About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7)

Beautiful, spacious, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, family home in the Berkshires located on a private road on crystal clear Richmond Pond with private dock for swimming and boating. Our home in the Berkshires is comfortable and clean with hardwood floors, skylights, spacious closets, and wood paneling. It has been newly renovated, with a new dishwasher, new refrigerator, new stove, energy efficient washer and dryer, and lush landscaping. There are many books, games, a fully equipped kitchen with a table and six chairs plus additional dining room table which seats up to 10. We provide clean linens, a rowboat, a paddleboat, life preservers, and many water toys. The house sleeps 7 people in comfortable bedrooms. There is a large wooden deck with a table, umbrella, and chairs, and a second shower in an adjacent building with plenty of hot water. No smoking. Good quality Time Warner Wireless Internet is provided, plus cable TV (flat screen), DVD and VCR. (Note that Time Warner/Spectrum Wireless was installed in 2016 so earlier reviews do not list it.) Fishing is excellent in Richmond Pond; it is stocked with a variety of perch, pumpkinseed, bream, bluegill, rock bass, bullhead, brook trout, brown trout, crappie, largemouth bass and pickerel . It is a 15 minute drive to Tanglewood (summer home of the Boston Symphony); also close to Berkshire Theatre Festival, Stockbridge; Barrington Stage, Pittsfield; Lenox; Great Barrington; Jacob’s Pillow; and Williamstown. Albany airport is 1 hour away. Hiking, biking, and water skiing are all available.

Lovely!

  • 5 of 5

This home was a lovely place for us to stay for my husband's bday weekend. It was cleaner than the average summer house rental, and didn't have that damp mustiness that homes in lake communities usually do. It also felt more like a home than most, and I'm not sure why-- maybe the decor?-- but it felt like a house that was much loved by its owners and their families.

If you're considering renting here, just be sure that you fully understand that this is NOT a lakeFRONT home, and that you won't have lake views from the house. If you're expecting lakefront, you'll be disappointed, as I see one reviewer was. (The lake is beautiful, though!)

This was a terrific rental and highly recommended. Thanks, Carol!

Owner's Response: The lake is a 2 minute walk from the house. The property consists of 2 large lots: one lakefront with our private dock, row boat, paddle boat, and shed with beach chairs and water toys; and one set back from the lake in a wooded and lawn setting, with our house.

As advertised. A wonderful summer vacation.

  • 5 of 5

The home was clean, well supplied and the owner was easy to reach and was receptive of our needs. The lake is clear and clean with the possibilities for swimming, kayaking, and rowing. We took advantage of all the area has to offer, ie: theatre, dance, museums and of course, Tanglewood. Tanglewood offers rehearsals, student and faculty concerts and the Boston Symphony, sitting on the lawn or inside the shed. Local restaurants in Pittsfield, Lenox, Lee, and West Stockbridge offer a variety of menu choices. Three supermarkets and a gourmet market are withing ten minutes of the house. All in all we had a wonderful vacation. Although several rooms have fans, the house tends to be uncomfortably warm on hot days. Only the upstairs bedroom has an air conditioner.

Serenity

  • 5 of 5

Going home is always a wonderful time, sometimes it can be mixed with a little sadness. I found this little piece of comfort and calm to be just what I needed while on my last visit home. This home had all that anyone could want to relax, explore, unwind, share with family and feel safe. It is decorated lovely with a mix of artisan and practicality. The kitchen had all that you need to enjoy a relaxing dinner "at home" and for cooking out as well. The beauty of the sun coming in the large sliding glass doors makes it an amazing start of your day. You can see the pond to your right and a few steps away you can see glass water and mountains up close and personal. What more can you ask for? The Beds were very comfortable and too many other touches to name. I will say this place is a wonderful place to stay if you are visiting the beautiful Berkshires. The host is very responsive and kind and you couldn't ask for a better retreat. I will stay again, next trip "Home".

A great place for a Berkshires vacation

  • 5 of 5

This is pretty house in a beautiful setting. Lots of room, interesting decorations, great views from the windows, a well-stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and a one minute walk to a quiet lake. The house is a short distance to Tanglewood and good theater.

And Carol was always responsive to questions. Highly recommended.
