Neat place to stay in Silverton, fits the town just right.
This is a well equipped spacious house with an over the top view of the mountains. In floor heat is awesome, big kitchen, and a steam shower we used daily after adventures. Nicole the property manager is wonderful, she is a classic Colorado adventure woman that knows the town and San Juan's in detail. We would definitely rent this home again or any place Nicole manages.
I’ve been going to silverton for the 20 years but this was the first time I actually stayed in silverton. The main things I can complain about is it was definitely not a clean vrbo. And this is coming from a person who is not clean. There was dust on literally everything. The animal heads had spider webs on it. There was a gold fish cracker in my bed sheets upstairs. The upstairs sink leaked every time it was used. It is an awesome location just needs to be taken care of a little bit more.
This property could have been great. My wife and my friend’s wife complained about the dirty house. I hated the fact that with multiple TV’s, none worked. No cable, only Roku, which did not work. Heat was always on even though the owner said it wasn’t . Jacuzzi bathtub had a note saying “Please don’t use this due to a leak”! Just FIX it please. The house was furnished well but we felt used and taken advantaged of. This house could be really nice. Despite all, we had a good time because it’s Silverton and Colorado. Hopefully things get fixed and addressed in the future.

We are sorry the house did not meet your expectations. We take all our guests comments and feedback seriously. In the listing, it explains how the house uses Roku and not standard cable. The homeowner has gone to great lengths to "just fix," the tub and there is a new one in the unit. It was a 10 week process to fix the tub. It is difficult to get qualified repair people to Silverton. Add on the global supply chain issues and it took that long, there were simply no tubs available. The last thing we want is for you to feel "used and taken advantage of." In the future please contact us during your stay so we can remedy any issues as they come up.
This is a nice house in Silverton with 4 bedrooms and 2 full baths. We stayed for 2 weeks, two adults and two elementary school kids. We enjoyed and appreciated the house, but it could have been better. For the money, we’ll stay somewhere else next time. Nicole at Silverton Property Management was great, and we appreciated her checking on us and doing us a favor while we were there.
Pluses:
Location, quiet street within walking distance of town.
4 bedrooms.
Washer & dryer.
Full kitchen, and everything worked.
Decent living and eating space.
NO dog hair! This is very rare in a VRBO, and we appreciated it!
Silverton weather, can’t beat it.
Minuses:
Normal VRBO stuff: dirty dishes and utensils, dirty carpets, dirty bed coverings, dirty upholstery. If you’ve stayed at a VRBO before, it’s typical.
Parking is limited and on the street.
Upstairs shower is tiny and didn’t drain. Downstairs shower was better, but had a weird spitting low flow shower head.
Master bedroom had nice windows, but no covering over the glass doors or big upper windows. You had no privacy, and the sun came in very bright and hot first thing in the AM.
Not much outside space. Narrow front porch on the road, no backyard area at all.
TVs are tiny. This didn’t matter to us, but if you like watching TV, there are maybe 19” (?) LCDs.
Neighbor’s dogs barked constantly if you went outside. Kinda funny because you’re warned against having barking dogs…
Overall this was a good place to stay to enjoy Silverton, but not for the price. If we go back, we’ll stay at a different rent house in town. 3/5 only because of that, otherwise a solid 4/5.
The property was a good place to rest your head. Had issues with the tv and internet but other than that I would stay there again. There was plenty of room for everyone and the views never got old. I would recommend this place to my friends. Thank you for having us at Richeys Retreat.
We had a lovely stay at Richey's retreat. The master bedroom is a treat, with magical mountain views and morning sun. We also enjoyed the downstairs steam shower. Perfect location off main street and walking distance to everything.
Our only drawback was communication with the management company. They were very responsive, however, we found them to be oddly passive aggressive about household products and the garbage policy. The house was out of paper towels, low on TP, and out of hand and dish soap. When I reached out to let them know, we were informed that whatever was there when we arrived was our allotment. Well, I guess that means no paper towels for us. They also really stressed me out about how much garbage we accumulated and were weirdly aggressive about us taking it to the dump on our own.
Regardless, this didn't diminish from our fantastic stay, and I still give a 5-star rating and would recommend this place to folks passing through Silverton.
Richey’s Retreat is a great spot. There is plenty of space for a large group and walking distance to everything in town. The master-suite is amazing with sweeping views of the mountains. The only downside for us is that right before checkin (after we could cancel) we were given an exhaustive fee schedule that put everyone on edge. There is a fee described for everything: leaving coffee in the pot, using too much toilet paper, leaning back in chairs, leaving too much trash, etc. Other than that, it’s a great place to stay in a great town!
Great house. Loved the views from the upstairs bedroom. Met the neighbor and they are great. Parking Rules in Silverton are very picky.Luckily we were able to park all4 of our vehicles in front of the house and off of the street.
