About this property
Beautiful view 2 miles above sea level
A place apart from the ordinary , two miles above sea level, 1800sq. ft. this owner built home offers a serene place to visit and experience the world from this unique perspective Enjoy the changing aspens and crisp air. We built this very spacious house with all the contentious details not found in regular construction. Our master bedroom and bathroom on the main level has outstanding views of Mount Evans all the way to the plains of Denver. We just added a deck that is on the main level on the east and south side of the house as well as a hot tub located in an inclosed part of the house on the west side. Also a bedroom on the lower level with a full bathroom. Great room down stairs with televisions both floors. Pool table on the ground floor. Our house is built for the extreme weather conditions of the area, we heat with a combination of radiant floor heating and a wood burning stove, this home is so much fun in the winter, we call it a snow globe home and no air conditioning required in the summer. Walk out the door and you are on the trail to more adventures, forest service land and four wheeling trails are right outside . The very popular St. Mary's hiking trailhead is nearby. We are THE destination place for ruby throat and rufus hummingbirds, "Hummingbird happy hour at the Clark's". They have moved on but we know they will be back mid May We built this home in 2005 designed for the extreme environment of life above 10,000 ft. Four wheel drive vehicle required in the winter. This property has three security cameras. Two on the front porch to keep track of guest coming and going and to check on snow levels. The other is in the mechanical room pointed at the boiler and the sewage lift station. The sound is turned off of course. We have also installed a battery back up system that will prevent any loss of data while working on your computer. We have Broadband internet service.
We look forward to hosting your next getaway. There is a $50.00 per pet fee for pets.

This was my second time staying at this beautiful property. I couldn’t wait to come back and experience the views, hot tub, comfortable accommodations, and relaxing atmosphere. I had a very peaceful week soaking in the hot tub and bath tub with views of the glacier, practicing yoga with a view and sound healing, reading from the library, and exploring the area. My favorite Vrbo stay so far!
Fantastic hosts. They were very very helpful. The property itself is great as well, the views with the snow over the weekend were tremendous. 10/10 experience.
Absolutely stunning views and beautiful cabin! Perfect for my hot springs getaway. The aspens changing color added to the amazing scenery. I hope to return to visit again someday.
The kitchen was exceptional especially when cooking Thanksgiving dinner. Kids played pool in the basement and we all watched movies after our food coma. Master bed was very comfortable and did enjoy the soaking tub looking at the stars. Would be beneficial to recognize the one sleeping area as a loft. Overall, we had a fabulous stay and would stay here again!
We loved our stay at this wonderful cabin. The views are awesome from every room and the cabin has a pool table, hot tub and musical instruments to add to the awesome vibe! You can wake up your family and friends with a gong which is such a fun way to start the day!
The owner had two hummingbird feeders on the deck. If you love nature, this is the place to stay. We played pool in the downstairs and hiked Saint Mary's Glacier. I feel so relaxed, it's hard to leave. Georgetown is nearby with wonderful little shops and good restaurants. Highly recommend!
Nice house with beautiful views. Could ride trails with UTV vehicles directly from property which was fantastic. House had everything we needed. Loved the hummingbirds. Had to park one vehicle on side of road but it did not cause a problem.
Great and restful landing place near St. Mary’s Glacier
We very much enjoyed our stay. The house is cozy, the hot tub and giant bathtub were very nice and relaxing. The views that you wake up to in the morning were absolutely stunning. The game room was also a nice addition. It was very quiet, we enjoyed reading on the deck And relaxing. The kitchen was well equipped and everything was easy in terms of check in and communication.
Mountain views, hummingbirds at your bedroom window, easy access to walking and 4x4 trails. Dog friendly. Amazing location! I would definitely stay again!
Great remote location, very peaceful area. The deck is a great place to sit and relax, and watch the hummingbirds. The hummingbirds were impressive! Be ready for a lot of gravel switchbacks getting to this gem in the wilderness.
We were there during a bit of a snow storm, and while a little difficult to reach during that storm, it was still a beautiful stay and everything was clean, and well maintained.
We really enjoyed this beautiful property. Nestled high up in the mountains, we truly felt like we got a real mountain experience. The views out the windows were spectacular and we even had three moose wander through the property one afternoon. Thank you for the hospitality-we really appreciated it!
Great views, close to trail, fun games and relaxing. A bit hard to find due to missing street signs for final two roads, but worth it. Map it ahead of time.
Loved the location: away from the crowds, hiking trails to Loch Lomond and reservoirs are in the neighborhood (definitely need 4 wheel drive for those roads to the trails), close enough to Mt. Evans and national forests. Went to sleep to a panorama of stars from the bedroom window and woke up to feeders full of humming birds and a view of snow covered mountains.
Priced very reasonably for all it came with!
Our family enjoyed shooting pool and playing the games supplied in the evenings.
The kitchen was well supplied for cooking for a family.

Glenn and Sarah Clark, married in 1997, that was the beginning of this adventure for us. Glenn moved me and my two children to Colorado. We moved into this small cabin in Evergreen. Glenn has been a master wood worker all his life and was finishing a spec house in Evergreen. After finishing that house we took off for a few months to get the family established in the mountains. Then we started working. We are both very hard . working , ethically minded individuals so together we were dynamite. In 2000 we purchased our first properties in the St Mary's subdivision. We began work on a spec house and soon realized we loved this place, as we continued working on the house we decided we would put both our houses on the market and we would live in the one that didn't sell. Of course the cute little cabin with walls in Evergreen sold at a nice profit and we were in the circumstance of needing a place to stay while we finished the house. It was February and Glenn said "We will get a motor home", this was before reality TV and tiny houses but we way ahead of things. We finished that beautiful house and another one on Texas Drive.. We built this house in 2005 and found ourselves with two house in 2008 and it was really hard on us. The housing market was awful and no prospects of selling so Glenn said " We'll make the Texas Drive house a vacation rental". No one else was doing vacation rentals at St Mary's at the time and guess what? It was a good idea> We did VRBO for four years and eventually sold the house. Glenn became a luthier and we enjoyed our life. A couple of years ago we decide we wanted to move to town so we came back to the VRBO idea.
Why they chose this property
There are 5 Clark houses on the mountain plus some remodels, Glenn is truly a gifted woodworker and his passion for build is evident in this house. WE explore the thingness and no-thingness of empty space. Pets are OK, We are 420 friendly, no tobacco smoke in the house. We are just getting this house on line for rentals so we will be making improvements continuously, The trails are right out the door, snow a pair of snow shoes is available. We are at the end of the subdivision and the road to the James Peak 'Wilderness, very private and safe.
