Formerly, the Silver Lake Inn, this home has been a century long favorite among Silver Lake residents and their "from away" guests. This sprawling Victorian was built at the turn of the century and impeccably restored and updated into the charming home it is today. The wrap around porch is the perfect spot to sit, relax and watch the world go by.
Silver Lake was the summer home to the poet e.e.Cummings. It is the perfect spot to rest, rejuvenate and find inspiration to write, create and contemplate your next steps or simply enjoy as your resting spot between your adventures in the Mount Washington Valley. The property borders Forrest Brook which provides deep water access to Silver Lake. In the summer, feel free to bring your kayak, canoe or paddle board.
The Lake View Room offers a private bath and sunrise views over Silver Lake and the White Mountains. This king room is ideal for a romantic getaway, quiet retreat or a place to rest and rejuvenate while you explore the White Mountains. (There is also an additional queen room with private bath that will accommodate 2 additional guests. See separate listing or message owner for more information.)
On the main floor you will find a cozy sitting room, perfect for your morning coffee or your end of the day relaxation complete with couch and reclining chairs that swivel around to take in views of Silver Lake. It comes complete with an electric wood stove, and flatscreen TV.
Beyond, a bright and airy dining room welcomes you to enjoy any meal. Your stay includes full use of a shared kitchen, complete with refrigerator, dishwasher, pantry and refrigerator space. it boasts a large island with stove and oven inlaid, allowing maximum gathering space in the kitchen while preparing meals or just grabbing a snack.
Wrap around and screened in porches and grassy sitting areas offer sunrise and sunset views over Silver Lake and Mount Chocorua along with lush farm fields, and a wood line that allows for daily wildlife sightings including fox, deer, moose, and bear.
In the summertime, drop your canoe or kayak into the channel behind the house and paddle right out onto Silver Lake where you will find secluded swimming spots, rope swings, and protected Loon nesting grounds. Fish for small mouth bass and trout, cook them for dinner and head out to the backyard to enjoy its picturesque scenery and spectacular sunsets.
In autumn, capture the beauty of fall foliage as the valley gets ready for ski season.
In the winter, it's the perfect spot to relax after a day on the slopes, cross country skiing or shopping in the outlets.
Gratitude is the essence of our home and appreciation for the beauty of our surroundings is something that we honor daily. I wouldn't be at all surprised if e.e. Cummings was enjoying a day in Silver Lake when he wrote, "I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes."
Our home is definitely a yes!
