360 degrees of heaven, the most magnificent views on Topsail... The house is absolutely fabulous and laid out for your enjoyment... Check out our pictures! With a surround view of the ocean and intracoastal waterway....the best sunsets on the island can be found on the top deck! Did I forget to mention we have our own private beach access with a deck, just across from the pool? We always heat this in the spring in fall so everyone can enjoy a quick dip! And, we have access to a private day dock where your friends can boat over and tie up with no hassel.

About Topsail:

Topsail is 30 minutes North of Wilmington and about two hours East of Raleigh. The Island has beautiful sandy beaches with very little traffic (with the exception of check-out time!). A Harris Teeter and a Movie Theatre that we hope will be open by summer 2013. We currently have an IGA on the Island that carries all your basic needs and a Food Lion just before you cross the bridge.

There are several great restaurants to enjoy while vacationing or you could just cook at home and relax... while enjoying the most beautiful sunset ever. Kayaking and bike rentals, paddle boarding and surfing... all are available. A very family oriented island... you will find that once you discover Topsail, you will come back year after year!

About the house:

This professionally decorated home two dining rooms overlooking the Sound with a bar encircling the kitchen that seats 13. Two flat-screen plasma TV's with room for all to have a comfy seat. Breathtaking views off the front and back decks... This is the tallest house in the area and so you can literally see for miles.

The kitchen is better than home... a dream gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops, two sinks, two dishwashers, two ice-makers - well - you get the picture! All the amenities you will need to cook a wonderful meal or cater in..

The third floor has two large master suites, ocean-side, with a Whirlpool bath tub, separate shower and walk in closet. Both open onto the back deck over-looking the pool and the ocean. On the far side of this floor are two queen bedrooms, both with private bathrooms and decks with a Sound-view.

Across the hall, there are is a bunk bed with a full on bottom and single on top, a single across from the bunk bed. This is the ninth sleeping area and is enclosed with black out curtains. There is a private bath in this area too. On the sound side are two bedrooms, one has a full bed with a single trundle and one has two queens and a single. These bedrooms have private bathrooms along with sound-side views on their decks.

The first floor or entry area is where you will find the laundry room. The elevator is just inside the door waiting to take you upstairs to the 'room with a view.' There is a large private driveway with tons parking available. (up to nine cars)

Wouldn't Rent This Property Again

  • 1 of 5

A family member had planned her wedding for Columbus Day weekend 2016 on Topsail Island and many family members rented houses on the island for the weekend. I thought I was booking 360 Degrees of Heaven directly with the owner on VRBO but I found out later I'd been shifted to dealing with Starfish Rentals & Realty. Not sure who is more to blame for what followed but I would avoid dealing with Starfish and this property, in particular, in the future to be safe.

Unfortunately, Hurricane Matthew hit the area that very weekend. Luckily, it was a well-forecasted storm and we knew more than a week in advance that there was no way the wedding could actually take place that weekend. The southern coast of North Carolina was the bullseye for a record-breaking hurricane precisely on the day we were scheduled to arrive.

I didn't really anticipate a problem since the record-breaking storm hitting Florida and then South and North Carolina was all anyone was talking about on the national news for at least a week. Unfortunately, I was wrong. When we tried to cancel our reservation, Starfish told me it was "business as usual" on Topsail and refused to let us cancel our reservation or even move the booking to another date when the area wasn't under the threat of a major storm.

They insisted on keeping our full rental fee as well as the added charge for rented linens (bed sheets) for a home that was never used. Their reasoning was that somehow the rental company and homeowner were incurring a loss on account of our cancellation. Makes total sense in a situation where there is rain in the forecast so your guests opt to cancel their vacation. But that is far from what happened here.

To suggest that there was an opportunity cost incurred because the reservation had been held for us -- instead of making the property available to others who may want to rent the home -- was a complete joke. The southern coast of North Carolina was the bulls eye for a record breaking hurricane. Flights into and out of Wilmington were cancelled. Portions of interstate 95 were closed. Everyone already on the island was being told, emphatically, to leave town. And we've all seen the videos of the aftermath on Topsail - major flooding. Not only would it have been unrealistic and unsafe for anyone to be heading to the island on Friday October 7th but -- if anyone made it there -- they likely would have left with significant damage to proper

Owner's Response: I do understand Jennifer's frustration with Hurricane Matthew. Hurricane Matthew was a last minute surprise to us all; disrupting both residents and visitors plans and schedules alike. I am compelled however to respond to this review in order to clarify the facts as well as stating for public record Starfish Rentals and Realty adhered to the Vacation Rental Act/and with the supporting laws and policies of the NC Real Estate Commission. We adhered to the policies of the Vacation Rental Act - The home had been reserved since April 15, 2016 in her name. It is necessary to state that although we were not legally required to return any monies, we did voluntarily (despite the claims made in this review) refund the security deposit, the cleaning fee, the administration costs; everything except the rent and associated taxes. The local authorities ( recorded messages from the Mayors of Surf City, Topsail Beach, and North Topsail Beach ) issued a voluntary evacuation for all three towns on Topsail Island preceding the storms approach. When the voluntary evacuation notice was given, it was issued with "no restrictions". With this, the local authorities did not recognize Hurricane Matthew as a severe enough threat to Topsail Island to issue a mandatory evacuation. There was no mandatory evacuation order issued and she voluntarily chose not to come. Jennifer voluntarily elected to decline travelers insurance for her vacation. She initialed our rental contract stating her intent. Under North Carolina Real Estate Commission law, if a guest is not offered travelers insurance, and a mandatory evacuation occurs, the guest is entitled to a full refund of their monies. If a guest is offered travelers insurance, voluntarily declines it, and a mandatory evacuation occurs, no rental agency is legally bound to refund any monies. I deeply regret that she wrote a negative review with unsubstantiated claims against us and presented it without a clear understanding of the cancellation polices. We are a small, family owned business, and want nothing more than to provide a memorable family vacation for our many guests and repeat guests. Despite the weather, we had other guests arrive and check-in and we had guests that elected to stay during the storm in their rentals. I myself drove around the entire island during the storm inspecting our properties without hardship or any damage to my vehicle. The only locations that experienced flooding was the canal areas.

Second Visit as great as the first!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to 360 Degree of Heaven! (see my 2014 review) Another great family vacation! I think the 4th floor kitchen / family area is our favorite! The views are amazing and the huge bar with 13 stools is a a favorite gathering area.

There is still an issue with refrigerator space, the main one is not nearly large enough for food and drinks and the small one on the 2nd floor is not big enough for much more than some drinks.Even with the ice maker in the frig, the stand alone ice machine will not keep up! The 2 dishwashers, two sets of sinks, two sets of trash containers, double ovens and the well equipped and stocked cupboards lack nothing to cook with! Excellent!

Again, the house was very clean! The trash was still a little problem, I guess I would still suggest cleaning the cans more often. The linens are still debatable, low quality and only one set of towels per person which causes us to do laundry more often which is hard to keep up with only one washer and dryer. The convenience of not having to take different sizes of linens seems to be the deciding factor.

The outdoor furniture on each private balcony is dated and in need of some repair, the pool area furniture is ok. All in all, this is a great vacation home....Lisa and her staff were great to work with...! I would rent this home again

Owner's Response: Thanks so much Pat! We are always happy to have you guys! As you could tell, we are in the process of updating the deck furniture! The bar stools will be replaced this winter, more outdoor furniture too, but we are unsure of how to add another refrigerator to the upstairs area... Great idea but just not sure where it would go! Look forward to seeing you again!

Awesome Family Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This home is huge and accommodated 23 of us comfortably! Everyone had their own bedroom and bath which allowed privacy if you wanted to get away from all the commotion in the huge family room/kitchen/dining room that was the entire 4th floor. The kitchen was very well equipped. We cooked in every night and there was not one thing that we couldn't find the size of pan/bowls, etc. we needed! There was also many spices left behind and we actually would not have had to bring ours. It was a little difficult for the stand alone ice machine to keep up even with the ice maker in the refrigerator being used too. There is only one large refrigerator in the kitchen and a very small one on the 2nd floor and that was a problem at times but the 2 dishwashers, two sinks and all the rest were great!

The house was very clean! The trash was a little problem. Pickup is on Monday and we arrived on Saturday. All trash cans were full and at the end of the driveway. We had to just put our trash bags in the carport area till pick up on Monday. Then we brought all 5 of the huge receptacles up to the house and they smelled to bad we had to sit them out to the side of the house. When we needed to put a bag in them...it about gagged you to open the lid...we made the kids take the trash down! LOL I guess I would suggest cleaning the cans more often.

One issue that was a little bit of a problem was trying decide how to divide the cost. There is not floor plan on the website and even tho there is a detailed description, the cost of each bedroom varies greatly because of location, size and amenities. (if anyone wants to contact me for an explanation of how we did it...Lisa can give you my information). We actually adjusted some of the prices when we got there and saw the difference in the rooms. The other thing I will mention is linens. We purchased the package thru Lisa but it was NOT worth the cost. The bed linens were poor quality and there was one set of towels per person which was not enough without daily laundry. I would suggest taking your own since the cost is considerable!

The beach is across the street which was a concern because of the kids but we worked it all out. The beach is private and it was so nice to not have to worry about seeing your kids in a crowd like at Myrtle Beach. The beach was beautiful, the view from all the balconies were all fabulous.

Lisa was great to work with...we had a few safety issues that were handled immediately! I would rent this home again

Most perfect house on the island

  • 5 of 5

Second time we rented this place.. Absolutely love the owners, from starfish rentals.. But this house is awesome.. It is full of room, and the full of room, rooms, are beautifully decorated, and the accommodations are tastefully perfect. The sunrise is gorgeous over the ocean, and the sunset is stunning off of the every room decks.

It was chilly when we went in sept, with a second group of people, but the heated pool, appeased all that were there. It is great because parents can enjoy themselves while kids enjoy the pool, and we can watch them the whole time, while there..while still having fun ourselves.

LOVE it every time we have been there..and trying to book a bunch of us again, for next year.

Great family vacation house!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a wonderful beach week at this house in Surf City, N.C. The house was clean and well maintained and had absolutely stunning views from the living area on the top floor.....could watch the ocean surf on the front deck and the serene sound side from the back deck. The kitchen was very well stocked and was great with eating spaces at counter for lots. This house had plenty of room for our group of 21 family members of all ages. Lisa, the owner, was very helpful and responsive with any questions, so the rental process went very smoothly. I would indeed recommend this house to any who want a nice, quiet, family vacation at the beach.

Family vacation

  • 5 of 5

This house was more than amazing! We were blown away when we walked onto the 4th floor and saw the stunning views. The house was more than suitable for our 2 yr old nephew and our family member who is recovering from knee surgery. Everyone was so impressed with how clean and well maintained the house was. We spent an entire week with 25 of our family members and we would all love to stay again. The owners of the home are so friendly and made it easy to reserve the house via email, they went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and relaxing.
