The Space:

The Black Hills are easy to enjoy in this beautiful cabin. The Lariat Cabin is just around the corner from Sheridan Lake and under a mile to the local wineries, including Prairie Berry Winery, and local breweries. Not to mention, it is centrally located to all attractions.



Hot tub in the evenings or enjoy visiting wildlife and the neighboring horses from the covered front deck. The Lariat is completely furnished, including towels and linens. The fully equipped kitchen includes a refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, dishes, and cooking utensils. There is a ramp for wheel chair access which leads to the sliding glass doors and a double car garage to park vehicles in. This cabin can sleep 10 comfortably. Please NO PETS.



Planning a trip to the hills to off road? This home is located near Gordon Gulch Road (1.5 miles away) which has many forest service roads which also connect to the Hill City ATV and UTV trail systems which turn into snowmobile trails in the winter. While this home has a beautiful forest background, there is a candy shop, restaurant, gas station, and casino just across the road. Not to mention, it's only a couple of miles to Hill City where there are several shops, restaurants and a local grocery store.



Guests with motorcycles will love this home as there is a double car garage and only 500 feet of gravel to the highway, making it both centrally located and easy to get around. In addition to the limited gravel, there is plenty of parking outside for trailers and vehicles. If you're looking for a perfect combination of comfort and location, the Lariat is the perfect getaway for your Black Hills vacation!



*The upstairs loft has two double/full sized beds and and is an open loft space common to most cabins.



NOTE: Have a large party? Reserve the neighboring Lariat Bunkhouse for additional accommodations and receive $50 off per night. It sleeps 4 additional people. The Lariat Bunkhouse is a separate home, next door, above the garage and may be rented separately or together with the Lariat Cabin.

Convenient with a country feel! This home has it all and is located next to the forest, yet across the way from a candy shop, restaurant, and gas station. There is great access to forest service roads and trails for ATV or UTV`s across the road as well. Why not have it all?

Loved the Lariat! We were a group of 9 and it was perfect! Everything we needed to be our home away from home was supplied. Super clean and the hot tub was just what we needed after a day of exploring. I would definitely recommend the Lariat!

Great location close to custer state park keystone and rapid city. House was beautiful . only downside was fire alarms started beeping at 615 am on our last day like a wake up call. They stopped after we turned the air conditioners.

The cabin was clean and very comfortable. There were 7 adults, and we all did well with the sleeping arrangements. Three couples took the 3 bedrooms, and our single person took the loft. We managed to work out the details for the showers, including the 2.5 bathrooms. The beds were comfortable, and I loved being able to open the windows at night for the breeze. No need for AC. The kitchen was equipped okay. Nothing special, but we did okay with the meals we prepared. The location was very convenient for getting to the tourist sights. We did not use the hot tub, so I can't speak to its condition. The host/ property management was responsive when we wanted to add a night.

Motorcycling after the Rally

Second time we've stayed in this house. It's a great central location for The Hills. Worked out great for our motorcycle trailers with the circle driveway. Pretty quiet location. Near by streets allowed us to get in a 2 mile walk in the mornings before departing on the motorcycles.

Great location

Great central location to the Black Hills. More paper products were needed. Kleenex, toilet paper, paper towels. Property does have a mice problem outside the perimeter but of the house. Also cute little woodchucks seemed to be camped under the porch. But overall a great experience.

Peaceful and convenient

We traveled with 2 adults and 7 kids, and this home worked perfectly for us. Pros for us: It was clean, spacious, bright, had kitchen/dining seating for all of us, a deck and yard for the kids to play in, laundry detergent and dishwasher soap were provided, hot tub was great, beds and pillows were nice, furniture was clean and comfortable, wi-fi worked well for us to get our work done, management company was friendly and helpful when we wanted to add a day to our stay. The property description was accurate, but we were still impressed with the location. It feels remote and relatively private, but is just a short distance off the highway and easy to find. There was very little traffic, and we felt safe letting our kids play in both the front and back yard. It is our impression that this isn’t just a rental property. Someone owns it and stays here, so unlike some VRBO’s, the kitchen had everything we needed and wanted, there were little things like coasters on the end tables, nice dressers, an ironing board. It wasn’t cluttered at all- just complete. Possible cons: Our phones don’t work well with wi-fi, and we had poor internet with our phones here. That’s true of much of the Black Hills area, and not specific to this property. We brought laptops for work, so it didn’t really affect us. We could make calls with no issues. We loved the decor, but if you’re really sensitive to smells, you may notice the old leather smell of the curtains and saddle. (My boys loved it, learned what a lariat was, and chose used ones from Wall Drug for $15 as their trip souvenirs!) Regarding the location: We came for Mt. Rushmore and Custer State Park, and this was great. We fell in love with Needles Highway and Sylvan Lake, and this location was perfect to make repeat visits there. Hill City was great. We were pleasantly surprised by the natural history museum, 1880 train, and Alpine Inn. It was a reasonable drive to the Mammoth Site in Hot Springs. We were thinking we’d come back to the Black Hills and stay in Spearfish or Rapid City for variety, but Hill City and this house were so good for us, we may just stay here again instead. Note: This is the first VRBO review, but there was a guest book with notes from a lot of grateful and happy renters.

The cabin was in a beautiful setting, and had all the amenities we wanted, and exceeded our expectations. Our family loved our time in the Black Hills! Thank you! We didn't have any problems. Location location location

This house is in a great location which enabled us to see Crazy Horse, Mt Rushmore, Wall's Drugstore and The Badlands. The window air conditioners were very loud and not very efficient in the August heat. Full window coverings on the east and west would help this problem. Otherwise a wonderful experience! Thank you for sharing your home with our family of 4 adults.

Very nice house..we enjoyed our stay..it was located very close to all the attractions in south Dakota..hot tub was very relaxing..my only complaint is that the dryer was extremely slow at drying cloths and the washer didn't put enough water in the washer for a large load of cloths..I understand we want to save on water and electricity..but what's the point if u have to turn the dryer on twice as long and u have more loads to wash in the washer..

A nice feature was the code to get into the cabin upon check-in. We had no trouble getting in and using the code our entire stay. ("contactless check-in and check-out"). The Lariat Cabin was perfect for our two families vacationing together. We each had our own space. It was nice to be able to cook our own meals. The location was ideal to all the things we wanted to see! I emailed with Lee Ann and she was very responsive to the few questions I had. We also called when we got to the cabin as we had a question on the hot tub, and they were very helpful.

Awesome spot!

The cabin was a perfect size. We had 4 adults and 4 kids. It was comfortable, cozy and clean! The porch was great and relaxing in the hot tub made it even better! We would definitely come back!
