Property could be nice with minimal effort!
I think the term “luxurious home” is very misleading in lieu of the fact that the below is what we experienced.
The “gurgling fountain” was not in operation. The heating ductwork was in desperate need of cleaning. The vents were clogged with dirt, pet hair and debris. The mattresses were extremely uncomfortable and in need of mattress pads. The remote for the upstairs TV was missing. The upstairs bathroom windows needed curtains. It was a bit disconcerting to bath/shower with a full view to the outside. Yes, the windows overlooked the water, but I would have felt a lot more relaxed with the option to close the curtains. The rods were there but the curtains weren’t. The dishwasher made this awful groaning noise when in use and left grit on the glasses. One of the downstairs’ ceiling lights was not working, and the electrical cord for the light was just hanging from the ceiling. The downstairs jetted tub did not work. We could only get water to come out of the shower head. The furniture is very dated, and several pieces were stained. Removing the heavily scented garbage bags would be appreciated by those of us with allergies. A small “Welcome” sign with instructions on how to use the furnace and tubs would be very helpful. The kids loved going down the very narrow, long, steep stairs to reach the water. The location was perfect for what we needed, and we had plenty of room.
It could have been better if updated!
Our family stayed for 3 nights over the Thanksgiving holiday. The view was gorgeous! The house was sufficient in size for all 16 of us. It is badly in need of household amenities and kitchen, bedding & mattress updates. If these are taken care of, we would rent there again for the price.
It was great
Place was awesome. Owner was responsive and great to work with!
Beautiful location for family get together!
This was the perfect spot to get together as a family. Plenty of sleeping room for everyone! The space was large enough to entertain young kids and adults! Great view to wake up to every morning.
This is a lovely home. We had a great time during the Labor Day weekend! The place is spacious and is able to fit 18 people. Highly recommended.
Has Potential, but Needs Care
We booked this in Jan then stayed in August. In reading the recent reviews from July/August I was concerned. I think there is opportunity to make this a 5 star listing as it has the makings, but does require attention from the owners.
- Good location
- Open house and kitchen
- Lots of beds
- Enough seats, kitchen stuff, chairs, etc.
- Large TV
- Great for large groups
- Beautiful views
Areas of improvement:
- Water access picture is misleading; on Zillow it shows ~40 steps to the water; the VRBO does not show the steps nor state it's high bank until the owner provided it in a review. It's not steep and is stable, just misleading so I would update the picture.
- Many beds are stiff; spend a few hundred dollars at Costco to get foam padding for some beds allowing guests to choose if they want soft or firm.
- Glass table in living room: I read in another view they struggled with this, at first we thought it was unnecessary review, but four of our guests hit it hard! It's clear glass, knee high and eventually will break. The glass slides.
- Provide checkin/checkout instructions including common items like:
* Internet access, How to use the TV, etc.
Overall, it's a good house just needs some TLC.
Other Activities: Kayaking, shopping, boating, shelling
