Do you want to leave civilization behind, and have your own private cabin in the woods? Then Tyler’s Cabin is for you!

It's hard to imagine, but unpopulated areas like this DO still exist in the Sierras - where you can go for days without seeing or hearing anyone, your kids can safely play outside and just be kids, and your dog can romp off leash.

What separates us from other cabins in the area? Solitude, solitude, solitude! Tyler’s Cabin is a remote and secluded 2-story cabin situated on 8 acres of untouched mountain wilderness, at the end of a private road. Your own little private piece of paradise.

The cabin is surrounded by pine trees and a wildflower-filled meadow, with not another home in sight. Tyler's Cabin backs up to U.S.F.S. land, so the cabin's location places you smack in the middle of your own personal sanctuary. The cabin is perfect for a peaceful romantic getaway, a family vacation, an inspiring writer and artist's retreat, or just a place to go to get away from it all and enjoy unspoiled nature and solitude.

INSIDE: The cabin sleeps 5 people comfortably. Upstairs you’ll find 2 semi-private sleeping areas divided by a staircase and removable curtain (each side has a Sealy Posturepedic queen-sized bed), a ½ bath (toilet, sink and vanity).

Downstairs you’ll find one queen sized sofa bed romantically placed in the living room, across from the woodstove. There is also one queen sized futon in the private back bedroom which doubles as a bedroom/entertainment room (complete with flat screen T.V. and extensive current video library.) Finally, there is a full bath (toilet/commode/shower) downstairs right off the private bedroom. This is a perfect set up for the kids, with the parents upstairs in their own private retreat.

The open floor plan downstairs allows for comfort and togetherness. Overstuffed chairs flank the updated wood-burning stove, and are a perfect spot to curl up with a good book, while the evening meal is cooked nearby.

The cabin is fully stocked, and comes complete with condiments, herbs, baking supplies, pots, pans, utensils, and all modern appliances – even a rice cooker and waffle maker! All of our complimentary supplies and toiletries help our guests feel that Tyler's Cabin is their home away from home.

The cabin is wired throughout for "mountain speed" internet access (1 gig per day, per family), so using your laptop or IPad anywhere in the cabin is a breeze for research and checking emails. Additionally, there is an “office” area upstairs, which includes adult guest access to a fax/copy/scanner. For entertainment you'll find a 40' flat screen TV and DVD player downstairs, as well as a wireless music amplifier in the living room to enjoy your favorite music.

For our furry guests we provide doggy beds, water and food dishes, toys and treats. Did we mention that dogs can hike with you - off leash?

OUTSIDE: The front and back decks provide complete privacy, serenity, bird watching, reading, barbecuing, sunbathing or doing absolutely nothing. There’s even a rock fire pit off the back deck for roasting marshmallows and hot dogs under a star-filled summer sky. The meadow areas surrounding the cabin, and long driveway, are perfect for throwing a ball for your furry friend.

LOCATION: The cabin is situated 4 hours east of the Bay Area (just off Hwy 4) in one of the last remaining unspoiled wilderness areas of the high Sierras. It is 45 miles east of Murphy's, 22 miles east of Arnold, 1.5 miles from the town of Bear Valley, and 3.5 miles from Lake Alpine. Even though the cabin is less than a mile off Hwy 4, you'll feel like you’re hundreds of miles away from civilization.

ACTIVITIES: In Bear Valley your kids can attend Bear Valley summer camp (http://www.bearvalley.com). The whole family can dine seasonally at several different eateries ranging from gourmet to pizza. You can sip a drink at the Creekside Bar & Restaurant located in the historic Bear Valley Lodge, stock up on supplies at the General Store (circa 1850), rent kayaks and mountain bikes, attend the Bear Valley Music Festival (http://www.bearvalleymusicfestival.org) work up a good sweat at the annual “Death Ride” over Ebbett’s Pass, rock climb, hike hundreds of miles of trails (portions of the Pacific Crest Trail, the Emigrant Trail, and the breathtaking Carson/Iceberg Wilderness), go geocaching, climb to the top of one of the numerous peaks and take in the awe-inspiring views of the Dardanelles, Ebbett’s Pass, Inspiration Point, and even Yosemite's Half Dome (on a clear day.)

Just 3.5 miles from the cabin sits granite-surrounded Lake Alpine where Canadian geese roost, and ospreys, golden and bald eagles have been spotted. The lake has a strict 10 mph speed limit for all boats – so it’s quiet and perfect for bird watching, sun bathing, paddle boarding, kayaking and canoeing. There are even some sandy beaches for little swimmers. Anglers can fish for rainbow trout, and the lake gets stocked with full-sized fish on a regular basis. We’ll share our favorite fishing spots with you, and what the fish are gobbling up. You can rent paddle boats, canoes, and small aluminum motor boats right at the lake. At the end of your day you can enjoy a meal or drink at the Lake Alpine Lodge Restaurant and Bar. To help with your outdoor summer fun, we provide fishing poles, fishing tackle, a (blow up) kayak, Grumman canoe (w/life jackets), fanny packs, back packs, and ice chests.

VENTURING OUT: You'll find historic Murphys, Angels Camp, and Columbia. There's a little something for everyone in each of those towns: antiquing, exploring caves, zip-lining across a canyon, wine tasting at numerous wineries, enjoying an outdoor concert at Ironstone Vineyards (http://www.ironstonevineyards.com), horseback riding, or visiting a historic gold mining town where cars are not allowed (only covered wagons).

Tyler's cabin is the perfect blend: You can be away from it all, or be right in the middle of high mountain action-packed fun. The only thing missing from Tyler's cabin is YOU.

                                                                A beautiful place

                                                                Sylvia B.

We absolutely loved our stay at Tyler's Cabin. Our only regret was not staying a bit longer. The cabin was beautiful, away from it all but yet with all the commodities of home. We definitely plan to come back!

The cabin is in great condition and nicely secluded

                                                                David C.

Our stay at the cabin was a great experience. It has everything you could want in a home away from home. The owners provide you with games to play with your kids, all the wood you need for the fire pit and a kayak and canoe. The cabin also has a nice propane barbecue located on the back deck with extra propane provided. The only regret is that we should've stayed longer. If anyone out there wants a nice cozy cabin with a lot of the convenience's of home combined with the seclusion it provides, this is for you. Highly recommended. My family and I will return. A thank you to the owners from the Caceres family.

                                                                AMAZING VACATION

                                                                Jerry R.

This was one of the best vacations that our family has had in a long time. We are a family of 4 with two adult, professional children and "getting away from it all" was our top priority, as well as including our much loved Lab/Border Collie, Emma (who honestly thought this vacation was all about her!) MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

We all felt as thought we were sharing our friends home as it was so comfortable and filled with everything and anything we might have needed to make our stay as easy as possible. The kitchen was stocked with spices/herbs to assist with our cooking, the first night spent grilling salmon and sitting in the beautiful quiet. It was as well equipped as our own homes: pots, pans, coffee pots, etc

Mornings were spent on the front deck doing yoga, reading, drinking coffee/tea: we could hardly get our day started much before noon. Then it was off to Alpine Lake for relaxing and absorbing the sun, floating on tubes and taking in the beauty of the snow capped mountains in July. Hiking was also included, Duck Lake and Inspiration Point, and Pacific Grove which even had a bear!

We were able to visit a friend in Arnold for an afternoon and they were very disappointed we wouldn't return as we were so in love with Tyler's Cabin . We are so grateful to the owners for opening up their lovely, simple, comfortable home to us, having faith that we would cherish it as they certainly do.

Our travels have recently taken each of us on some fantastic trips, South America, Alaska, South East Asia and yet this home away from home totally rejuvenated each of us as to what we needed.

Thank you so much for providing us a wonderful experience.

                                                                Owner's Response:

Ohmygosh Jerry, Maureen and daughters. Thank you for the lovely review. It was such a pleasure having you at Tyler's cabin as our guests, and glad you enjoyed our home. Yes, over the years we've tried to anticipate our guests needs and stocked everything a family would need in a remote location (meal prep, etc.). As you saw, you are definitely away from it all! Hope you choose to stay with us again, and btw we will definitely visit Rutiz Farms next time we're down in Central California!

First time here, it was fantastic! Very tranquil and relaxing. Cabin was clean and well stocked, and ready for us to just relax and enjoy. Owners were a pleasure to deal with, easy to get ahold of, and followed through on everything. Definitely plan on returning!

Our third year here for our annual women's retreat - perfect in every way!

We have returned now 3 years in a row to this magical spot. It is perfect for a quiet hideaway. The owners have thought of everything to make their guest's stay absolutely perfect in every way. Their home is comfortable & has every modern appliance. They have thought of everything to make the guest feel like they have just entered their own homes. Each year there are more thoughtful additions. Come, relax, enjoy & use it as a base for the area's fabulous activities! We come for a women's retreat, take hikes, cook great meals & relax.
