About the property

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 11)

Perfect family ski vacation property! Fully equipped mountain home with breathtaking views of the ski hill. Four bedrooms (one open loft) and two full bathrooms. Sleeps eleven (11) with two private rooms with King beds, one room with 4 bunk beds, and an open loft with a bunk bed and a twin. Even your own private sledding hill just outside your door with all the toys!

Just minutes to Squaw Valley Ski Area/Lifts with spectacular mountain views.

This wonderful, Norwegian-style, ski 'Hytte,' or cabin, is the perfect place for a family getaway. This is one of Squaw Valley's (Olympic Valley) original homes built for the Olympic Games in 1960. The house has been beautifully updated, with spectacular views of Squaw Valley from the living areas and a huge, wraparound deck. The living area has beautiful, high ceilings and lots of seating all centered around a cozy, rock fireplace. There is also a separate, sound-proof, TV room for those who want some quiet time.

The kitchen is well equipped for those groups that would rather dine in. With views of the mountains, the dining room will surely be a great place for some fun and memorable family meals. Great for entertaining!

For those of you who want to hit the slopes, you are only a few minutes drive from the ski lifts.

In summer you can enjoy the wonderful hikes close to the cabin, take a leisurely ride up the majestic Truckee River bike bath to Lake Tahoe, or wander down to the new Village at Squaw for your morning coffee or to explore all the wonderful new shops. There are also many fine restaurants close in and around the Village.

Mountain bikers will enjoy the many trails around Squaw Valley and Lake Tahoe, and golfers have the ultimate challenge with Squaw's Robert Trent Jones-designed 'links' golf course right outside your door!

Squaw Valley is located just 45 minutes from Reno International Airport, and a short, six-mile drive or bike ride to the west shore of Lake Tahoe. Three and one-half hour drive from San Francisco.

Why Eric Magnuson chose Olympic Valley

This cabin is one of the original 10 homes built in the Valley by our family for the 1960 Winter Olympic Games. The lot was chosen for its central location and hillside position offering views of the entire valley and ski hill.

Worth the money!

  • 4 of 5

My family really enjoyed our stay, the history of the home made it extra special. Eric made sure we were happy and well taken care of.

This home is great for large groups with plenty of space to spread out. Our group was small and it was well suited for that too.

And you can't beat sitting on the deck!

Beautiful, cozy cabin perfect for a weekend ski trip

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Eric's cabin was the best; Eric called us in advance to run through the details of our arrival and answer any questions we may have. The cabin is beautifully designed - there's plenty of space and we found everything we needed there to have a great weekend. It's really close to the Squaw Ski Resort and the village. I imagine the cabin must be great to stay in summertime as well -- would love to come back!

Our family had an outstanding time in this classic cabin. It is strategically located close to the Village, making trips back and forth to the Village quick and easy. The cabin is well maintained, comfortable, and spacious. We will almost certainly be back!

Family atmosphere

  • 4 of 5

Plenty of room, gorgeous view of the mountains, somewhat dated but very functional. If you're hoping for "luxury", don't be disappointed that the small sauna is in the basement and does not have an adjacent shower, but overall the house seems great for family with kids. The owner is very nice, involved in the rental process, and truly cares that you have a nice stay.

Gorgeous and comfortable cabin

  • 5 of 5

Many thanks to the Magnuson family! We had a lovely stay. The cabin is nothing short of idyllic - just the perfect Tahoe accommodations. Stylish and well-appointed with everything one could need, with perfect touches like the retro Scandinavian/Japanese window coverings. We had such a wonderful time and hope to be back again soon!

Beautiful spacious cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We had 8 adults in this fantastic cabin across the street from Squaw. The cabin was quite roomy (except for the bedroom with the bunk beds - that's ideal for kids) & the view is amazing! The living room, kitchen & dining room are open & there was plenty of space for us to relax. Definitely will go back!
