Vacation of a Lifetime!!
The Grey Wolf cabin was everything we could have imagined. The kitchen had everything you could ever need, everything was SPOTLESS! I loved the feeling of being out in the forest. I am so glad we decided to stay outside the park. Silver Gate and Cooke City are the neatest little communities. We had a fox and deer in the yard amd saw bears, wolves, coyote, bison...sooooo many bison....in Yellowstone. Driving over Beartooth Pass was also amazing. I will be back someday!!
Perfect for our YNP stay July 2 through July 8
Grey wolf cabin was the perfect location for our family to explore the Northern range of YNP! The cabin is spacious, comfortable, and has everything that our family needed for six beautiful nights! It is very tastefully decorated and truly felt like home. While there, we saw the resident buffalo, lots of mule deer, and for our final morning sendoff, a beautiful cinnamon black bear gazing across the outside deck looking at us through the picture window. Awesome! As others have commented, this cabin is really a house. We slept so well there every night and awakened refreshed for each day of adventure. It is only a short drive to the NE Entrance and also very close to restaurants in Cooke City. Our family would love to return! Highly recommended to all lovers of wildlife.
This property was located very close to the northeast entrance so it was very convenient to enter the Park. Cabin was very comfortable, our stay was perfect.
Grey Wolf Cabin
Grey Wolf Cabin is the perfect destination for anyone visiting Yellowstone National Park and who wants to focus on the wildlife of the Northern Range. The isolation of the cabin is a relief from the crowds of the park while the location so close to the northeast entrance is ideal. We regularly see moose and fox close to the cabin while the wolves and bears of the Lamar Valley are just a few minutes away, or maybe even out the back door! The cabin has everything you might need for your stay and the owners are outstanding hosts. We have many visits to GW under our belts and cannot imagine staying anywhere else. Tranquility, access and convenience are all right here!
Thank you for your wonderful review. I am so glad you enjoy the cabin as much as we do. You never know which animals you will see around the cabin or on the Northern Tier. It is always worth the trip! We look forward to your return in 2020!
We could not get over the cabin. We kept marveling at the location — how it was simultaneously remote and SO close to everything we wanted to see!
Being from Alabama, we were glad to have the number of someone with a snow plow, although we didn’t need it!
The altitude hit two of us hard, so we spent the first day driving to Old Faithful and the surrounding hot springs. After that, we spent some time at the canyon and Mammoth Hot Springs. The biggest treat for us, though, was Lamar Valley. We saw so many grizzlies, black bears, and wolves! It was unreal. We never got over the abundance of baby bison either. We spent the whole week gobsmacked by everything. At the end of the day, we couldn’t believe we were lucky enough to come “home” to such a beautiful space.
We had been especially excited to try to see wolves, so we watched two of the wolf documentaries in the cabin. A perfect way to rest and acclimate to the altitude!
Thank you for opening up your beautiful cabin to some first-time Yellowstone visitors.
We were blown away.
So happy to hear that you had a wonderful time in Yellowstone and at our cabin. Hope you can come back soon!
Great time as always!
While the weather in April is not the greatest, we enjoyed wildlife watching in the Lamar Valley and coming home to a warm, cozy cabin.
Located 1.7 miles from the northeast entrance to Yellowstone National Park, the cabin provides the best access to some of the best wildlife watching in North America, especially wolf watching. Open year round, come enjoy the winter wonderland with cross-country skiing from the front door onto the Bannock Trail. Two pairs of snowshoes are available for your use at the cabin. Wintertime provides some of the best wildlife watching.
