I’m sorry you had some frustration about check-in but I’m not understanding what the confusion was. Our properties, whether booking direct or on VRBO, are instant booking - you do not have to wait to be approved. When you book you get immediate and very specific instructions about check in place and times. Additionally, if you will be arriving after our office hours we are happy to make arrangements with you. In order to do that guests send their identification credentials ahead of time before we can provide access to the property. In this case, your rental was also in a community with 24/7 manned security and they now require an access form with the names of occupants prior to your arrival. This is the condo community’s rule not ours - we are only tasked with making sure that procedure is followed so they don’t turn you away at the gate. I invite you to call my office, I would be happy to speak to you in more detail so the next time you return you have a seamless and confusion-free check-in. As to the cost of the insurance, when you book through VRBO or any one of the third-party websites…they are only a marketing site and while they offer optional add ins like travel insurance the cost is unrelated to the actual rental property or our management company. In this day and age though, if you purchased it, you were very smart to do so. Because we are a property management company with regular office hours after-hours calls go to the answering service. When the call is an emergency they call and send texts, non-stop, to our on-call rooms management team until one of us returns their call. When the call(s) are non an emergency, they simply email the caller's information to the office to be addressed in the morning.
