This time, we brought another family with us; it was their first time at Sleepy Hollow and they can't wait to come back. Always a good time, with so much to do (heated pool, beach, children's activities, etc.)

The place was a bit outdated but well maintained and clean. We loved the location and the walkability to the beach. The house was well stocked and perfect for 2 families (4 adults, 4 kids). we had trouble accessing the property because we were not receiving any text (which provides access code, rental agreement form, etc) but was able to call the property manager and he answered the phone right away (even at 10 pm). He asked us to stop by the office the next day to sign the form in person but when we got to the office, was told it's not necessary. Overall we had an excellent time and would definitely consider staying again if we are visiting South Haven.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I give Sleepy Hollow resort a 5 star rating. It is very family friendly. Huge pool with kiddy area, beautiful beach, nice playground, crafts and games in the mornings and outdoor activities in the afternoon. The one star rating is for unit 37. We were very disappointed in the condition of this unit. Each unit is individually owned and this one has been ignored for a very long time! It was not very clean, dirt and cobwebs, thick layer of dust on light fixtures and ceiling fans, leaky bathroom faucet, mold in showers ( which maintenance cleaned for us), pealing paint on bathroom ceiling, stained walls, dirty and stained furniture. The owner of this unit does not seem to care about comfort of their guests. This unit should not be rented without, at the very least, a major cleaning, and probably painting and some repairs. I would not recommend renting unit 37 but would recommend the resort. Rent a different unit!

Reviewer Comments: We had a great stay at Sleepy Hollow enjoying the grounds and the beach. The cottage was wonderful with the spaces, appliances and kitchenware necessary to be a home away from home. The screened porch was a great place to share meals, play games and stage our beach gear. The cottage is well maintained with plenty of outlets, great lighting and plumbing fixtures that worked well. Highly recommended for a week getaway. The grassy lawn with grill and picnic table was used daily and we had a fire in the pit on the last night. Good stuff!!

Having to request toilet paper and towels for a unit that sleeps 8 and mold/mildew in the master bath are negatives (this is hodpitality 101 and should not be encountered at this price point).Many updates are needed in this unit. Staff is friendly and helpful when issues are brought to their attention.

The unit we stayed in was perfect size for our family of 6. While the unit had everything we needed, it was dated and could use some upgrades. Similarly, the resort had everything we needed but most of the sports equipment had been around for awhile and could use updating (including bikes). The resort was very clean and well maintained. Great spot for families

Nice pool - no beach :(

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Upon entering the property we were very impressed - the grounds were well maintained and it had a "community" feel to it. Pool is very nice - clean and guard always on duty. We were VERY disappointed in the beach. Due to Lake Michigan being so high there is only about 8 feet of beach (mainly wet sand). The primary reason we chose this resort was to have our own private beach to attend daily. We have a 3-year old and 9-month old and had to put them in their car seats every day to travel to the public beach/pay for parking. Very disappointed in that. We stayed in unit 37A..the shower door would often get stuck (Very old) and needed some maintenance. Unit smelled "musty" upon first entering. The second half of the week there was a strong garbage odor outside of our unit (not sure what that wasy?). Things we enjoyed about sleepy hollow: pool and the playground close by. But again, very disappointed in the beach.

Great Family Resort

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family of seven rented a three bed/ 2 bath unit. It was our second year at Sleepy Hollow and everything was just as wonderful as the first time we were there. The pool is beautiful and the grounds very well kept with lovely landscaping. Our unit was very clean and I like the daily towel service. I do wish the furniture in our unit(37A) was more comfortable, there was a loveseat that really needs to go! Everyone there is friendly and helpful and the overall atmosphere is very peaceful. We hope to go again next summer.
