Spend your vacation this year in our four bedroom, four and a half bath, Luxury Home. The house also includes two family rooms, a loft that can be used as a 5th bedroom, patio with a large hot tub overlooking the lake, screened porch, and large deck where you can enjoy a view of the lake, pool, golf course, and mountains.

Everything you need to enjoy your time at Big Canoe is available to you in our home located on Lake Disharoon. You can wake up to the sound of the Canadian Geese flying overhead and go to sleep listening to the songs of the frogs. Our home has central heat and air as well as ceiling fans in all rooms, but sometimes you don't even need them!

Set in the foothills of the scenic North Georgia Mountains with elevations exceeding 3000 feet lays the enchanted land known as Big Canoe. Be prepared to brake for deer or wild turkey at any given turn in the road.

You can walk out the back door of our house and down the hill to the lake (beach), pool, waterside, and fitness center with an indoor pool. No need to get in the car if you don't want to.

We offer low season rates of $195 per night or $1100 per week from Nov. 5 to March 14 except for holidays.

About Tom O'Connor

Tom, Judi and Stephanie - We were the first home owners in the Laurel Ridge section of Big Canoe 13 years ago. We live in metro Atlanta in the town of Smyrna Georgia, 65 miles from Big Canoe. Judi is a retired elementary school teacher and I was a Sr. Project manager working projects in 27 countries and retired March 2016. Stephanie is our lovely special needs daughter and along with working is very active in a number of sports in Special Olympics.

Tom O'Connor purchased this house in 2003

Why Tom O'Connor chose Northwest High Country

This house will be like taking your own home on vacation with you. This house is not a small mountain cabin, It has room for the entire family to have their own space or bond together in the living room. From the lower level of the house it is only a 50 yard walk down the hill to the swim club and the start of the hiking trails through the woods. After a swim, hike or run in the woods you can relax in our 8 person hot tub.

What makes this house unique

You can sit in the living room and have a view of the mountains, beach and the golf course. In the morning. In the evening you can see wild life outside the windows. Unlike many homes in the area our parking pad will accommodate 4 cars.

Map

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

Our youngest son and his fiancé (now wife) chose Big Canoe for their 'destination' wedding. Everything was beautiful including 'Almost Heaven', the house we stayed in for the few days we were there. It felt just like home to my husband, myself and our family. Many thanks to the owners who were extremely helpful with my many questions.

Very Accommodating

  • 5 of 5

We decided at the last minute to take a trip, and we were a little nervous to book so late. We had been to Big Canoe several times before; however, we had never booked through VRBO. Tom (Owner) responded very quickly and was extremely detailed with the entire transaction. His communication and guidance through the process helped to eliminate our stress.

Very nice property, and very close to fitness center/beach/hiking trails (walking distance). Property has a nice hot tub which is an added bonus over any property we have stayed at Big Canoe.

Property sleeps 10, but a nice feature is that 8 of the 10 are in actual beds in bedrooms. The other two are a more than adequate trundle bed in the loft space play room. We have stayed in properties before where several of the sleeping areas are on fold-out couches. The kids do not mind sleeping out in the living room; however, it can be a little awkward for adults sometimes. This property has very nice bedroom spaces.

All in all, this was a wonderful trip to Big Canoe.

Thank you again Tom, and we hope to return to your property in the future!

Ideal Condo Two Years In A Row

  • 5 of 5

I live in Big Canoe and serve on a program committee that organizes an annual concert for our residents. For the past two years I've been in charge of finding appropriate accommodations for the entertainers for the September concerts. I've chosen this lovely condo both years because it is a beautifully decorated and maintained 4BR 4.5BA home ideally located near the center and all of the amenities in Big Canoe. The separate bedrooms/baths on three levels offer privacy for all guests, as well as lovely gathering space for all in the open great room, screen room and deck overlooking a pretty golf course. All the guests have been so impressed with "Almost Heaven" that they are hoping to return with their family and friends for a future vacation.

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

Almost Heaven was wonderful. The house is warm and inviting with everything you need. The adults and kids were comfortable and we all enjoyed the games in the loft. I would stay here again.
