RIVER BEND HILLS CABIN in Crumpler, NC has breezy porches with long-range views of rolling hills in a bend of the N. fork of the New River. See river from 2 sides! Modern decor + comfort! Close to national parks and is perfect if you like to fish, hike, tube, kayak, ski, shop, or just sit and enjoy nature. Just down the road the quaint down town of West Jefferson offering antique shopping, restaurants, wineries, breweries and unique shops. Comfort at its best. Has everything you need!

This cozy cabin has a warm comfortable vibe with contemporary furnishings and decor. No bear here! You will not want for a thing, as we work hard to make sure you have everything you could possibly need. Enjoy luxurious linens and beds you will sink in to at the end of your day. Be treated to special little touches like locally made goats milk soap, farm fresh eggs, locally grown flowers, bottle of wine or local cheeses.

The front porch is truly the best room in the house where you can see sunrises to one side and sunsets on the other, with views of the ancient New River just below. It's a 5 minute walk to some of the best fishing, tubing and kayaking in NC. Close by is charming West Jefferson with shopping and plenty of restaurants. The cabin is very accessible in the winter, as you are not far off main roads and it sits at just 2,600 ft. elevation.

In under an hour, reach numerous state parks with miles of hiking trails, the Blue Ridge Trail, the Appalachian Trail, mountain biking, and lots of other outdoor activities. Explore nearby Virginia, since you are close to the wild horses of Grayson Highlands State Park, the Virginia Creeper Trail and the quaint town of Damascus.

Explore some of our culinary gems such as the River House Inn and local farm raised food available at the weekly farmer's market. Ashe Country is home to the East Coast's largest Christmas tree farms as well as local U-Pick apple and pumpkin farms. You are under an hour to Boone, Blowing Rock, Appalachian, Sugar and Beech ski resorts, making this central location to any outdoor activity you like to do with friends or family.

You can do as much or as little as you want at River Bend Hills Cabin, sitting in peaceful serenity with a good book or exploring the great outdoors! We are happy to help you design your perfect mountain vacation!

Great fall weekend getaway

Our family of 4 absolutely loved the Cabin and our ventures into West Jefferson. The cabin was well stocked and had everything we needed, and the views from the front porch were spectacular. Our kids loved playing the in large front yard and sleeping in the loft bedroom at night. We have stayed in several places in the NC mountains and this ranks among the best of them! Thanks for a great time!

Wonderful home close to West Jefferson

We absolutely loved staying at this property. It was very comfortable and offered the serenity we were craving. We especially enjoyed the front porch. It was the perfect place to enjoy coffee in the morning and to watch fireflies from during the evening. Such a quiet location!

Cute, Comfortable, and Clean

We loved our stay at Christin's property. It's cute, comfortable, and clean- and a fairly short, absolutely beautiful drive to Grayson Highlands. Sitting on the porch listening to the birds during the day and watching the fire flies at night was perfect. It even got cold enough to use the fire pit one night. Also, Christin is very hospitable, checking in on us after our arrival and offering some great suggestions, ones that vacationers might not know. We hope to visit again soon.

Amazing Cabin

The experience was truly wonderful. The cabin is amazing. It was cozy, nicely decorated. Stoked thoughtfully for families. The location is scenic very beautiful. It should be on everyone’s places to visit list!

My husband and I moved permanently to Ashe Country in the summer of 2021. We love being on the River and enjoying all this area has to offer. We just started renting our short term vacation cabin in July 2021, so we tend to go out of our way to make our guests feel special. We love the outdoors, our two dogs Holly and Roxy and spending time with new friends we've made in the area.

Why they chose this property

Being from a large city in NC, we knew we wanted to retire in the mountains. This cabin came on the market just as we were preparing to make our move. It couldn't be more convenient to us and couldn't be more perfect for our first time property. It had so much charm that we knew we could update it and put in all the little touches that we love when we stay in other rental properties. We co-own the house with a friend who does interior design and a family member who adds her special touches of charm. It's a great collaboration of styles to make it a perfect hidden gem.

What makes this property unique

The view, the view, the view! From the porch you can see the sun rise and set, hear the moo of the cows across the river, and the babbling waters of the world's second oldest river below. We love that it is peaceful and quiet without being too far away from civilization. We love that the location offers such a wide variety of activities while being so close by. We also love that it's a small cabin without being cluttered and cramped. It's a small cabin feel with big cabin amenities.
