Our own personal paradise!!!

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect and very clean! The mattresses and pillow were a little stiff, but we slept good. The two bedrooms on the main level worked great for our three kids(could fit five). My husband and I had our own room, bathroom and balcony to ourselves, on the second floor, with amazing views! The deck is perfect for yoga.

The kitchen is fully stocked and very well organized. There is plenty of clean drinking water, in a large jug, on the kitchen counter. The house is very open and spacious.

The location is perfect!! It is a short drive on an old dirt road, off of the main highway. There are guards that block the road, to keep it very safe. There is a couple of restaurants just a few minutes of walking down the dirt road. Or you can drive 10 min into Tulum.

The caretakers are great! Every morning Isidro cleared the beach of seaweed. Rosio kept the house perfectly clean. They were very good about taking care of us, without being in our way. They made a great dinner for us one of the evenings we were there.

The backyard is what really makes this place so amazing! I laid in one of the lounge chairs, in the shade with a perfect ocean breeze and finished my book. The pool is a perfect temperature, private and clean. We spent a lot of time swimming! We were worried about the sun exposure, but it was never a problem. We were glad to have the sun out when we swam. My son was in heaven, running around the yard catching geckos, lizards and hermit crabs.

The snorkeling was the BEST!! Bring your snorkeling stuff, or walk 5 min down the beach and rent from the Scubashop. The entire bay is only about 4-6 ft deep. The waves are calm, the water is shallow and the water temperature is perfect. We paddled the kayaks out to the first buoy, and tied off, then snorkeled around the reef. We spent hours snorkeling!!

One day we snorkeled at Yal-Ku lagoon, and it was not nearly as good as our own "private bay"!

Just thinking about this place makes me want to be back there!

The last day we were there, baby turtles hatched right behind the house!! It was incredible! We helped put them in the ocean so the birds wouldn't eat them. (Ask Isidro if he knows of any turtle nests. )

Enjoy this place!!!

Location! Location! Location! Plus - very cool house and great caretakers (you will not meet a better couple who take great pride in taking care of the house - and they are also excellent cooks)! Saw mama turtles laying eggs and baby turtles making their way to the see after hatching. Around the corner from Tulum and down the way from Akumal. Highly recommended. Pool, beach and kayak were the bonus.

Just the right place for us.

  • 5 of 5

Casa Cavu was perfect for us. Not fancy but soooo comfy/homey.. Just lovely. The staff (Isidro and Rocio made it even more incredible. Very accommodating and they prepared wonderful Yucatecan meals. We had two small children who loved the pool and having the beach right there. Hope to return!

Amazing Tulum Vacation - Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Went here on a getaway with best friends, and couldn't have found a better place to stay for the week! It's a true paradise! The house was SO clean, and a wonderful Mexican style little castle right on the water. Tulum is still untouched by big resorts, and such a tropical dream. Loved the vibe everywhere we went. The details provided prior to arrival were plentiful and gave us all we needed!

Having the pool, and lounge chairs only steps to our own private white sand beach...PERFECT! The bay was absolutely breathtaking - crystal clear and great for Kayaking. We would take the kayaks way out and snorkel and swim. All the bedrooms had AC and a wonderful view of the caribbean. I would open my doors from bed and listen to the waves in the morning. The rooftop overlooks the jungle and the water. Jungle has awesome sunsets from the roof, and the bay has an amazing sunrise. If the moon isn't too bright, get ready for awesome star gazing! The groundskeeper and chef - Isidro, and our housekeeper, Rocio were an amazing inclusion to the house! They were so friendly and shy, and did not bother us at all. To have our house cleaned every day, was a huge plus to add to the relaxation! One of our meals cooked by Isidro - the freshest lobster tail, and a chile relleno, were one of the best we had in MX! Steps away is a Cenote for snorkeling in an under water cave. There are a few boutique hotels and a restaurant/bar nearby if you felt like walking only steps in the sand to get out of the house. Two nights in a row turtles hatched on our beach and we got to see them run into the sea! We got lucky to see this!

Aside from our area, it was only about a 12 minute drive to the beach front hotels and restaurants in Tulum. We rented a car, so this wasn't a problem. We took a cab out a few nights, and that wasn't a problem either. Tulum's beaches are breathtaking and more swimmable than the bay, making it worth a few days spent. Visiting the Tulum ruins, (about an 8 minute drive) and the Coba Mayan ruins (45 min drive)in the jungle (which you can still climb the tallest ruin in mexico) are all a must for little adventures. We also ventured to the village of Akumal one day which was not as private and wonderful as our little bay in Tankah, but a good new site to see, and it had some shopping.

Overall, we could not be more pleased with the turnout of picking this house, and our amazing Tulum Vacation! I can't wait to return!! -4 best friends from Los Angeles, CA

As always our favorite place to relax

  • 5 of 5

This was our 4th visit to Casa Cavu. We plan to return. Our favorite place to vacation and relax. The house had a fresh coat of paint since the previous year. turtles nested at night at the foot of the palms and patio area. Rocia and Isidro, always the best in taking care of us. This year we took the boat out from Casa Cenote Water sports and snorkeled. 2.5 hours = $35 each. A bargain, and you can bring your own beer. They supply the equip, the boat, the driver, and the cooler. Its the simple things about this place we love.

Fantastic Stay

  • 5 of 5

This review is long overdue. We rented Casa Cavu for eight days for our son's wedding in Talum. Several other guests also rented villas on Tankah Bay, but Casa Cavu was the place they all gravitated to. It is warm and inviting, very comfortable and extremely clean. Rosio keeps the house immaculate and Isidro keeps it in good repair. By all means you have to have Isidro prepare some meals for you, they are all excellent, but we loved the lobster for six. The house is great, the beach and view are great, you can't go wrong with Casa Cavu.
