We moved here from Atlanta Georgia in 2002 after discovering it a few years earlier. We just MADE IT HAPPEN! We traveled extensively all over the country and found this place to be the most beautiful place we have EVER been. We made it our home and to get involved in the community we bought a small restaurant in Morro Bay and have been loving making new friends and being involved. Offering our vacation home to guests fulfills our desire to share the experience of living in paradise. We look forward to sharing all the details of how you and your family or friends can make the most of this experience too.
Denise purchased this House in 2005
Why Denise chose Los Osos
The community of Cabrillo Estates is one of the only 3-4 hillside communities that is right at the edge of the pacific ocean in the central coast between Avila Beach and Monterey. It has the best views comparably and is right around the corner from one of California's best kept secrets, Montana De Oro. We consider it our own 8000 acre back yard which has pristine beaches, miles of coastal bluff and mountain trails, tide pools and beautiful seasonal wild flowers. After being here for 14 years I am still amazed when I drive through the community and think to myself, is there anything more beautiful than this? The location is very close to downtown Morro Bay and a short drive to San Luis Obispo, Pismo & Avila Beach to the south and Cayucos and Cambria to the North. It is also a short drive to over 250 wineries and all kinds of interesting events occurring all year throughout San Luis Obispo County.

Amazing Ocean View
We had a staff retreat and the house was so big and view was amazing through out the house. it was convenient to go sight seeing and many restaurants and the coffee shops to enjoy! Owner Denise was very helpful and easy to contact make us feel right at home. Extra day for free work great for us to enjoy extra time to relax. Thank you so much for letting us stay and we will be back in the future!
The house was in great shape. It worked out perfectly for our needs. Will recommend to anyone.
Great place for a large family
We stayed here for a local wedding. Lots of room for all our family members and plenty of space to spread out and relax. Lovely views of the ocean, quiet neighborhood and kitchen was very well equipped. Property manager had lots of flyers and information on local things to do. Will definitely come back and stay again!
Wonderful is every way!
An extremely well stocked and usable home. The arrangement of the beds in the bedrooms allows for a variety of uses....we were able to put our 4 family units (the hubs and me and our 3 married kids and grandkids) each in their own bedrooms with no crowding. One daughter put two kids each in separate closets within their bedroom! Being able to see Morro Rock from the large windows everywhere helped us feel we were truly in a special location. The location is extreme;y accessible to so many fun activities. We will def be back!
The house is very cozy and comfortable. The rooms were spacious. The kitchen was large enough to cook meals for our 12 guests. We loved the large yard that had a very nice view of the ocean. Denise (home owner / caretaker) was very easy to work with.
Not what we expected
We rented the house for a week long family get together of 6 adults and 6 children (ages 2 – 12). We looked on line for Morro Bay and the house came back on the HomeAway search as Morro Bay. However, after paying the deposit we received the Rental Agreement and noted it was actually in Los Osos. We were assured there was adequate beach areas within a mile but this was not our experience. The neighborhood streets are very hilly and not conducive to casual walking or strollers.
The house is also not ideal for toddlers. Not only for the hilly streets, but the backyard has a drop off beyond the fence which is an open ranch-type fence that is not a deterrent to keeping anything or anyone in or out of the yard. In addition, cleaning items & chemicals were stored in lower cabinets without child locks.
While the house was spacious to accommodate us all, the bathrooms had very few hooks or towel bars to hold wet towels after showers or baths. Therefore, more frequent washing of towels was required, which quickly became a problem due to the next issue.
Our two significant criteria were a big kitchen and a washer/dryer. The washer stopped working after one load on the first night we arrived. Despite Denise’s efforts and those of her handyman, a service call by a technician needed to be scheduled and was not available until the day before we checked out. Denise did offer to take our laundry to be washed & dried. However, that process wasn’t efficient for us due to the turnaround and our need to still do delicates and line dry items by hand, adversely impacting our vacation time.
We also found out that mice were a problem, resulting in having to discard a significant amount of food that was in the pantry. A dead mouse was found in the garage and rat poison was outside by the garbage cans – info we were not aware of despite receiving lots of other info in person at check-in.
Most disconcerting was the fact that we were initially blamed for the washer and the mice problems, leading to some disconcerting conversations about refunds and offering of better and/or multiple solutions when such things occur. As such, we would not recommend this residence if there are young children in the group or, for that matter, for anyone else if the issues we experienced have not been addressed properly.
It is unfortunate Nancy didn't review the details of the house and the location before booking. She did receive a very truthful detailed explanation about beach access and the hilly nature of the location but perhaps missed it. She was never blamed for the washer or mouse. Details were asked and we mentioned that we do our best to keep them out with a professional pest control service which has sealed the house but we can not control what comes through doors & screen doors. We had the house professionally inspected right after she left with no mice found. Without seeing any proof of intrusion we still offered compensation for any food in question. Nancy didn't want mouse traps set but we provided easy to set child safe mouse traps which they never opened. Our pest service leaves a sealed bait station by a remote area and have never thought that it would be a problem keeping it next to the trash bins where no toddlers should be exploring. Nancy didn't want mice or any traps so there was no practical solution. The house borders Montana De Oro, a large state park. We share our neighborhood with deer, turkeys, raccoons, bunnies and many other critters natural to our area so pest control is very important to us to ensure a great guest experience. After hearing of the washer problem, I arrived shortly after and tried clearing the error codes with no success. I took their laundry and returned it as they asked the following morning. I arrived with a repairman who ended up needing parts. Knowing another repairman was scheduled for Thursday who may have parts, I hoped doing their laundry daily would have been sufficient to see them through. I additionally provided them with 42 clean towels, with hand towels (36) wash cloths (36) and an extra hanger for towels. I did mention an option of laundering additional items elsewhere but was told they were giving me what they needed. I considered taking my washing machine to her immediately on Sunday but hoped the repairman would fix it the next day. We offered generous compensation for her inconvenience due to the fine washables and having to rinse out bathing suits by hand in the laundry room wash tub. With a working dryer there was no need for "line drying". Practical solutions were offered but negated. I was told almost everyone in the family caught a bug from one child which weighed heavily on their vacation and I am saddened and sorry she didn't have any good details to share about their vacation.
