About Jairo

Greetings! My name is Wendy and I had a dream to create a space where you could enjoy nature, dream and think. A place where healing occurs and kids run free to explore the world around them just like the good ol' days. Spent much of my career in the investment business in SF, grew up outside Chicago and I enjoy yoga, traveling and learning. I've travelled extensively worldwide and must say, Mt. Shasta ranks at the top of my list of places I could settle down and enjoy life.

Jairo purchased this house in 2006

Why Jairo chose Mount Shasta

Growing up in the Midwest, I missed the change of seasons and Mt. Shasta is glorious throughout the year. The people are so friendly and warm, the quaint mountain town is quite 'hip' and it is an easy, four hour drive from San Francisco. The area is ripe with outdoor activities all year long and it is not crowded like other California mountain towns!

What makes this house unique

The property was set up for small or large groups to enjoy. Sit and gaze at the mountain or enjoy the sounds of Wagon Creek flowing by while breathing the fresh air from the forest. Plenty to do and see right on the property. Swim in the pond, ride the zip line, hike the trail, have a ping-pong tournament, foosball or dance under the night sky. Read, meditate, play a game or catch up on some much needed rest. It's all here and available! We can also help with other outside services if needed. You name it, we'll try and help!

I've had such wonderful feedback from all of our guest so far as to what a special place Bodhana is and how the pictures do not do it justice. Many have said it was their best vacation that they can remember. There is plenty of space on the property so you do not feel crowded and have room to roam. You can do as much or as little as you'd like. Town is a couple of miles away and has plenty of services, restaurants, stores if desired. If you are interested in unrehearsed living, come explore Bodhana!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Wendy!

My family and I thank you so much for giving us the opportunity of vacationing at beautiful Bodhana. What a wonderful place it is with such beautiful view of Mt. Shasta! Very private and serene with just the sound of the creek running and the birds chirping was fantastic.

Everything went well. We all had a great time & hated to come back home. We were impressed at how much Bodhana had to offer for a perfect vacation.

The accomodations were plentiful for our family of 8 adults & 14 month old baby girl. The loft was great for my granddaughter to play with her toys but she also enjoyed the outdoors so much. We had a very happy little girl!

Although we were 8 adults, we never felt cramped is well designed. We all took turns at cooking & were all pleased with how well the kitchen was equipped. This was actually the best out of all the rental vacations we've had.

We had karaoke night in the library area as well as some scrapbooking during the day. Of course, the game room was fantastic as everyone could play different game at the same time. The barn & garden were just charming. The lounging area outside with the view of Mt. Shasta was just wonderful. My daughter enjoyed doing yoga in the morning on the deck with such view.

Everyone had fun zip lining, fishing, jumping on trampoline. The area was beautiful for bicycle riding and the museum nearby was very interesting. The guys went golfing & were surprised at how close the golf course is to Bodhana.

We all appreciated the town not being far especially for groceries & ordering pizza for our last dinner.

The weather was great. It did rain one afternoon but we didn't mind at all. It was just as wonderful!

Wendy, all that just so you can see we had such a beautiful vacation at Bodhana. Ah...nothing like nature to recharge our batteries!!! Your vision was absolutely right on the dot.

We all agree we would love to go back to Bodhana and definitely will recommend it to anyone interested in this type of vacation.

Again, thank you so much for allowing us to stay at beautiful Bodhana.

New Years Celebration 2018

  • 5 of 5

My extended family and I have spent the past 8 years renting beautiful properties in either Lake Tahoe and Mt Shasta the week between Christmas and New Years. This year we chose Bodhana because we had heard great things about the location. We have had some great experiences and some not so great experiences. Bodhana would have to be near the top of our list! The peaceful and spacious surroundings coupled by the proximity to activities and entertainment made our vacation this year one of the best we have had. Jairo & Wendy take a personal approach to customer service and were available and attentive to our needs. I would highly recommend Bodhana.

we love the bodhana house!

  • 5 of 5

This is where we stay every year when we go skiing in Shasta. The house has everything you need and more! The kitchen is fully stocked so we cook every night and eat at the big dining table. We all relax in the cozy living room in front of the fire each night. Our dog loves it the best!! She gets to run around in the vast outdoor space. The kids take the sleds on the hills, hike around the property and zipline over the pond! And the game room!! We'll be back next year!

Deeply peaceful.... A truly special location with enchanting views and magical nooks

  • 5 of 5

LOVED our stay at Bodhana. My boyfriend and I stayed for the weekend, and it was the ideal dose of cozy moments reading by the fireplace, mixed with loads of inspiration while taking in the enchanting views from the living room. The floor to ceiling windows and cathedral ceiling in the living room made it my new favorite place to unplug and do nothing. The entire property is full of surprises, like peaceful nooks to sit by the pond, a laughing buddha and mini trails that arch around the 20 acres of land. This was the ideal spot for our romantic getaway, and I'm envisioning gathering friends for a writer's retreat for my next visit!

Family reunion

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time at Bodhana. Stress-free place to visit with the family. Lot's of room and activities to please everyone and places to get away when needed. In fact we barely left the property except to shop for food and libations and a walk to Lake Siskyou. Our only disappointment was smoke from the wildfires (not very close luckily) that blocked the lovely view of Mt. Shasta.

Our Best Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We just enjoyed the best family vacation we have ever had. Bodhana is the most delightful venue we have found for our family, and we wish to go back every year. We were so pleased with the quality of the bedding, the kitchen equipment, the entertainment equipment, and just all of the facilities. The pond and zipline were popular, as well as morning reading in chairs under the trees and the trail around the property. My dog and I made that trip twice a day, much to his delight. We also enjoyed our meals on the deck (it was hot) and badminton, ping pong, etc. We were treated to a magnificent sunset over Mount Shasta the last night of our stay. What a delight!

Great Views, Activities, and Lots of Space

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful Thanksgiving at Bodhana! The view of Shasta was breathtaking, the zip line exhilarating, and the space perfect for a multi-generational family. There was plenty to do on the property and it was easy to get up to the mountain for mountain biking and snow play. Even when the rain came and we couldn't see the mountain we enjoyed leftovers in the cozy house, and walked the trails between downpours. It was great to be so close to town yet feel secluded on the property. Having so many different spaces - game room, loft, deck, pond meant something for everyone, and ability to get some quiet time. It is nice having the one bedroom separate for early risers, etc.
