Everything you could need or think of was there. Even some toys for dogs and plenty of games for family night. Some firewood at the property and the allowace to use the fireplace inside and outside at the beach was an exceptional touch!
This home has everything you need to enjoy a time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Prior to check-in, Alicia called and gave lots of insight to the area around her home. It is evident that Alicia cares and love this home. Very easy check-in and check-out process as well. The bay view is incredible and the woods next to the house have relaxing trails to enjoy nature up close. The trails are very well maintained. The sunrise and sunsets are spectacular! My daughters, pup (an added bonus being able to bring our dog) and I enjoyed hours hiking and relaxing on property. It was a great way to unwind during a very short spring break. Thank you Alicia for sharing your home. We had a wonderful and relaxing mini vacation.

Thank you for your kind review and so glad you all enjoyed the house. I am really happy you went on the trails, it’s very hard for me to get people to do that because they want to just walk on the beach, but the trails are magical as well,
I enjoyed hosting you and hope you come back again sometime
I have never had a host reach out so much and be so accommodating. Alicia was wonderful!!! The home is absolutely beautiful and so are the sunrises. You will not regret booking this gem! We didn't want to leave!!!

Thanks Mary,
I am so glad you left before the snow storm hit. Just in time! I am told we have well over a foot and more is on its way. I hope your flight back home was not cancelled.
So glad you loved my home, it’s a magical place. I love the winter months at the Bay House because the white swans come down from Canada and they are so beautiful. You may not have seen them because of the impending storm.
The host was superb and very responsive to our needs. The house was very clean and the view from the back was absolutely stunning to the Chesapeake Bay.
wonderful time again, we rent this place every year and its always perfect. very well maintained and the host goes above and beyond to make sure you are taken care of. 5 stars.
We had a great time hiking up the shore of the bay, watching the fireworks, eating smores in the fire pit and going to a nearby vineyard. House had everything we needed for a great holiday weekend.
This home was a perfect retreat for my family. We were in town for a family wedding. The home offered all the comforts of home with beautiful views of the Bay. Thank you Alicia for being a wonderful host!
Well, what a great time we had at this house the house is exactly as advertised, tidy, clean, comfortable, everything close. The view was beautiful, our vacation was amazing. Alicia was very responsive to any question that we had. We definitely would rent again!
Hi Michael,
I loved your private message to me, especially when you said it should be 6 stars and yes please book again in late August or early September. I have time available. So glad you all loved the house and Wow, finding so many sharks teeth was amazing. You all are obviously seasoned fossil hunters.
This was by far our very best experience renting a house. Not only was the spacious and welcoming home clean and comfortable, it also had gorgeous views of the Bay. Our host provided us with friendly and timely communications, and was considerate enough to let us check out a little later on our last day. She certainly went above and beyond to make sure our family getaway was enjoyable and that we had everything we needed. As for the location/neighborhood, it was absolutely enchanting. My kids and husband loved combing the beach for teeth and fossils-- and we found some pretty good ones! Also loved that we got to bring our dogs along. We plan to head back for another stay in the near future!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this property and really couldn’t ask for much more. It was clean and spacious, with all of the amenities you could need for a retreat on the bay. Easy beach access for fossil hunting. The clothes washer and dryer were on the first floor for easy access (not in a damp basement!). We would definitely stay again. Wish we could have stayed for longer this time.
We had a wonderful stay. Alicia was excellent in communication. Amazing view of the bay and only a short drive to Solomon’s Island and Prince Frederick.

Thanks Lindsey,
So glad you all had so much fun. It is a a great party house and the beach is so much fun. Not many places you can go where there is hardly anyone on the beach. Hope to see you back soon.
Beautiful house! We wish we could have stayed longer. Views are amazing. Especially enjoyed watching the sunrise over the bay from the master bed.
We plan to return in warmer weather to enjoy the beach and fishing.

About the host
Hosted by Alicia Yowell
My husband and I purchased this property in 1980. We are in a community called Governors Run that is rich in history. Where our pier exists, it was formerly one of the oldest wharfs in Southern Maryland. At the turn of the century, it was a resort for Washingtonians. A group of us purchased the entire 15 home resort, each owning our individual homes. We have successfully turned into one of the more magical and beautiful spots on the Chesapeake. One day, I will write a book about this great adventure.
Why they chose this property
Beautiful sunrises and panoramic bay views make this three-bedroom/two-bath (sleeps eight) beach house spectacular. It's located on Maryland's western shore, just 45 minutes from Washington, DC. The area is rich in colonial history, as well as in fossils from the Miocene era. Enjoy miles of sandy shoreline, a 450-foot private pier, two-mile nature trail through deep woods, open recreational field, playground, and plenty of fabulous seafood restaurants. This is a magical place. I'm not sure there are words to describe the charm of our warm and inviting home on the bay. The views from every room are simply breathtaking! You'll truly feel like you are on a ship overlooking a vast body of water. The view is constantly changing -- either due to weather, or by the large variety of boats and birds. The house itself has 'yesteryear' charm combined with today's modern conveniences. It has a wrap-around porch that now includes the kitchen where your views are simply magnificent.
What makes this property unique
There are very few communities on the Chesapeake Bay where you can walk for miles on sandy beach, tide/jelly fish permitting. We are one of them. You can also access the American Land Trust miles and miles of nature trails through deep hardwoods along a stream, perfect for birders or those who like the solitude of of the woods.
