About this property

Ocoee Log Cabin steps from Ocoee in resort village

Summary:

Discover the perfect hideaway on the shores of the famous Ocoee River, Ocoee Cabin at Welcome Valley Village, a Timberroot Rustic Retreat.

The storybook cabin's vaulted ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows provide an unobstructed view of the Ocoee River, less than 50 feet from the front porch. The riverfront cabin sleeps up to 4 and features a full kitchen, stone fireplace, and sunken Jacuzzi tub. Outside you'll enjoy river views and private fire pit.

The Space:

Welcome Valley Village consists of six beautiful cabins and three glamping wagons on a 17-acre gated property, surrounded by lush forests, winding trails, and over 900 feet of private riverfront on the world-famous Ocoee River. This property is owned and operated by Timberroot, a small, family-owned business that specializes in creating rustic spaces that allow you to relax, recharge, and reconnect with nature.

Whether it's a family vacation, destination wedding, romantic weekend getaway, or a work trip, Ocoee Cabin at Welcome Valley Village has everything you need to make the most of your time on the Ocoee River.

This 1850-square-foot, two-story log cabin may look rustic, but it contains all the comforts you can imagine.

Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light and an expansive view of the Ocoee River.

The all-wood cabin is beautifully finished with rustic charm. The cabin is fully equipped with dishes, linens, toiletries, and everything you need to enjoy your time on the Ocoee. A bar made of hand-peeled logs separates the living room from the full kitchen. The living room has a large stone fireplace and a two-person jacuzzi tub built into an alcove directly across from the fireplace.

The cabin can comfortably sleep a total of 7 guests in one queen bed in a downstairs bedroom and another full-size bed plus two twin beds in the loft and a full-size futon in the living room. The cabin has one full bath with a shower.

Wander a few feet down the wooded path down to the riverside deck and pavilion, perfect for swimming, fishing, tubing, or simply enjoying the view. Then spend the evening's fireside, roasting marshmallows at your private riverside fire pit or curled up with a good book indoors next to the mountain stone fireplace.

Pets are not allowed at Ocoee cabin. Check out our pet-friendly accommodations if you'd like to bring your fur babies to Welcome Valley Village.

Guest Access:

Your cabin features a lock box at the door for easy, self-service check-in. Your code to the box will arrive as check-in approaches.

Beyond your cabin, Welcome Valley Village is yours to explore. Wander 17 forested acres bordered by the Ocoee River along beautifully landscaped trails and shared common areas. Head down to the riverside dock to swim, fish, or drop in a tube, SUP, or kayak. The Riverside Pavilion is open to all guests except when reserved for private events. We just ask that you be respectful of fellow guests as you enjoy the property.

The Neighborhood:

Welcome Valley Village sits in the heart of Tennessee's Ocoee River corridor — where the Cherokee National Forest meets world-class whitewater. The Ocoee River hosted the 1996 Olympic kayak and canoe events, and today it's one of the best places in the Southeast for rafting, tubing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Beyond the river, there's no shortage of adventure. Hike to Benton Falls, mountain bike the Tanasi and Chilhowee trail systems, go horseback riding through the forest, or soar through the treetops on a zipline course. Parksville Lake is just down the road for swimming, fishing, and boating. For a scenic day trip, drive the Cherohala Skyway or head to the charming twin towns of Copperhill, TN and McCaysville, GA. Chattanooga and its attractions — Rock City, Ruby Falls, the Tennessee Aquarium — are about an hour away. Out here, the adventure doesn't stop at the front door.

Summer is peak season on the Ocoee. The Middle Ocoee runs most days from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and the Upper Olympic section runs on weekends through September. Both sections run on TVA dam release schedules, so it's worth checking dates before you plan. Parksville Beach is the local swimming spot when you want something calmer, and the Hiwassee River, about 30 minutes away, is worth the drive for a lazy float or tubing trip. Welcome Valley Village is a perfect home base for all your summer fun.

Getting Around:

Welcome Valley Village is located approximately three miles from the town of Benton, Tennessee, and 20 minutes from Cleveland, Tennessee.

Travel in this area typically requires access to an automobile and the property is ideally situated to reach dozens of Tennessee attractions by car.

Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport is just under an hour from Welcome Valley Village. You can typically reach either Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) or Nashville International Airport (BNA) in under three hours.

About the host

Host profile image
As a family of 10, we often find it necessary to get away from the noise of modern life in order to connect with our kids. We have experienced amazing adventures as a family from the Great Smoky Mountains to the Canyon walls of Zion National Park and along the way we have found opportunities to become hosts to fellow nature-loving travelers.

Our first opportunity for creating memorable vacation experiences began in 2018 when Nicole & I purchased the property next to our family home. In a labor of love, we converted the existing trailer park into Wauhatchie Woodlands, a family-friendly rustic retreat at the foot of Lookout Mt. TN. We replaced the trailers with tiny log cabins naming them after our 9 children, and a number of beautiful people that we have “adopted” into our family over the years.

Nicole and I feel that creating opportunities for families to connect is an important part of the vacation experience. In order to facilitate family bonding, we included gathering spaces throughout the property with fire pits, private hot tubs, a playground, and a duck pond.

Our little slice of heaven grew to include our Skyuka Chalet, Wauhatchie Blue House, the May Family Home, and the newly renovated Alford Hill House.

In 2020 our second opportunity to host vacationers came when we acquired Pinewoods Resort in Duck Creek Village Utah. Utah is a state that has held a special place in my heart since the moment I experienced her breathtaking beauty in a person as a college student. Nicole and I have taken our children out there many times and now that my eldest daughter is attending college at the University of Utah, I have an “excuse” to fly out there on a regular basis.

Welcome Valley Village is our most recent opportunity to host fellow travelers and we hope to live up to the legacy its original founder Warnie Dooly Finnell left behind.
