Kona Lighthouse Hawaii - FAMILY BEACH HOUSE

The Kona Lighthouse is centrally located in a peaceful neighborhood along the Gold Coast of the Big Island, a 5-mile scenic, oceanfront drive between the towns of Kailua-Kona and Keauhou-Kona. —- Ideal for family and small group vacations. A block from White Sands Beach and across the street from the ocean. Enjoy the private lap pool in a lush tropical garden setting. Open & airy home (approx. 2400 sf) with an amazing ocean view. Enjoy cool ocean breezes flowing through the house night and day. Air conditioning in every bedroom, including the studio.

Note that there is an onsite caretaker who lives in an attached apartment on the ground level. you may see her in the early morning cleaning the pool and the grounds.

Tip... If you have a late-evening departing flight, we highly recommend booking an extra night. - We are not often able to accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs due to guests coming and going on same day and the need for time to clean between guests (big house - lots to clean!). And we are often not able to store luggage past check out time. If you book an extra night, it will allow you the freedom to come and go as you like without having to haul around luggage everywhere you go until your evening flight - and you'll get to really enjoy that last day on the island before heading home!

Note: The state of Hawaii charges accomodations taxes (18.72%). This is in addition to room and cleaning fees, and will be included in your booking total. (Nothing more due upon arrival).

Very welcoming host, and the house was very well-appointed, especially for family travel. Great communication, quick walk to Magic Sands Beach, and easy access to other restaurants and shops as well as to the highway to access other parts of the island. Highly recommend!

This VRBO was perfect for our 3 family, first time in Hawaii vacation. In a quiet residential neighborhood, close to a beautiful beach, our large and open ‘home’ had all the amenities we could possibly need and more. Lynda and Jeff along with Terry were great hosts answering questions within minutes. Eating on the balcony and watching the sunsets were our favorite time of the day. Highly recommend a stay here.

It was a great trip due to a great location. Very clean and lots of room. The beds were very comfortable. The view from the deck is incredible - wonderful sunsets. Having a BBQ grill was great in that we were able to get some food from Costco and cook it up. It is a very short walk to Magic Sands beach where the waves were enjoyable and warm (lots of turtles there!!). We went one night to the restaurant at Magic Sands and had a memorable dinner looking out over the ocean (recommend getting reservations through Open Table). I think there was every possible cooking utensil or appliance that is needed and available in the kitchen. There are air conditioners in each room but you never need to use it as the house is very open and airy. We had two cars and had lots of parking - if you have another car, there is lots of room on the street. The neighborhood is quiet. If you want, the bus stop (our son and his girlfriend rode it - free!) is just down the street. Short drive to several farmers’ market so you can get fresh fruit and veggies. The internet is fast and reliable and lots of games to play. There is so much to say but not enough room. Great place to stay - thanks!!

Perfect location at a good price.

We love this place. It is our second stay here and this time 8 of us enjoyed the pool, view, comfy beds, great showers, birds, geckos and exceptional hospitality.

This property is perfect in every way. Incredible location with all the amenities. Check in was smooth and seamless. The house was well stocked with everything you need for a extended or short stay. We used the downstairs unit as a pool cabana which worked out perfect for our family of 4. A/C in all the bedrooms made sleeping very comfortable. We highly recommend this unit and hopefully will return next year. Thank you Lynda and Craig for the wonderful vacation.Mahalo

If you are a large family like ours or even a couple of friends, this is the place to stay! Easy access to the beach and the Main Street restaurants. Great kitchen to cook in and pool to play in!

Fantastic Family House!

We stayed for Spring Break with our 2 children, another couple, and their daughter. The location was great for nearby beaches! Comfortable beds and well stocked kitchen. 5 stars all around!!

Perfect location!

Our family loved this location near Magic Sands Beach. Spacious and comfortable, this home is well stocked with most basics you’ll need. The on site manager Terry was helpful and friendly.

Whales were outstanding

My wife and stayed here with our two kids and their spouses. Had a great time. Home is centrally located to any tours scheduled and close to some awesome restaurants and shopping. The owner was extremely accommodating to our late night flight. Whales and dolphins were visible off shore from the upper Lanai.

Great central location!

Perfect size and location. We loved that it is so close to all the activities we wanted to do. The view is amazing! The lanai was a wonderful spot to watch the sunset each night. We really enjoyed our stay here. Kitchen was well stocked and beds were comfortable. Pool was refreshing to cool off in. We would definitely stay gere again!

Great stay- position perfect, the house is comfortable , well equiped and super clean. The hosts were a pleasure to deal with. We had a family group of 8 adults staying and there was plenty of room for all of us. Couldn’t be happier and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great place for a family!

The house worked out wonderfully for a family of 4 adults and 4 kids. The house was much nicer in person than in the pictures and it was very comfortable to call home for a week or so. The view is amazing. The pool was great for the kids when we were not at the beach. We would definitely recommend this home for your vacation.

Super Family Vacation Spot

This rental was beyond our expectations. I have rented many times through VRBO and this place was the best equipped of any I have rented. The location was perfect. Lots of room for all us. Winter getaway

Perfect place to escape the Midwest winters. Left South Dakota with a foot of snow and cold weather to arrive at this slice of paradise. Arrived to a nice welcome beautiful view and good friends. House is beautiful view is amazing close to many sights, shopping and food.

Lite house was Right house for 6 adults and two toddlers!

Easy check-in process and a very accommodating property. Location was great for access to all activities on Kona side. Lots of pool toys and plenty of items were available for beach and snorkeling. Thank you for the high chair! That was an unexpected plus and we used it everyday! AC was a great plus for relaxed sleep. Fully equipped kitchen made it easy to keep a flexible schedule. Glad Terry was on property - she was delightful and offered information about local events.

Perfect Kona vacation

Family time

The house is in a great location. Lots of room to spread out. There were 7 of us. I will miss the sunsets from the balcony or across the road at the beach. We were lucky enough to see and hear the high surf. Beautiful.

Reunion by the Beach

Very comfortable home in a beautiful, safe neighborhood for our multigenerational group. Took a hot mug of Kona coffee down to the beach each morning and watched the body surfers catch the waves. Cleaning up at the end of a beach day was easy with the very private, hot shower outside. There was so much to enjoy on the island and the location was perfect for reaching all sites easily. We heartily recommend this property!

Was so nice. Beautiful view, beautiful sunsets. Conveniently located. Lots of rooms and beds. Really appreciated extra gear in the garage for the beach. Lady downstairs was very helpful and friendly. Pool was such a nice alternative to have when the children didnt want to do the beach. Internet connection was great for the whole family.

Craig and Lynda are happy to be the new owners of the Kona Lighthouse (as of March 2021)! As frequent visitors to Hawaii, we finally decided to find our own place in paradise! Craig is a surfer, and avid beach-goer. Lynda also loves the water and the wildlife. Hanging out at the beach, hiking, and exploring the island brings us peace and relaxation. We hope you are able to experience this for yourself, too.

Why they chose this property

The property is located literally a block from the ocean. It is an easy walk to Magic Sands Beach, one of the best beaches on the island. The house is large, open and airy offering plenty of space to spread out. It has a true beach-house vibe. The house has a main upper floor with 3 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms. The lower portion of the house is a separate studio with an additional queen and twin bed. If you want to just relax and enjoy the view while the kids play in the private pool, this is the place for you!
Note: There are lots of stairs - so beware. If you are not able to navigate stairs well, this may not be the property for you.
Terry is your onsite property contact - she lives in the apartment that is connected to the house on the lower level, and is available for any questions or concerns.
The beach is calling....and there is no better place than Hawaii to relax and get away from it all!

What makes this property unique

Lots of beach and pool toys, including beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkels and masks, coolers, etc. Short walk to beach. Plenty of parking space (2 cars in driveway, and some street parking, if needed). Centrally located along the Kona coast, the perfect spot to use as a base for island exploration. Tropical surroundings. Close to town and all the amenities, shopping, restaurants, etc.
