If you are looking for a secluded quiet mountain retreat this is your spot. The home, on Eagle Lake, sits on 11 acres of land and has been in the family since the late 1800's. The original camp was replaced with a modern camp/cabin in the 1960's and has been recently updated.
The views and sunsets are breathtaking! Spend a day at historic Fort Ticonderoga and learn about the important role it played during colonial times.
If you love to kayak, hike, swim or sail, Eagle Lake is the place to be. Quick access to the lakefront is by steps or a path.
A day trip to Burlington Vermont to visit the Shelburne Museum or lunch and shopping in Lake Placid are always a treat. Montreal is 2-4 hours way by car or train--Amtrak has a stop in Ticonderoga. The Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake is a must see as well.
A newly renovated kitchen, a large master bedroom and a great deck are just a few highlights. The downstairs also has 2 comfortable queen futons which are perfect for unexpected guests. Summer is lovely on the lake but don't miss out on the fall foliage--- see the beautiful autumn colors while cruising Lake Champlain on the Carillon, a 60 ft lakeboat.
Minimum stay is 1 week.
We had a wonderful week, starting with watching the final game of the World Cup and ending with an evening of kayaking and canoeing on Eagle Lake. We swam just about every day, hiked up 2 mountains (one hard, one easy), took out the canoe and the kayaks several times, used the bbq, played games in the evening at the long table, and croquet between adventures during the day. Everyone loved the week here - 3 boys, all teens (well, one 20-yr-old), my husband and me too. Early mornings were quiet - just us sipping coffee, reading by the windows and sometimes hearing the loon. Nights were peaceful and falling asleep to the sound of the loon, an owl and the breeze in the trees was very relaxing and we wished it could have been 2 weeks. There is plenty to do, but you have to drive a bit - always worth it. The Adirondack Museum was just over an hour (but great), hikes everywhere, a day over to Vermont well worth it, and so much to do we could not get to. No wifi for these otherwise addicts, and no complaints all week. Hope to make it back. It was lovely, the house was very clean, very comfortable, very well-outfitted and very private. The owner checked in to see if all was going well (via phone). Highly recommend this place!
Our large family of seven fit comfortably into this house, which was clean, attractive and fit all our needs (one note - no cell service!) The lake was the main draw though, it is suitable for swimming and boating and we took our kayaks out every day. (As noted, there is also a kayak and canoe on-site for your use.) Lake traffic is virtually non-existent so serenity abounded! There is not much in the way of a nearby town though (Fort Ticonderoga is the nearest attraction, and it is pretty cool), prepare to drive if you want to be entertained. But for make-your-own outdoor entertainment and a peaceful time by a beautiful lake, the house has much to offer.
We had a great time in this lovely cottage this summer. The house is situated at the very end of the drive which made for quiet privacy during our stay.
Lake views and breezes from the deck, main room, kitchen and master bedroom couldn't be beat. The deck was the perfect place to enjoy the sunset. Well equipped kitchen, huge grill, clean bathrooms and full size washer/dryer were great. Ample window seating along the lake side of the house was enjoyed by all.
The front lawn was a nice spot for frisbee and croquet. The lake was quiet with just a few motor boats during our late August stay. Canoe rides to the lake's islands became a daily requirement at the request of the kids.
The owners left detailed info about the house and area and checked in to make sure everything was going smoothly. A great vacation experience.
