Welcome to The Crested Butte House! This modern large mountain home has everything you need for your large group with the the best views in the valley. In the summer, it is surrounded by beautiful wildflowers and easy trail access, and in the winter, it is ski-in/out or a 1-mile drive to the base area. The home is one mile from The Mountain Wedding Garden venue. We have 6 bedrooms and sleep up to 16 guests.

Updates 2025! We redid the primary bedroom with all new beautiful wood furniture (new pics of this room coming soon). We replaced many other pieces of furniture, rugs and dressers throughout this house this summer to keep everything feeling fresh and new. We also recently redid the flooring on the 1st (new tile) and 3rd floors (new carpet) and added a bar and custom lockers for equipment and clothing storage (these updates are in the pictures).

You have exclusive access to the property. There is parking for 5 cars.

This home is the perfect venue for skiers, mountain bikers, hikers, and nature enthusiasts. Trails start right from the front door in summer and an easy ski down to the lifts in winter.

For ski-in ski-out access the Painter Boy Lift MUST be open. You will take this lift to Columbine and Homeowners trail which may not be groomed early in the season. This is dependent upon snow pack each year and typically this lift opens in December. If we do not receive a lot of snow you will have to drive to mountain and it is about a 5 minute drive. You also must be an intermediate or advanced skier to ski in and ski out.

*if you’re booking for the winter, all-wheel or 4-wheel drive is required.

PETS
Pre-screened pets are welcome for an additional nonrefundable fee of $150. They must be house-trained and stay off furniture, and out of the hot tub.

PROVIDED
- All bathrooms have Native Brand Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, and Hand Soap. This is a cruelty-free non-toxic brand.
- Two (2) Bath Towels provided per guest.
- Some trash bags, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, paper towels, and toilet paper have been provided. For more, please visit one of our local markets.

SECURITY CAMERAS & NOISE MONITORING
Outdoor Surveillance cameras are located at the front door for your safety and security. Also, noise monitors are installed to ensure decent decibel levels are maintained. Please ask the host if you have questions or concerns.

CHECK OUT CHECKLIST
- Load and run the dishwasher an hour before departing. Please clean anything that doesn't fit in washer.
- Shut off fire pit propane tanks if used.
- Throw away or take any food you brought to the house.
- Return all indoor and outdoor furniture to their homes.
- Dispose of all trash in the bins. If you have extra trash DO NOT leave it outside the bins as it will attract animals immediately.
- Turn off all lights.
- Lock all doors and windows. Especially on the patio as the wind can blow and unlocked door open.

Cleaning Fee: Our fee is $625 because our home is very large and takes 3 people to clean properly and timely. We pay our cleaning crew a fair living wage and we do not profit any money from this cleaning fee.

We had an incredible stay at this VRBO home in Crested Butte! It fit all 14 of us comfortably, with spacious common areas that were perfect for hanging out and relaxing. The views were absolutely stunning, and the home itself was beautifully maintained and fully equipped. The host and project manager were incredibly responsive and accommodating, making the entire experience smooth and stress-free. Highly recommend for a group getaway!

The best house for 4 families

We had the best time at this house and we will definitely be back. Comfortably sleeps four families with children having an entire floor to themselves. Skiing in and out was easier than expected. CB Magic

We love CB in the summer, the most stressful decision of the day is planning your next hike. The layout of the house is really wonderful for big groups. With 3 floors, everyone has their own space! Mallory, the property owner / host was exceptional with communication. While I would not consider the the house to be luxurious, it is very clean & functional and provides a great "landing spot" for active families. We greatly enjoyed our time at this property!

Family Trip to Crested Butte

Spent 5 days and 4 nights with my 3 adult daughters, their partners and 2 grand children. Property is in great location in Mt. Crested Butte with fabulous views. Set up with 5 separate family zones with bedrooms and bath rooms is optimal for a large group. Property itself is adequate however many things are broken, non functional and dated. Property needs updating and a deep cleaning. It has been well loved and used and it's time for a significant refresh.

Great Ski In Property with lots of room

This is a great location, but really is not a true SKI OUT. There is some walking up the road (about 150 yards or so) which is a slight uphill slope. However, it is a great ski in location, and is set up really well. We had some issues with a smell on the first floor and the dishwasher wouldn't drain properly. The property manager was extremely responsive, and very accessible. To me this is more important than a perfect stay! Would recommend this to anyone coming to ski at Crested Butte!

Ski Trip

I stayed at this property with a group of 10 guys. We are all skier/snowboarders. It was perfect for what we needed. Great large space, especially with two living room areas in case we wanted to spread out a little bit. We all had a bed to sleep in. Everything was very clean and well stocked. The ski on/ski off capability was great. Definitely a little tricky the first time to ski off because there are no signs, but the video provided by the host was very helpful. The ski on access was a very short walk to actually get to downhill area off the street but VERY doable and great for the price. Hot tub was amazing after a long day of skiing with stunning views. Overall a great stay

First, I’ll say this was a fantastic home for a large group to stay in near Mt. Crested Butte. Our group consisted of 3 families and everyone had more than enough space to spread out. It was the perfect home base for all the mountain biking, hiking, running we wanted to do in the area, while having plenty of stuff immediately accessible right at the house (incredible views, cozy hot tub, and lots of games for the kids and adults). There were some kinks at check in that could’ve been way more problematic if the owner and property manager weren’t immediately accessible and overly apologetic/hospitable (house had not been cleaned prior to our 4pm check in, and washer/dryer units were not working). Mallory was on the phone with me within minutes of finding this out, followed by Perry with the property management company. Both of them addressed this quickly and we were able to settle in before too long. They even treated us to dinner due to the inconvenience. Based on this experience, which started out less than ideal, I would absolutely return and recommend to others. We enjoyed a fantastic stay with our friends in one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. Thanks Mallory and Perry!

Beautiful location, not quite ski in/out

Our stay at this property was overall very enjoyable. Here’s a list of pros and cons. First and foremost, the owner was very responsive at all times before our arrival and during our stay. Our four ski families have stayed in multiple ski in/our rentals but this was our first time in CB. This house is very accommodating for four families. The views from the wrap around balcony are stunning. The entry floor with game room also served as a great changing room for everyone to get ready to go out for the day. The bunk room and bedroom on the lower level are nice for kids/teens to have their own space. The main level of the house has a decent sized kitchen. The kitchen Is very well stocked with appliances, cookware, etc. but one fridge for that size of house isn’t ideal. However, we were able to store some items in coolers outside. The downsides to the property are that the driveway and stairs leading into the house was almost completely iced when we arrived. This made it dangerous unpacking and even parking our cars. We actually brought a shovel just in case and had to shovel quite a bit in order to park. We had 2 trucks and 2 large SUVs and were barely able to all fit. I don’t see how five cars would fit. There are only 3 houses on this private road which doesn’t seem to be paved. We got very lucky with the weather so much of it melted during the week but then it was all mud and slush because it would re-freeze over night. The listing mentions needing 4-wheel drive and it is truly required to get up this street and drive way. Lastly, all of our families agreed we find it difficult to consider this property true ski in/out. You had to walk quite a ways to ski out to get to a steep slope to ski down. Ski in was almost impossible the first day off of painters boy because of the path and amount of snow. You can’t see any of the markers described on the tutorial. You must be a very proficient skier to navigate both in and out. Some of our skiers had to be driven to and from a point near the base daily just as another one is the reviews mentioned. This listing does mention the ski proficiency but it’s really not ski in/out as some would expect that have rented in places before that are advertised as such. CB is an amazing place as is this property but you just need to know exactly what to expect with this property

Excellent Location in Well Kept House

The location was as described with spectacular views from the front and back decks. The hot tub was also a hit. We were able to ski out the front door down the road to a connection to the trails and ski back to the house over a little non-trail terrain which was fine for anyone who is at least a Blue level skier. When there was an issue the host was very responsive.

Crested Butte Family Vacay

We enjoyed our stay in this spacious mountain home. The rooms were well equipped, bathrooms were well placed and the home was well stocked with linens, cleaning supplies and kitchen utensils and appliances. We had a misconception regarding the surroundings of this home. There was no area for children to play outside the home. The porch balcony had large spaces between the fence posts, which made it nerve wracking for the kids to be outside without adult supervision. In addition, true to a great, bright ski chalet house with big windows, the west sun caused our home to heat up to almost 90 degrees in the afternoons. And made it difficult to cool down for sleeping conditions. I suggest shades for the living area windows, as well as the bedrooms that have transoms that aren't covered, causing very early wake up for kids and adults alike. Mallory, our property manager, was excellent with communication and always so helpful whenever we needed anything.

Crested Butte visit

Great place that accompanied our family very well. The view is spectacular! A couple of caveats you need to be aware of: There is no closet in the master, only a 2 foot hanger space in the bathroom: If you have 14 people and your stay is more than 5 days you will need to buy paper goods such as t paper, Kleenex, paper towels and trash bags and trash management is very hard as they need more trash bins: The TV requires you to sign in with a personal account on Direct TV, Apple and other streaming services so bring all your IDs & passwords: if you are a fan of the Keurig system bring your own: The half bath is part of the UPSTAIRS jack and Jill between two bedrooms-very nice for them but not accessible to everyone as one would assume. Overall we enjoyed our stay and there are many activities within an hour that can be enjoyed and downtown CB is fabulous.

Wonderful House Located on Mt. Crested Butte

Our family booked the house for a Spring Break skiing trip and it did not disappoint. The entire process from booking to check-in and then check-out was very smooth. Mallory was so helpful with little questions that we had during the week and she was responsive immediately. The house was perfect for the 8 of us. The kitchen was the right size for us to cook several meals in but also close enough to town to drive down for lunches and dinners. The ski-in/ski-out was great for those in our group that were more advanced skiers. I would recommend traveling to the base to do a drop-off/pick-up (or park the car) for those that are on the beginner/intermediate level. The hot tub was perfect! We used it several nights that were clear with no snow and you could not beat the views or the sunsets. It was so beautiful. Our family had the most amazing time and even had a wedding proposal that week, which made it even better for all of us. We would definitely book here again.

Amazing place!

We had a wonderful time at Mallory's place and were so thankful we chose this house. We had a large group with adults and kids of all ages and the house had plenty of room for us to spread out but also come together for meals and movie nights. The beds were comfy and the furnishings and decor made us feel like we were in a luxury condo. It was close to the slopes and town too. Mallory was super responsive and attentive to our questions and needs. We would highly recommend this place to anyone considering it!

This property had a perfect layout for our group. The views were incredible! The property sits high on the hill and overlooks the valley and the Butte. The host was so responsive, both before, during and after our stay. She provided helpful information prior to our stay, was immediately responsive to any issue during our stay, and has hired a new cleaning crew as her current crew wasn’t meeting her high standards. She was a pleasure to work with.

Fantastic Home

We had a girls trip to Crested Butte and wow, this house was stunning! There is a breathtaking view of the mountains, up to date kitchen appliances, and very comfortable beds. We had a few very minor issues but the host was very easy to contact and replied quickly to our concerns. I would highly recommend this house! We are already planning a ski trip here!

This neighborhood is an absolute gem. The homes are gorgeous and well spaced for privacy. The neighbors are all very kind. We are so lucky to be close to town but high on the mountain with stunning views in every direction.
