Great Florence Apartment
The apartment was very comfortable, and in a great location - easy walk into the city center, and in a neighborhood with lots of restaurants and points of interest. George was a terrific host - very accessible if we had questions and helpful in parking logistics (there is no parking at the apartment, and it is a bit of a walk). Overall, we really enjoyed our stay!
Very much appreciated!
It feels like home.
This is not a cheap rental property furnished from Ikea. It is a lovely apartment in a venerable building occupied by families and long-time residents. It was refurbished by and for the owner's family, with a very thoughtful owner/host who lives nearby. He personally met us upon arrival and showed us around. He made a point of checking in during the week to see how things were going, but was never intrusive. The apartment is very comfortable, with modern amenities, ample space, and attractive furnishings. The kitchen is well equipped. The neighborhood is residential, with nearby baker, butcher and greengrocer. The owner also supplied a detailed list of information about the apartment, as well as nearby restaurants and services. We settled in quickly and enjoyed every minute of our week in Florence. We highly recommend this property.
Perfect apartment, location and host!
The apartment was exactly what I was looking for in my stop in Florence on my first trip (definitely not my last) to Italy. It was extremely clean, comfortable, cozy, very quiet, and in a charming local neighborhood. You are just blocks away from Boboli Gardens and less than a five minute walk from the Pitti Palace. It is a quick, easy walk across the river to all the other major attractions in Florence.
And George (your host), could not have been more helpful and exceptionally quick answering any and all questions and offering great advice on restaurants, things to do/see and recommended the best personal guide named Beatrice.
Lastly, as a solo traveler, safety was a high priority for me and I felt very safe and secure in this apartment and the area overall – even walking around in the evening returning just after dark from dinner or events.
I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend.
Thank you kindly Sarah. It was a pleasure having you. We look forward to your return.
Private, personal and phenomenal!
George, the owner, met us at the door promptly and gave a quick tour of the place. It is lovely and better than indicated. The place was extremely clean and had all of the comforts of home. George was an excellent host and gave us tips on local venues for food and other interests. He was quickly available and assisted with things as we needed them. I loved the place, in an ideal neighborhood with quick, central access to a lot of things with a very short walk but far enough away from the congestion of the tourism. I willl definitely return to Geroge's place if available. In my trayels, I have not experienced a host as wroldly and sincere as George.
Great location, Wonderful host!
***** Highly recommended! *****
Lovely couple these two! I look forward to your return. I simply love to pronounce
your fabulous name, Woyciech!
If you feel you need a jaunt in the countryside, please know that a 10-minute drive will
see you surrounded by vineyards in the Chianti area with lots of wine-tasting possibilites. You can also easily make day trips to Pisa, Lucca, Siena, Arezzo and other Tuscan towns.
Rome or Bologna are only a 100-minute train ride away.
From our side of the city joggers will be able to run in open countryside, which begins only 3km from our place.
You might consider a stay in Umbria, the region just south of Tuscany, with jewels such
as Perugia, Assisi, Todi, Spoleto and Orvieto to discover. We have a home in Todi.

My wife, Lynn, and I moved to Italy way back in 1973 after graduating from Beloit College in Wisconsin, where we met. I'm a photographer and Lynn teaches English. We bought this apartment for our two children William and Alice, but they have chosen to seek their fortunes elsewhere. William, a pianist and composer, lives in NYC and Alice, a dancer and choreographer, lives in London.

Why Owner chose Santo Spirito
This is a particularly choice location. It is only 100 yards from the Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens and on the Oltrarno side of the river, a neighborhood much less touristy and full of artisans workshops and markets. Still, it's only a 7 min. walk to the Ponte Vecchio over the Arno River.
What makes this Apartment unique
It is a spacious and quiet apartment, completely refurbished with all the amenities, including a great collection of music, a Yamaha C2 piano, and VHSs and DVDs in English for your evening entertainment.
