We gathered for a special birthday. The house was extremely clean when we arrived. It was true to the pictures. We had plenty of room for everyone. All of our meals were cooked there and we had plenty of everything we would need. Very well stocked. Having the downstairs fridge was very helpful for overflow. Overall the house suited us well. If I had one minor complaint was the thermostats were a bit hard to control. They must be pre programmed. It was a challenge maintaining a temperature. They changed on their own. But that was a small thing. A good time was had by all!!!
The house was lovely but the cleanliness was lacking!
The house needs pest control and a deep clean! It would be perfect! The kitchen was stocked amazingly for a family. Beautiful place. Just some love is all that is needed!
We had a great time.
Location is perfect ! Beach was wide open to enjoy our own private space each day ! House size worked great for us , it does need some TLC , but we weren't there for the house .
Family and Celebration - Perfect weekend !!
Pleasant stay, but COVID-19 sanitizing needs attention
Overall, we had a pleasant, relaxing stay in a house that was comfortable for our party of 6 and we received prompt and efficient support from Oak Island Accommodations (OIA) for the problems we faced while at the property. Arrived 3:30 and house was not ready since assigned cleaning crew quit. Fill-in crew finished 3 hours later and we took occupancy. Fill-in crew was rushed, lacked enough disinfecting supplies and had problems applying disinfectant. We spent another hour doing follow-up disinfecting. OIA did compensate us for the delay. But if we did not see the difficulties the cleaning crew had, we would have moved into a property that was not properly sanitized against COVID-19 as promised. And that was a major concern for us since we had 4 high-risk individuals in our party. The kitchen was well-equipped.. Beds were comfortable. We originally had 15 people in our party, but not all could make the trip due to COVID-19 concerns. The dining table seated 8, with some bar stools at the kitchen counter. Had all showed up, the great room of the house would have been inadequate since there is only seating for 8. There is a game room in the basement. Some bedrooms are very small with hardly any room on one side of the bed. Oceanside bedroom on main level was stuffy and hot with the door closed. Bathrooms on main level are small and crowded. Lockset on downstairs door was broken and could only be kept closed using the deadbolt, a major inconvenience when going to the beach since wind constantly blew the door open. The HVAC air filters were clogged and filthy. There was no binder with information about the house and its equipment. When the microwave stopped working we couldn't find the circuit breaker box and had to call OIA for help. The maintenance guy that promptly came found the breakers hidden behind a chalk board. Microwave oven was a mystery to get working on anything but max power. One eye of the cooktop would not heat properly. Great room ceiling fan had a wall control, but would only work using a remote. Water filter for the refrigerator needed replacing. There was easy beach access, but the house is near a public access point. There were plenty of resin chairs, loungers and rockers on the decks, although several were broken and unusable. The upper deck has partial shade all day.
Easily sleeps 15 people. We ended up only being 10 people and a baby, but it never felt too crowded and it was extremely relaxing. The WiFi was a bit iffy, and the TV in the living room could certainly be updated (though it is still a smart TV), these were not make or break things.
The beach it self was also really nice and clean. Since we went during the winter time we weren't all to concerned with just lounging on the beach and sleeping, but if you're coming in the summer, one thing to be aware of is, how much time you will spend on the beach depends entirely on the tides. During high-tide the water is basically all the way up to the dunes, with not a lot of beach space. But you've got a great balcony and porch, and 6 steps to the water!
Oak Island also has some great accommodations while not being a huge tourist destination. With a Lowe's Foods, Foodlion, (soon publix) within 10 minutes drive. There are also lots of other shops.
Overall, it was a great experience and we'd come back and recommend it to everyone.

Great view
This house has a wonderful location and views. Walk out the door and you are right on the beach. The house is older and can use some updating. The kitchen was new and nice, it was so well stocked, plenty of everything for a big family. The beds were comfortable and plenty of sleeping space for our big family. The house was clean. main complaint was some outlets and lights not working in the bathrooms and the bathrooms were very dated. overall, our family was comfortable staying at Franks Folly

Restful beach stay in great location
Three generations of family plus 2 dogs thoroughly enjoyed their stay at Frank's Folly. The property is well laid out and the views over the beach and ocean are beautiful. We loved being able to walk directly on to the beach and sitting out on the deck with a coffee or glass of wine.
Property management was very responsive. We had one problem with a TV remote and they had help to us within a couple hours on a Sunday.
