3BR, 2BA Chesapeake BayfrontHm in Md, huge picture windows, beautiful gardens
About Alicia Yowell
My husband and I purchased this property in 1980. We are in a community called Governors Run that is rich in history. Where our pier exists, it was formerly one of the oldest wharfs in Southern Maryland. At the turn of the century, it was a resort for Washingtonians. A group of us purchased the entire 15 home resort, each owning our individual homes. We have successfully turned into one of the more magical and beautiful spots on the Chesapeake. One day, I will write a book about this great adventure.

Why Alicia Yowell chose Port Republic
Beautiful sunrises and panoramic bay views make this three-bedroom/two-bath (sleeps eight) beach house spectacular. It's located on Maryland's western shore, just 45 minutes from Washington, DC. The area is rich in colonial history, as well as in fossils from the Miocene era. Enjoy miles of sandy shoreline, a 450-foot private pier, two-mile nature trail through deep woods, open recreational field, playground, and plenty of fabulous seafood restaurants. This is a magical place. I'm not sure there are words to describe the charm of our warm and inviting home on the bay. The views from every room are simply breathtaking! You'll truly feel like you are on a ship overlooking a vast body of water. The view is constantly changing -- either due to weather, or by the large variety of boats and birds. The house itself has 'yesteryear' charm combined with today's modern conveniences. It has a wrap-around porch that now includes the kitchen where your views are simply magnificent.

Excellent property. Beautiful views. Plan to return.
So glad you had fun Kevin. I hope you got to kayak to Parker's Creek. If not, that is a must the next time you come. Kayaking 5 miles to Parker's Creek then up the fresh water stream into the nature's preserve is a memory you will never forget.
Beautiful waterfront home
This home was perfect. My family stayed her for a few days over Christmas. As beautiful as the pictures are they cant do justice to the real thing. View from every room. Fully stocked kitchen which we took full advantage of. We loved listening to Christmas Carol's, from anywhere in the house and outside. This was one of our best family trips.
Thanks Wendy, so glad you loved the house and it will become a family tradition.
Great house with unbelievable views!
I highly recommend this house!
Thanksgiving on the Bay
We wanted to get out of the city but not drive too far in the holiday traffic. This location was perfect. There is nothing like being on the water to remind you of the greater world. The owners left some binoculars and a telescope and we enjoyed watching life out on the bay through the giant picture windows - birds, boats, clouds, sunrises, stars - it was wonderful. It's a neighborhood of about 10 houses where the land on the bay is a little lower. In either direction are sandy cliffs and so walking on the beach is very private.
The house was clean and comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked (as promised). We were able to prepare a Thanksgiving feast without any trouble. There is a small bedroom downstairs with its own door to a full bathroom. It was perfect for my in-laws who praised the showerhead. Showers were a topic of discussion because I offered for them to use our shower upstairs, that incredible master bath that you see in the pictures. Upstairs was very cozy. The fold out couch, day bed and trundle for our three children were perfectly located in a living area just off our bedroom. If you are looking for three private sleeping areas, this wouldn't work, but its a perfect spot for kids or adults who are comfortable with eachother.
It was a lovely time and just a quick 1 hour drive from DC. I suspect we will be back.
So glad you all had a great Thanksgiving. I enjoyed hosting you and do hope you come back again.
Absolutely beautiful home decor was beautiful, the kitchen was a joy to cook in but most of all the house felt like home, four young teen grandchildren had a great time finding sharks teeth, rent this lovely home I know you won't want to leave, very nice owners that really care about the home and guests.
Everything was absolutely perfect. Perfectly peaceful vacation. Alicia is very thoughtful. Great getaway with the family. I would definitely recommend this place!!!
Thanks Tracey, so glad you had fun and it was great hosting you all.
The area is rich in colonial history. St. Mary's County is just a few miles away and it is the home of Maryland's first colonial settlement. Solomon’s Island is a charming Victorian Village that has an abundant number of fabulous sea food restaurants with great ambiance. It also is the home to the well known Chesapeake Bay museum. It has displays that teach you about the fossils that you will find on our beach as well as the names of all the shark teeth. It also features the many different ships that sailed the bay for the past three centuries. At night they offer a variety of music festivals. We are only 45 minutes from Washington D.C.
