Just minutes to Squaw Valley Ski Area/Lifts with spectacular mountain views.

This wonderful, Norwegian-style, ski 'Hytte,' or cabin, is the perfect place for a family getaway. This is one of Squaw Valley's(Olympic Valley) original homes built for the Olympic Games in 1960. The house has been beautifully updated, with spectacular views of Squaw Valley from the living areas and a huge, wraparound deck. The living area has beautiful, high ceilings and lots of seating all centered around a cozy, rock fireplace. There is also a separate, sound-proof, TV room for those who want some quiet time.

The kitchen is well equipped for those groups that would rather dine in. With views of the mountains, the dining room will surely be a great place for some fun and memorable family meals. Great for entertaining!

For those of you who want to hit the slopes, you are only a few minutes drive from the ski lifts.

In summer you can enjoy the wonderful hikes close to the cabin, take a leisurely ride up the majestic Truckee River bike bath to Lake Tahoe, or wander down to the new Village at Squaw for your morning coffee or to explore all the wonderful new shops. There are also many fine restaurants close in and around the Village.

Mountain bikers will enjoy the many trails around Squaw Valley and Lake Tahoe, and golfers have the ultimate challenge with Squaw's Robert Trent Jones-designed 'links' golf course right outside your door!

Squaw Valley is located just 45 minutes from Reno International Airport, and a short, six-mile drive or bike ride to the west shore of Lake Tahoe. Three and one-half hour drive from San Francisco.

This cabin is one of the original 10 homes built in the Valley by our family for the 1960 Winter Olympic Games. The lot was chosen for its central location and hillside position offering views of the entire valley and ski hill.

Family atmosphere

  • 4 of 5

Plenty of room, gorgeous view of the mountains, somewhat dated but very functional. If you're hoping for "luxury", don't be disappointed that the small sauna is in the basement and does not have an adjacent shower, but overall the house seems great for family with kids. The owner is very nice, involved in the rental process, and truly cares that you have a nice stay.

Gorgeous and comfortable cabin

  • 5 of 5

Many thanks to the Magnuson family! We had a lovely stay. The cabin is nothing short of idyllic - just the perfect Tahoe accommodations. Stylish and well-appointed with everything one could need, with perfect touches like the retro Scandinavian/Japanese window coverings. We had such a wonderful time and hope to be back again soon!

Beautiful spacious cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We had 8 adults in this fantastic cabin across the street from Squaw. The cabin was quite roomy (except for the bedroom with the bunk beds - that's ideal for kids) & the view is amazing! The living room, kitchen & dining room are open & there was plenty of space for us to relax. Definitely will go back!

Wonderful, classic cabin

  • 5 of 5

I organized a ski weekend to Squaw with a group of friends and we stayed at this classic cabin. We had a wonderful experience. The cabin was built shortly before the Squaw Olympics and has been owned by the same family ever since. You can feel the history of Squaw valley in the cabin and we could tell it has been home to many great memories--the photos on the wall tell the story! The cabin is not modern, but it has everything you need. The living room is wonderful. There is a great fireplace and the two story windows provide a perfect view of KT-22. The bunk room is small, but it is a perfect place for kids. The other two bedrooms and loft area offer plenty of space. The bonus TV room, sauna and outdoor deck are great. Also, the kitchen is big and open so multiple people can cook and prepare food at the same time.

Ski House with Amazing Views

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful views from this well-located ski house. We've rented a bunch of houses/condos at Squaw and this one had the best view. We rented this house for a family ski vacation and the house was compact but felt quite roomy for the 5 adults and 5 kids. The den next to the kitchen kept the kids occupied while the adults could relax in the living room. It's perfectly equiped for a ski vacation with a large mud room in the front to store boots, jacket, etc. It's a quick few minutes to Squaw and on a quiet street off the main road. One day we hiked to Shirley Canyon. It's a quick 20 min walk to the trailhead and then a nice hike up to the gorgeous canyon. A really wonderful hike. This house is not super-luxurious for those that like new houses but if you love old modern houses you'll love this one. We hope to return again.
