About the Property
Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)
If you love to cross country ski or snowshoe through freshly fallen snow, follow a GPS to find a cabin tucked back in the woods where all you hear is the wind, curl up with a good book by the fire while it snows outside, then Tyler’s Cabin is for you. (Warning: This cabin is a serious trek on foot for nearly a mile in snow, and not for the feint-hearted. You cannot drive into the cabin.)
Tyler’s Cabin is a remote and secluded 2-story cabin situated on 8 acres of untouched mountain wilderness, less than a mile off Hwy 4. The road into the cabin is not plowed in the winter, nor is it well-marked, so this is not your typical or easily-accessed winter cabin. That’s what makes it so unique and challenging.
Picture this: You park at the road head (at Hwy 4), load up your gear on a toboggan and in backpacks, slap on your skis or snowshoes, and trek into the cabin in 1-2 foot fresh powder. It's not easy, with some smalls hills and gullies to keep things interesting. Nearing the 1 mile post, and you'll know you're almost there when the trees open up to the snowy little piece of Heaven seen in the pictures.
INSIDE: The cabin sleeps 6 people comfortably. Upstairs you’ll find 2 semi-private sleeping areas divided by a staircase and removable curtain (each side has a Sealy Posturepedic queen-sized bed), a ½ bath (toilet, sink and vanity).
Downstairs you’ll find one queen sized sofa bed romantically placed in the living room, across from the woodstove. There is also one queen sized futon in the private back bedroom which doubles as a bedroom/entertainment room (complete with flat screen T.V. and current video library.) There is a full bath (toilet/commode/shower) downstairs right off the private bedroom. This is a perfect set up for the kids, with the parents upstairs in their own private retreat.
The open floor plan downstairs allows for comfort and togetherness. Overstuffed chairs flank the updated wood-burning stove, and are a perfect spot to curl up with a good book, while the evening meal is cooked nearby.
The cabin is fully stocked, and comes complete with toiletries, condiments, baking supplies, pots, pans, utensils, and all modern appliances – even a rice cooker and waffle maker! So all you’ll need to bring is your food.
The cabin has wireless high speed internet access, so using your laptop or IPad anywhere in the cabin is a breeze. For entertainment you'll find a 40” flat screen TV and DVD player downstairs, games, puzzles and a book exchange.
For our furry guests we provide doggy beds, water and food dishes, toys and treats.
LOCATION: The cabin is situated 4 hours east of the Bay Area (just off Hwy 4) in one of the last remaining unspoiled wilderness areas of the high Sierras. It is 45 miles east of Murphy's, 22 miles east of Arnold, 1.5 miles from the town of Bear Valley, and 3.5 miles from Lake Alpine. Even though the cabin is less than a mile off Hwy 4, you'll feel like you’re hundreds of miles away from civilization.
ACTIVITIES IN BEAR VALLEY: In Bear Valley you will find incomparable cross country skiing on over 500 acres at the Bear Valley X-Country Ski Resort. Or you can downhill ski at the Bear Valley Ski Resort where there are typically no lines, no crowds and inexpensive lift tickets. You can snowshoe, x-country ski or ride snowmobiles on Hwy 4 past Lake Alpine (which is plowed during the winter), or trek down to Spicer Reservoir (also plowed during the winter.) You can rent snowmobiles in Bear Valley, or bring your own and ride all the way up to Highland Lakes.
VENTURING OUT: You'll find historic Murphys, Angels Camp, and Columbia. There's a little something for everyone in each of those towns: antiquing, exploring caves, zip-lining across a canyon, wine tasting at numerous wineries, enjoying an outdoor concert at Ironstone Vineyards, horseback riding, or visiting a historic gold mining town where cars are not allowed (only covered wagons).
Tyler's cabin is the perfect blend: You can be away from it all, or be right in the middle of high mountain action-packed fun. The only thing missing from Tyler's cabin is YOU!
NOTE: IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SECURE A RESERVATION FOR THIS CABIN, OR GET A QUOTE FOR YOUR STAY, PLEASE EMAIL OWNER DIRECTLY. OWNER DOES NOT BOOK OR RECEIVE PAYMENTS THROUGH VRBO OR HOME AWAY (THEY CHARGE GUESTS A SERVICE CHARGE.)
