Classic Cape Cod Cottage - Steps from Beach!

Bedrooms 5
Half Baths1
Space 2,000 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

Cottage, 5 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Thank you for your interest in the Simpson Cottage!

This 1930's cottage is a throwback to old Cape Cod and has been enjoyed by my family since then. It's been described as a real 'Summer of '42' cottage if you've seen the movie. Sandy feet and wet towels are really no big deal.

With five bedrooms and 1.5 baths, it can accommodate a large family and is great for kids. The maximum occupancy is 10 people. There is plenty of room to spread out, with an eat-in kitchen, large living room, front porch, and room to lay out in the sun on the side of the house.

The cottage sits about 100 yards from a semi-private sand beach (shared with other houses in the area) where you can walk along the shore for miles, fish, or head down to the public beach in West Dennis for a more lively atmosphere.

There is a shower head with cold and hot water outside for rinsing the salt and sand off, but it is not enclosed.

The cottage has off-street parking for four cars, and there is no street parking available in the neighborhood.

The cottage is regularly served by ice cream trucks.

About Steve Simpson

Hi there! I am Steve Simpson and am the fourth generation of the Simpson family to have grown up spending summers in our cottage. Though I live full-time in Washington, D.C., we have family living less than a mile away (the second generation) ready to help with any problems that might arise when you're enjoying the cottage.

Steve Simpson purchased this cottage in 1933

Why Steve Simpson chose West Dennis

The property was purchased in the 30's before the area was developed. Mostly settled by working class families seeking simple summer retreats, the cottage and many other original cottages in the area were built by our relatives by hand. Many of the cottages in the area still belong to the original families who first came to the area.

So close to beach, went back and forth for food and potty breaks;,2 playgrounds walked to daily, walked to sandbar restaurant. Everything you need within 4-7 minutes drive. Beautiful very "capey" area.

Well it's rustic!

  • 2 of 5

The best part of this property was the location. Inside needs a lot of work. The initial smell of a musty mold was overwhelming to the point where I had to get and inhaler and I don't even have asthma. Second the mattresses were awful. For the same amount of money and proximity to the ocean last year we had real beds, air conditioning and etc.

We had to fix the queen side bed frame which was bent and the bed leaned sideways, we had to fix the coffee pot which didn't work and so on. Good thing we were so handy - but not what you want to do on vacation! This property was way over priced compared to other opportunities.

Perfect summer vacation location

  • 4 of 5

We had an excellent week. We were steps to the beach. The cottage is well maintained with lots of kitchen supplies. The cottage has plenty of space to spread out whether you are out on the porch playing cards. reading in the living room, cooking in the kitchen. Thank you for the perfect place to make lasting memories with family and friends.

My family decided to spend a week at this cottage and it was perfect! We had 8 adults total and we all fit very comfortably in the cottage. The proximity to the beach was great and this cottage was a short drive to many different restaurants, shops, and family fun places. If we had any questions, Steve was extremely quick to answer, which allowed our vacation to be stress free. We will definitely be booking this cottage again in the future!
