Location is everything at Lake Tahoe! Our cabin is located strategically in the heart of Olympic Valley, literally minutes from the base of the ski hill. This mountain cabin is fully equipped with four bedrooms (one open loft), two full bathrooms, nicely updated kitchen with new appliances, laundry room, and a sound-proof TV room. Sleeps eleven (11) with two private rooms with King beds, one room with 4 bunk beds, and an open loft with a bunk bed and a twin.

During the Winter, the new base to base Gondola is open that connects Palisades to the Alpine Meadows Ski Area next door. Free shuttle to ski hill via "Mountaineer" shuttle service. Book thru "Mountaineer APP" via app store on your cell phone. No need to leave the Valley and deal with all the traffic! You're already there!
In summer you can enjoy the wonderful hikes close to the cabin, take a leisurely ride up the majestic Truckee River bike bath to Lake Tahoe, or wander down to the new Village at Palisades Tahoe for your morning coffee or to explore all the wonderful new shops and fine restaurants.

This was our second year staying at Eric’s home and we had a fantastic time. It’s a great family home and super cozy. This time we were blessed with a 5ft snowfall during our stay which presented its own challenges but Eric spent a ton of time helping us navigate from afar - getting a shoveling crew to come out, etc. The location of this home can’t be beat for anyone skiing at Palisades. There was some truly crazy traffic on peak days during our visit, and being walking distance from the base (through a gorgeous nature preserve, I might add) helped us skip the lines. Overall a great place to stay!
My siblings, friends and I spent the weekend at Eric’s cabin. The home was perfect for accommodating everyone in our group. The beds were comfortable and had quality sheets. There was everything we needed for cooking, we used the propane grill and the crock pot. The best part was the wood fireplace. There were poker chips, perfect for a few home games. There’s a free shuttle that takes you to and from the mountain. That was convenient for avoiding parking fees. 10/10 will book again next time.
We’ve stayed in a lot of places all over the world and my wife said today on a walk… “this is probably my favorite vacation home we’ve been to so far”….for us both, it’s the timeless, simple and unpretentious nature of your home. If you choose to stay here, you will be rewarded by beauty and pure comfort. So thankful that you are sharing your home. Cheers!!
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this Norweigan-inspired home that features a wonderful sauna to help warm you up after a long day enjoying the slopes. It's a great location (free transportation to the ski area) and plenty of room for the entire family.
We had a great stay with our family. Great location, awesome fireplace and an old school vibe. Our dogs loved watching the snow fall out the windows. Thanks for hosting us.
Perfect house for a ski trip with family or friends.
The house was wonderful and clean. It has a beautiful old charming design that allowed our friends and family hand out and relax together after a long ski day
Lanny drive is in a great location to the village, Truckee River, & Lake Tahoe! We loved that the house was the second to be built in the valley, but with modern updates!

Thanks Jessica. Glad you and family enjoyed your stay! Come again! Eric
Lovely home built in the 1950s. So much history to enjoy. Eric the host is so easy to talk to and accommodating. Pet friendly but if you have dogs with tiny legs the deck can be a hazard for them as the boards are about an inch apart. There is a deck though outside the tv room that works well for the tiny pups. The view is lovely and it is close to the village for great food and drinks.

Great Cabin in Great Location
Our family had an outstanding time in this classic cabin. It is strategically located close to the Village, making trips back and forth to the Village quick and easy. The cabin is well maintained, comfortable, and spacious. We will almost certainly be back!
We had an incredible ski week at Eric’s home! The location truly can’t be beat (just a 2 minute drive to Palisades Village), but what we really enjoyed was staying in such a unique home full of character and family history. The well appointed kitchen, the sauna, the cozy living room and gorgeous views of the mountain made for a super relaxing stay. Hands down our favorite of many Tahoe rentals we’ve stayed in…we hope to be back next year!
Enjoyable stay in a great spot close to the slopes
The cabin was a perfect spot for our group of six (two kids, two parents, two grandparents). Eric was very helpful and communicative. The living area was comfortable and the kitchen was well-appointed, which worked out well for us to cook our meals during our stay. Thanks!
This house is in a great location near Palisades. It is comfortably appointed with everything you need. The host is awesome. He has clear instructions, is accommodating and communicates very well. Beds were very comfortable. It has a wonderful classic Tahoe feel. Amazing view of KT22. Really a great stay and we would stay again.

Feels like you are ski touring in Europe. Amazing house with amazing history. Free easy shuttle to pallisades, so you don’t have to deal with the parking. Erik was the best host I have ever experienced. So kind, thoughtful, and gregarious. Hope to stay again. Thanks Erik!
Very scenic, old school rustic 1960 Olympics house. Relaxing sauna, lots of light from the floor to ceiling windows the entire front of the house. Cozy wood burning fireplace (with tons of available wood) adds to the ambiance, and for any skiers with the inclination, there is a ski tuning vise by the downstairs sauna! One mile from the Olympic Village, with a handy bike path and hiking trail nearby. Beautiful Squaw Valley scenery is the perfect compliment to the fabulous vacation that awaits you there.

Thanks Ken. Glad your group enjoyed your stay! Eric
Our family had a lovely time at the ski chalet for a week in February. The views out of the living room are so great, especially with a roaring fire and snow falling outside. The kitchen is well stocked, we cooked every night but one where we went out for dinner. Children loved the ring toss game and all the fun board games and bunkbeds that every ski house should have.
Getting to/from the resort is easy via the Mountaineer service which is free and door-to-door.
For bookings with multiple families, there are plenty of beds but the size/layout of the house make it best enjoyed with families that are comfortable with each other.

Thank you Kristian. Glad you and family enjoyed your stay. Come again!
The house is very well located, a few minutes drive from Palisades. It is spacious and well stocked. We got very unlucky as the house ran out of gas on the morning after our arrival. No heating, no hot water. We stayed warm with the open fire. The owner tried to get the situation resolved but was not able to. We had to leave one day earlier than expected. Very unlucky.

Very unlucky indeed, Kristine. Very sorry you and the family had to go through what many families went through in our community the past couple of weeks during the extreme weather, and very difficult challenges for many of the utility companies, including AmeriGas. We did our best to try and resolve the issue during your stay, but ultimately it was beyond our control. I am glad, however, that we were able to supply heat during your stay with new space heaters and lots of firewood! I am also glad we were able to work out another vacation stay for you as a make good given your situation. Thanks, Eric

Beautiful, Comfortable, well-equipped, super close Squaw Village
What an awesome weekend we had! This home is so beautiful and peaceful. The weather was magnificent and the views of the mountains were breathtaking. We easily skied Squaw and Alpine for 3 days with our three kids and had another family of three join us for a portion of our stay. We were all comfortable and happy. The kitchen and pantry are well stocked and made eating in with my large family easy and comfortable. The kids enjoyed the TV room and the adults hung out by the fire. The entry way mud room was the perfect spot for all our ski equipment and it all fit nicely. The showers were hot and water pressure was amazing (always a bonus). We checked out the beautiful sauna in the basement but didn’t get to use it. This place really is a gem and I look forward to staying again. Also such a special place that has belonged to one family forever. Totally awesome !!
This historic gem in the heart of Olympic Valley is a true piece of mountain history, and we loved every minute of our stay! The home is impeccably clean from top to bottom—All appliances are up-to-date and high quality, everything you’d expect in a premium setup. It felt luxurious and reliable without sacrificing that classic ski-town charm. The host was fantastic—easy to work with, quick to respond, and full of helpful local recommendations. Check-in was seamless, which made arriving after a day of travel so much easier. We had an incredible time skiing, unwinding by the fire, and enjoying the mountain vibes. The whole group agreed this place is special. Everyone is already planning to come back next season.

Thanks so much Glenn. Was a pleasure to share our mountain home with you & family. See you next year! Best, Eric
We absolutely loved our stay at this property. While it has everything you need it is no frills. Architecturally this place is stunning. The location is amazing. Overall a very special property.
The home is simply perfect. The family room with fireplace was so cozy for nightly game play, reading by the fire, or taking zooms for work. Parking was easy, lots of firewood, and the kitchen, dining, and other features made us feel right at home. Will definitely stay again!

About the host
Hosted by Eric Magnuson
We are the original owners of this property that was built in 1957 for the Winter Olympic Games. 3 generations of Magnuson's consider this property our Tahoe home. This was the 2nd home built in Olympic Valley. Original cabin was updated with addition of kitchen, Media room, and laundry room. We imported much of the furniture from Norway, as well as fabrics used on built in sofa's and chairs.
Why they chose this property
This cabin is one of the original 10 homes built in the Valley by our family for the 1960 Winter Olympic Games. The lot was chosen for its central location and hillside position offering views of the entire valley and ski hill.
