Located on a Golden Sandy Beach Cove, we are direct ocean & cove front. One of the few where sea turtles rest daily. Relax in the shade of palms or swim in the cove with the turtles. A great place to enjoy the Hawaiian sunsets, in fact the point we are on is known as Sunset Point. The comfy/clean 3 bedroom 1-1/2 bath cottage is perfect for couples or small families to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Ocean & visit the island Of Oahu.
Still close enough to Waikiki for a day trip, but far enough away to see the 'real Hawaii'. Amenities on site are kayaks, snorkel
gear and Boogie boards. The home is our personal weekend getaway
so we keep it well stocked with all the conveniences of home.
We have fish ponds and tiki's to enjoy but of course the ocean & sunsets are the main focal point for all who visit. Tiki torches are available to create the ambiance of old Hawaii and you are far from street noise so the ocean will rock you to sleep and the birds will wake you in the morning. Many have called it paradise and repeat visitors are very important to us. Many return year after year.

Semi- retired and love to share the property with families who enjoy relaxation and the best views on earth
Tom Welch purchased this house in 1997
The water and shoreline is magnificent and the beaches are the nicest on the islands
The feel that you have located 'Paradise on
Earth'. The Cove location @ only 45 feet to the water
makes watching the Turtles & other sea life an all day affair.
Hi, we stayed at Tom's home in October 2016 we are a family of 5 from Australia, and they say if you truly want to explore a place you have to live like the locals do and this home truly does that. This beautiful home is a must do on your Hawaii list. We did not want to leave, my daughter was sun baking with the turtles out front we saw them everyday we saw seals, the sunsets were truly breath taking and the neighbours are so friendly. Tom is the kindest and most welcoming host made us feel right at home and was in contact to make sure everything was ok. There is everything at the house from surfboard to SUP boards and paddles boogie board etc etc. We cant wait to come back. Thanking you again Tom and K Welch.
For the traveler who prefers to be in amongst the locals, away from the retail madness, and is happy in comfortable family style accommodation. We loved the location, loved the fact that this house was fully equipped with everything we have at home. The West side definitely has better drier weather. Also loved the fact it wasn't too fancy and we could feel totally relaxed. All the beach toys were a big plus - they even have beach shoes in all sizes! Suggest guests understand the location, the local attractions, are not bar hoppers or restaurant goers and if planning to be in the water have an understanding and respect of the sea. Tom let us have a later check out so we were able to clean up without the stress of a time frame. It's one of those places where you visit once and then just become a regular guest. Love it!!
It has now been a full six months since we left Makaha and I cannot stop thinking about our wonderful stay. We are a family of 7 who spent about a month on Oahu, staying in Waikiki, Lanikai, Hawaii Kai and here in Makaha. The 7 of us are unanimous in our opinion that the cottage on the beach in Makaha was our absolute favorite. There is something about waking up with the sound of the ocean, followed by stepping out with your bare feet on the cool morning sand that just cannot be beat. We saw sea turtles nearly every day, saw beautiful parrot and other exotic fish while snorkeling, and tried a little boogie boarding. What made our particular stay most special was our great host, who really seemed like an old friend. We enjoyed the lilikoi fruit picked fresh off the vine. My kids loved feeding the Koi every day. The kitchen was actually one of the best parts, in that we were able to cook full family meals and save tons of money over eating out. Our stay included Christmas, and we hit a Christmas tree farm in Wahiawa. The cottage was so well equipped, we actually found boxes of ornaments in one of the closets which helped make an unforgettable Christmas. I cannot recommend this location and cottage more, and we will be back (if we don't buy a neighboring property beforehand!)
My first 2 trips to Hawaii, stayed in Wakiki. Third trip I stayed at this property. Was planning my fourth trip and couldn't believe my good fortune that the only weeks this property was available were the weeks I would be there. I immediately rented the property. Why? Price can't be beat for a 3 bedroom ocean front house. As nice as the house is, the lanai and yard are even better. Beautiful landscaping, plush grass, lanai with comfortable furniture. The property is also fenced in should you have little ones. I've stayed in condos in Florida and couldn't hear the waves-didn't feel safe with just a locked screen door. This house you can lock the doors and safely open the windows to hear the waves and birds. Everything you need is there-every kind of water toy you can imagine. Games should you have a rainy day, however the house is located on the drier side of the island. Tom is wonderful to work with. Quick response when I texted with a question. He greets you upon arrival and explains and tells you everything you need to know. The only downside is you are about 45-60 minutes from Honolulu depending on traffic. We didn't mind, much of the highway is coastal so it is a pretty drive. If you are going to Hawaii to constantly be touring and/or clubbing, this may not be the place for you. If you are going to Hawaii to appreciate the culture, go to nice uncrowded beaches, ocean at your feet, relax and spend quality time with your friends or family you need to rent this property. If I ever have a fifth trip to Hawaii, I hope this property will be available!
My family ( 3 adults and 3 kids) had the pleasure of staying in this home for 13 days... It went by so fast and our stay seemed far to short. We have been to Oahu several times and stayed at a smaller house on Makaha last year. This is our new favorite.
We love the area, people and you can't beat the beaches. My grandkids ages 13, 11&6 had a great time in the cove. We used the snorkeling equipment, kayaks, and the boogie boards in the water as well as the chairs and umbrellas on the beach. We lacked for nothing to have the perfect stay. Waking up each morning to the waves crashing and birds singing was followed by coffee on the Lanai and a relaxing breakfast.
Tom is a pleasure to rent from welcoming us on arrival. We hope to come back many more times to enjoy this piece of paradise.... Thank you again Tom for helping us to have a perfect vacation
This house was away from the commercial part of the island which made it very quite and nice. The views are unbeatable! I loved having my coffee sitting by the cove beach and seeing the turtles. Tom could not have been nicer and more helpful. He has every water toy you could want for different age groups. The house was more of an older style home except for the kitchen, which was modern and clean and the beds were very comfortable. There is every kind of towel and beach towel you could need. I left my favorite beach towel Tom and did not steal it :-). I loved listening to the ocean waves all night. I would say you need a car if you want to explore the island like I did. Traffic is notorious like any big city. I would certainly rent this house again! This was my first trip to Hawaii and loved it. Thank you again Tom for all your kindness.
