Spacious Comfortable Charming Family Farmhouse Great Location

Bedrooms 3
Property type farmhouse
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Farmhouse, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Experience a little of old New England. Our VRBO is a charming historic family farmhouse apartment(2100 square feet) with lots of room and comfort surrounded by 22 acres. Built in 1782, our farm was famous for breeding Plymouth Barred Rock chickens. About one hundred years ago, one of these barred rock roosters won the grand prize of $2000.00 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, that’s a lot of cash for the 1800’s! Many other grand prizes were won as well, and thus our rental unit has a built in wall safe that was used back then to hold the winnings (we don’t have the combination to the safe, but we have left a stethoscope there if you would like to try to crack the code.).

Built by the Bradley family, the farm was one of the first and largest dwellings in the area. To this day, the street is named Bradley St.. The river runs through our little valley, which sometimes brings Bald Eagles, Ospreys and Great Blue Herons migrating through.

The natural beauty of the Berkshires is legendary. Scenic hills, tranquil lakes and gentle streams.

The Berkshires are famous for world class music and dance festivals. Tanglewood, summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra is a ten minute drive from our location. It is an extraordinary music venue where serious music lovers can sit up close, while families or more casual listeners can relax and picnic on the beautiful expansive lawn. Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival is a treasure with the very best of dance from around the world. The property is wonderful for picnicking, as well as being very user friendly to families with children, offering many free events. Many other quality museums, galleries, historic places and entertainment are close by as well.

If culture is not exactly on your list, the Berkshires offers fantastic local shopping, outlet mall shopping, and antiquing. Dining opportunities for all tastes and budgets abound. Recreational opportunities are more than can be counted for any age and ability. Hiking, mountain biking, golf, kayaking, swimming, horseback riding, skiing, and snowboarding are all offered in a multitude of locations in the immediate area. We are just a few minutes away from October Mountain State Forest and Bear Town State Forest with hundreds of miles of trails. The Appalachian Trail goes through Lee if you’d like to take a day hike (or more) on it. First class health and fitness experiences are available through the purchase of spa days at Canyon Ranch, a world famous health resort, (call ahead) and Kripalu, a world famous meditation and wellness center. For the kids, Six Flags amusement park is about 40 minutes away. For history buffs, the Silvio Conte Federal Archives allows you to trace your family tree.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hello Wendy and Tim

Thank you for your email. Our stay with you was wonderful.

Everything was exceptional and comfortable. You made us feel like we were at home with all our conveniences and comforts. Everything was well thought of and we lacked nothing. The rooms were beautifully furnished and we enjoyed using all the rooms, the kitchen, the breakfast nook, the dining room, both the living room and the little enclosed family room. We enjoyed reading about the history of the house which made us more appreciative of it. The views from the windows and the beautiful garden area with the lovely large shaded tree and where we had the opportunity to spot a hawk besides other birds was wonderful. We even had a chance to use the barbecue and spend time of the rocking bench. The binoculars and bird book were a nice touch as well as the umbrellas, very much needed on those rainy days. We thank you for all your kind and prompt assistance whenever we needed to contact you.

We cannot thank you enough for helping to make our stay memorable. We were reluctant to leave. We loved the area and enjoyed exploring.

Hopefully, some day we will be back.

Best regards

George, Ginny and family

Spacious accommodations/many thoughtful amenities.

  • 5 of 5

Tim and Wendy proved to be very gracious hosts who acknowledged and granted us very good accommodations. Location is central to many attractions, less than a mile to town of Lee, only eight to ten miles from Tanglewood and Pittsfield. House has old world charm with plentiful amenities. Hosts were available and very responsive to any questions or concerns. All in all, a wonderful week in The Berkshires.

very comfortable farm house

  • 4 of 5

this is a well-appointed, comfortable house. Very centrally located. Lots of nice touches that suggest that the owners thought about what renters need. The owners were available when we needed to call about a blown circuit breaker. Cons: Some difficulties with WiFi and computer access and some traffic noise in the mornings. We'd probably rent again if we are in the Berkshires.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us. We are always striving to make the rental experience better, and will continue to check into any issues our renters have.We regret not being notified of your situation with the Wifi as it might have been an easy tweak to make your stay more enjoyable. A good internet connection is vital in this day and age. We're glad you enjoyed the rental and if you are back in the area we'd be happy to host you again in the future.

Great place to stay in the Berkshires

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect rental for our family's first visit to the Berkshires. It's centrally located, spacious and very clean. Wendy and Tim are accommodating and helpful hosts and provide everything you can possibly need for a comfortable stay. The fresh flowers in the kitchen were a particularly lovely touch. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to this area.

Farmhouse rental

  • 5 of 5

Amazing stay during President's Day weekend! My kids absolutely loved the house! My 2 yr old loved looking at the horses right out of the window every day. Warm and cozy; heat was more than sufficient; kitchen was well supplied; close to supermarket and nearby restaurants. Highly recommend this place! Perfect place to come back to after a long day of skiing!

Our Farmhouse Stay

  • 4 of 5

We are 3 couples in our 60's, on our 20th annual weekend away. Our stay at the farmhouse was fun. A quaint, old farmhouse with lots of personality. The digs watching from the kitchen window was a plus and the owners were really wonderful to deal with. We recommend this house to anyone looking for something with character.
