The cottage was clean and comfortable. It was well stocked for our stay. It’s location was convenient for visiting Beaufort and the surrounding area. It’s within walking distance to downtown Beaufort. We liked that bikes were available to use. The bikes were in decent condition and the Spanish Moss Trail was close enough to bike to it; the trail was a nice perk to the area. The only complaint to this rental was the condition of the outdoor grill. It needs a good cleaning. We ended up buying a cast iron pan instead of dealing with it. Grills in this humid environment are hard to keep clean, especially if not used often, so I wasn't too surprised, but something another renter might want to know if planning a grilled meal. Overall, this was a great place for a couple to stay for a visit. We especially appreciate that it is dog friendly.

Good to know—we were very happy with Pelican Cottage! It is close to all the important places. It is located in a neighborhood that has every kind of home, from artfully completed historic renovations to small needing-repair cottages to unoccupied shells ready for tear-down. Keep in mind, just like all rental/vacay properties…there’s building business and actual LIVING going on, friendly folks walking dogs and such. We were not disturbed by any noise when it was time to rest and relax. The fully decorated cottage has all the amenities for a comfortable stay, but nothing inside looks too precious to handle. Everything was clean and ready for our visit. Pets—A doggy bed and a tin of doggy snacks were ready, with a small fenced in area that could allow a bit of secure scampering room (no pets for us, this time). Communications—prompt answers to any questions.Accessibility—it appears from outside to be one level, and it is (mostly) There is a step up from the living area to the hallway/bedroom/bathroom portion of the house, and one up to the pantry/utility room. A solidly placed handle bar is to the left of the doorway helps with safely stepping up. The drive and sidewalk are not paved, but have small crushed stone that may present a challenge for wheels, but it is not insurmountable. Check-out—a minimal list of easily accomplished responsibilities is posted on the refrigerator. I sent a quick text to the owner as we pulled out of the drive.

Loved this place

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was in the perfect location: close to the beach, but far enough away we weren’t in the hustle and bustle of things. It also is one of the few places we’ve stayed at that was truly pet friendly; little details throughout the house such as a dog bed let us know that they would be comfortable. The property manager was extenely nice and we are looking forward to coming back!
