The bustling downtown area is approximately a 5-7 minute walk down the Hood River staircase (two flights of stairs) that leads to the city fountain and rose garden, brew pubs, great shopping, art galleries, fine cuisine, theater, wine tasting, and coffee/internet cafes. About Lisa Roddy

We are an active family of six who love all the activities that the Gorge has to offer. From skiing in the winter months to wind surfing, kiteboarding, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and cycling in the summer.

Lisa Roddy purchased this house in 2006

Why Lisa Roddy chose Hood River

Hood River has it all! We spent years camping in the Gorge raising our children along the banks of the Columbia where the wind blows. We were always drawn to Hood River and chose to build our home in this prime location so that we could walk to Mike's Ice Cream and the Double Mountain Brew Pub!

What makes this house unique

Hood River has so much to offer for everyone. Whether it's kiteboarding, wind surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing, biking, white water rafting, hiking, or shopping, wine tasting, visiting orchards or just plain relaxing at the house mesmerized by the view.....Hood River has it all. Fabulous restaurants, coffee houses, wineries, brew pubs, and shopping in this small town are a bonus......all within walking distance from our home!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Lisa,

We had an amazing, unbelievable week at your fantastic, out-of-this-world house!!!! The views were spellbinding - our adult children never left the living/kitchen area except to sleep. Our daughter, the bride, and her fiancé, were so in love with this house. It made our special week an awesome week! We thoroughly enjoyed Hood River, but this house had everything and more! Every kitchen utensil and appliance; a Viking stove!!!!! gas-line grill (we had a delicious & local, of course, salmon barbeque!); beds that deserve an A+ rating; soft, large bath sheets; the master bath that rivals any spa; amazing decks (lots of outdoor dining and late night cocktails); perfect inside temp (despite the unusual heat wave); and the flow of the house was every woman's dream. We used the front study to hold our wedding prep materials and stuck the groom on the sofa bed Friday night - he didn't want to leave ! We couldn't have designed or selected a more perfect house. Thank you again for sharing your amazing property - we will never forget our wedding week in Hood River.

Our best to you and your family!

Wonderful Wedding Comtrol Center

  • 5 of 5

My son was getting married in the Hood River area and we rented this awesome house for my three brothers, there significant others, and my 99 year old father. The view is magnificent and the open layout of the main floor makes for a wonderful spot to congregate for meals and libations. Everything was in working order and clean when we got there. There is a wonderful (easy) walking trail right around the corner. You can walk to town if you are in half way decent health. Since the house is high above town it is an easy walk down but rather difficult walk back up.

If you looking for a large home to hold up to 12, you could not find one better. The only issue is once you get there you will not want to leave.

Luxurious Hood River stay

  • 5 of 5

The house exceeded our expectations, with luxurious decor and high-end furnishings that are meticulously maintained. The house is perched on a ridge, and the view from the great room and decks of the Columbia River and the kite surfers is incredible. It was the perfect place for a 3-generation vacation and our first trip to Hood River.

Lisa provided spot-on advice about restaurants in Hood River and outdoor activities in the surrounding area, and was a gracious and helpful host. We can't wait to come back.

Because of Columbia Gorge geography you can hear the trains and interstate traffic from the decks. Being a few minutes walk to the shops and restaurants of downtown and the kiteboarding spit more than made up for that, as far as we were concerned.

Wedding Week in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous week at this amazing house! The décor, the layout, the decks, the views - it is beyond compare! The beds, the bedding, the towels, the appliances (a Viking stove!), the extremely well-stocked kitchen, the ping pong table, the paddle boat - the natural gas outdoor grill, the beautiful, comfortable deck furniture....and lots of it! I could keep listing the amenities, including the spa-like master bath with multiple shower-heads, the lodge quality fireplace (floor to ceiling stone!), the walk-in pantry (which came fully stocked!), the dining table that sat at least a dozen people and the oversized island that was the heart of the home! Our family vacations together a lot - but this house will always be the #1 favorite. We were so fortunate that it was available as our "temporary home" while we finalized the planning for our daughter's wedding at Mt Hood Organic Farms. She and her fiancé were able to relax, prepare and endure the warm week in comfort(100 degrees +) - they paddled on the river, wrote their love letters on the upper deck, and enjoyed the delicious farm to table food that our son prepared for all. The grandchildren had a playroom downstairs and the TV was never turned on! Yet after all the comforts and amenities this fabulous house provided - the piece de resistance was the Floor to Ceiling Wall of Windows overlooking the Columbia River! It was a view from a magazine shoot! Thank you again for our wonderful week....maybe one day we will be able to visit Hood River and relive the memories.

Amazing home -- highly, highly recommended!!

  • 5 of 5

We've been renting through HomeAway/VRBO for many years, and this is by far the best place we've rented: the views of the river (and kiteboarders) are amazing, the location is perfect (a short walk down to the shops and restaurants in town), everything in the house is high quality (furniture, fixtures, electronics) and in brand new condition, and the house is very well furnished and equipped (kitchen with useful pots, utensils, etc.; high-end Weber grill plumbed into the gas line so no changing propane tanks; nice laundry room with front-loading washer/dryer; central AC, etc.). To top everything off, Lisa (the owner) made everything really easy: she was incredibly responsive to our (many) questions, had lots of great suggestions for hikes, activities, restaurants, etc. We used this as our "home base" for viewing the solar eclipse down in Madras, OR and then relaxing and hiking around Mount Hood, and couldn't have been happier. Highest possible recommendation!!
