if you plan trip to Maui and rent a camper van, you MUST have a reservation with either Camp Olowalu or at National Parks (or both) (or you may have an agreement with owner of private property and park the camper van there). Without the permit the camper won’t be released. it is prohibited and illegal to park the campers anywhere else under penalty of $1000 per day!!‼️‼️‼️

Fully custom off the grid conversion with a minimalist open design. Whether you’re a weekend adventurer, or plan to live in the van full time, this van will work perfectly for you.

Huge storage area under bed is 32” tall. Living area is approximately 6’ x 10’, standing height is 6’3”, bed is brand new queen size. kitchen counter is 48” long. Van is 17’9” long and 9' tall and fits in a regular parking spot. Swivel seat adapter for passenger seat included, .It is very clean inside.
With the 136’’ wheelbase this van fits into a normal parking spot and is very easy to maneuver.3 overhead cabinets, Cabinet under bed with space for cassette toilet (optional). The toilet is for “number 1 only” ‼️and no toilet paper goes in it!!!!

Any Waste must be disposed before you return vehicle. You are responsible to return the toilet clean ‼️with an empty cartridge. If you failed to do so, we will charge $300.‼️‼️

If you damage/break anything in the camper, we kindly ask you to report the damage right away. We are quite limited here with shipping and it takes weeks/months to get certain stuff here. Please be respectful towards us, our island, our camper and the future customers as well...

‼️You have to show us proof of your insurance - please make sure that your insurance cover campers in hawaii we also require 24 hr road assistance. If you don’t have that contact us ahead of time.

You’ve chosen a Camper Van for your Maui vacation – great choice! However, there are additional insurance requirements that aren’t typical for home share rentals. You MUST have full coverage insurance on your vehicle that meets or exceeds the Hawai`i state minimum. Additionally, you MUST contact your insurance provider and add RV coverage for the duration of your rental and you MUST provide Rent For Less Maui proof of said additional coverage. We have other booking options should additional RV coverage not be available through your insurance company; however, we are unable to honor reservations made through VRBO or Airbnb without the Renter obtaining additional RV coverage through their existing policy. ‼️Please keep us updated with your flight schedule and let us know your time of arrival! Provide your cell phone number - the one you will travel with- because we are sending detailed instructions how to get to your camper car as well as the code for key box‼️

Freedom on the Road

Rudi was very responsive. We loved our experience in Maui and the van allowed us to experience so many opportunities. It was clean and the bed is very comfortable. They provided us with everything we needed to cook and to go to the beach. The only issue we had was that the Dometic fridge didn't work for part of the time but there was an ice chest which worked out fine. We'd definitely rent it again.

I became a sea turtle

I had a really goof time traveking around and exploring parts of the island I hadn't before. It's important to plan early and get your reservations at places to stay but it's not too difficult. What a fun adventure. I would have a few cleaning items included in the back so that cleaning up for the return is a little easier for people. The solar powered ridge was off and on in terms of its functioning. The back-up ice cooler in the back saved my expensive groceries. Overall I had a fantastic time because I don't expect the world when I am pretend camping. It was very nice and comfortable.

Great home on the road!

We had a wonderful time in this camper van. It was the perfect way to start our Maui adventure exploring the island. So nice to have all our stuff with us wherever we went. And they provided so much great stuff we didn’t even use, like snorkels, fins, and boogie board! Only small thing I would ask for would be the addition of a liquid measuring cup in the kitchen for coffee, etc.

Perfect way to vacation in Maui

Van was great. Rudy was wonderful to deal with and was very responsive the couple times I text him during our trip. Van has all the basics you will need. The electric ice chest worked great. The chairs were perfect for the camper van life style, however my wife and I were most impressed by the comfort of the bed. We are kind of bed snobs and this was a concern of ours but the bed was as good as we could have hoped. We will rent from Rudy again. Thanks

Great way to see Hawaii, but...

Renting the camper van was a pretty unique way of seeing Hawaii but there were somethings that made it challenging along the way. I had a tough time with getting the insurance squared away before we left. Be sure to talk to your insurance provider because ours did not provide the proper coverages and I had to do a lot of digging to make it happen. If you take it along the road to Hana you better be an experienced driver with a larger vehicle. Luckily my husband was excellent for the job. Unfortunately, the road on the south side of the island washed out so we were stuck scrambling for a new camp ground. I messaged him for help and he was very responsive which was nice. He also provided a video on how to work everything. My husband is a bit old school and preferred that someone had met us for a tutorial but we were fine. The check in and check out was contactless. We were provided with instructions on how to do it. Highly recommended if you have a go with the flow personality. 😀

Novel experience; worth doing once

Overall my wife & I enjoyed the experience of renting a camper van. It provided us with some freedom & a bit of novelty. The van was also easy to drive. It had its fair share of stresses, however. One frustration was the constant reminders from the renter to return the van spotlessly clean & not to smoke. I understand the renter's needs here, but the multiple reminders were a bit much given the fact that we still had to pay a "cleaning fee" through Vrbo. To top it off, we found a little garbage in the van after we picked it up. The experience was not cheap either after Vrbo's fees, the renter's fees, (extra) insurance, & the rental price itself--not to mention campsite fees (if you plan on obeying the law & spending the night in the van only at designated campsites). Also, do your research in advance, as finding camp sites is very difficult on Maui. The state & federal parks book up well in advance these days, & private sites can be difficult to find. Some of my frustrations would've been mitigated had communication with the renter been a little easier. Despite it all, would I do this again?...probably. It was an overall good experience. Knowing what I know now, I don't think a second venture would be as stressful.

October 2022 Maui

What a great find!! Everything ya need! Had for a week, just $125 to fill with gas. Plan ahead with camping reservations. So amazing to enjoy the beach and be able to rinse off with the vans shower and enjoy some quick AC. No problem with the solar power running the coolers, chargers and fan. We left the side door and back door open at night, no worries and no bugs. Easy to drive, back up camera. Download your playlist, radio stations on Maui are not great. And you can plug into the vans sound system. Clean and comfortable. Easy to Uber to pick up and drop off. Enjoyed the upscale resorts as well, many mornings we had breakfast there and enjoyed the entertainment, grounds and beach. Note: The van is on the street, not behind the fence.

An Adventure to Remember

This was the perfect way to visit Maui! The van was a comfortable and fun way to see and enjoy so many different aspects of the island. We saw something different everyday and stayed in a new place every night until we found our island "spot". I would highly recommend this property for anyone who is looking for a chilled out and relaxed way to vacation. If you are high maintenance travelers however, skip the van life and go for the hotel... There is a certain amount of hippy spirit needed to really get the most out of this property. The property owner was very responsive with any questions we had about the vehicle and messaged us back within minutes. Everything you need to prepare a basic meal is provided i.e., two plates, two bowls, small pots, a pan etc. Depending on the temperature outside it can get a little hot or a little cold at night. I would recommend bringing your own travel fan for the warmer nights. The van has a curtain for privacy between the front window and living area, however we we did have to use clothespins to hang towels over the tinted side window at night to ensure privacy. Additional amenities include 2 awesome Tommy Bahama beach chairs with shoulder handles for easy carry, two sets of snorkel gear and two boogie boards. There's nothing like waking up and jumping straight into the ocean or preparing breakfast to be eaten on the beach!

Originally rented this for the road to Hana, but after hearing all of the concerns the owner had it wasn’t worth the risk & is actually too big to try with… I drove a mustang on the trip & Im glad I didn’t try to with this van… several turns I made wouldn’t have passed cars without damaging the vehicle! Overall great for island but would big recommend for Hana

Epic! Will do again.

I want to tell you NOT to rent this...so that when we want to rent again it is more likely to be available.. BUT, I feel the need to be direct and honest and give the owner all of the props he deserves. Everything about the van is perfect. It was a dream stay on Maui. The owner made everything so easy for us. Having our rental car be our house was completely the right call for an epic adventure. If you want to sit at the poolside reading a book all day, this is not for you. But if you want to see ALL of what Maui has to offer, I can not imagine a better way to do it. While you get a bed and kitchen with this vehicle (which saved us hundred $$$ of meal cost), you may miss bathrooms/showers ... in which case I will give the best "been there" tip (that I got from other reviews of this vehicle).... Camp Olowalu.l!! If I rented this again, I would book that every nite just for the facilities. This vehicle and owner are deserving of 6 stars. Leave the week I want open.

Van was everything it was advertised to be!

Checkin and check out process were very easy. Van is easy to operate. The shifting does take a little getting used to. Overview videos on how to use everything in the van were excellent. It shows that they listen to their reviews and adjust accordingly. Overall a good experience!

Explore Maui

PROS: Van is in excellent mechanical shape. The interior is as show. Bed comfortable and enough dishes, pots and pans, etc for 2 persons. Frig worked well; freezer...just. Easy to drive. Remember the wheel base is slightly longer than a car. We drove all over Maui including Hana and the Volcano without issues. CONS: Did not receive lock box code until one hour after pickup time. Rudy sent a msg to my home phone (landline) and not via vrbo.Make sure you have codes and info several days before arrival. Minimal instructions from Rudy on how to operate van. There needs to be an operator's manual with instructions on how to light stove, turn on lights, reconnect fridge, jumper cables & spare tire location, etc. We figured everything out eventually, but would have saved time with written instructions, WARNING: Do not camp at Keanne peninsula. The locals will aggressively harass you until you leave. Reserved campsites recommended.

Camping bliss

The camper van was just as it was listed. There were even camp chairs, beach towels and snorkel gear. We had no issues with charging and the bed was super comfy. When we needed to contact the owner, he responded quickly and figured out a solution that was perfect! Our only suggestion is to leave a cheat sheet for simple things like turning on the propane. We are campers so it didn’t take long to get it working. We would highly recommend the van and camp Olowalu

Great set-up for experienced Van/RV users

Whoever set this up did a great job, very well appointed and cozy, with nice personal touches, albeit the usual quirks that come with camper van conversions. They are right to screen renters, we were given no info about using anything in the vehicle. Had we not had experience driving diesel trucks, and building our own campervan, this could have been pretty bad!! I can see how this vehicle and it's amenities could be easily damaged without proper attention. Whoever is managing the rental seems very stressed. Communication was prompt, one word answers, accompanied by long reminders about returning the van clean and on time, and the corresponding fees associated with various violations.

I Miss the Camper!

The camper van was such a fun experience! It is so much fun to drive and well stocked with everything you need. Owners were pretty responsive to all my questions. Just as a note, we did have problems with the battery for the cooler system. We had to turn it on and off intermittently to save the battery but hey owners can't control the weather. Just be mindful of this if you are renting when it's raining and sun is not out all the time. Other than that, I would highly recommend this camper! I already miss being in it!

Fun way to visit the island of Maui!

The campervan was a great alternative to overly pricey hotels or condos. We enjoyed being able to cook our simple meals on the propane stove, and our "rental car" was built-in to our lodging! Be aware that, currently, there is a dearth of campground space on Maui - some campgrounds are closed for COVID-related reasons, some are being renovated, some are not issuing permits, and demand for the rest of the spaces is keen. We found some places to pull off during our trip, but were concerned we'd be woken up by authorities in the middle of the night and be forced to move; luckily, that never happened. We also happened to go during a period of heavy rains and flooding, so that limited our options, too. In "normal times", I'm sure everything would have been fine.

Seamless stay and accurate description

Rudy’s camper van was completely ideal for exploring Maui. The process was extremely easy, located only 5 minutes from the airport with convenient contactless pick-up just as advertised. The van itself was immaculate and comfortable, with details such as extra blankets, utensils, storage area, pull out fridge, snorkel gear, beach chairs, etc. Rudy was great with communication throughout our stay. I have since recommended his van to several friends after sharing our vacation on social media. This was honestly one of the best vacation’s I have ever had thanks in large part to Rudy’s van perfectly matching the description.

As Advertised! What a relief!

It was a relief to find everything clean and in place given the kind of trip we were planning. We were able to completely be self-sufficient within the van, off-grid,-self-sufficiency! Gas mileage was amazing, recharging phones no problem. The food stayed cold! One word of advise - fill up water supply whenever possible. The two 5 gallon tanks don't last very long if you have no other water source.

Van in Maui

While in Maui for a week, we stayed at two campgrounds and the van - just as in the photographs - worked well for us. The owners were very helpful with the reservations, which is appreciated.

This is the best way to enjoy the island. Rudy is a great host and the van is phenomenal. Gets in and out of where to need to go or be. Great Great way for island vacay. 10 stars Rudy. Thank you for everything Mahalo!!!

Maui Road Trip

Overall a great experience, glad we went this route instead of a hotel. Would recommend 10/10! Got to view the sunset from different parts of the island, wake up right on the beach, was able to check off a lot of thing on my bucket list. Will definitely do it again!
