About the property

My Father built the Sopinski Cabin over 30 years ago where my family spent summers, winters & weekends during my growing up years. This wonderful place provided for my brother and me a childhood filled with fun, activity, sports & memories that my family would like to now share with you.

Our cabin is located on a level lot at a 4000 ft elevation in Arnold, CA. We are within minutes from Angel's Camp, Sonora, Murphy's & Bear Valley Ski Resort. With a wrap-around deck surrounded by pines, our cabin provides an ideal spot to enjoy all the Sierra's have to offer without the hassle of too much snow, traffic or isolation. We are walking distance to many activities and only a minute's drive to many more. Our cabin is ideal for families, pets & adults who wish to go, go, go or just relax on the deck. Whatever your vacation's needs, you can find them here at the Sopinski Cabin.

Thank you for your interest in our home and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

About Amy Waterman

Hello, my name is Amy Waterman. My father, Ted Sopinski, built our cabin when my brother, Steve, and I were young. We have been spending time in Arnold since we were born and have made it a very important part of our lives. My mom & dad are retired and living in Sonoma County. My brother, Steve lives in Rocklin with his two sons & dog. My husband, Jeff, and I live in Santa Rosa with our daughter, two dogs, three cats, rat & fish. We visit our cabin whenever possible and hope you find it to be a magical place for your family too!

Amy Waterman purchased this house in 1980

Why Amy Waterman chose Arnold

Before I was born, a salesman asked my father to come to Arnold in order to look at properties. He and his best friend from Lockheed drove up to Arnold with their wives and the salesman. After spending the weekend in Arnold, they knew this was a place they wanted to spend time. My father and his friend purchased a lot together & each bought thier own. They built a large cabin together for our two families where we spent every minute in Arnold we possibly could. After many years, our friends bought a business and moved up. We sold our joint cabin and my father then built the one we have today nearly 30 years ago. We still love Arnold & the surrounding area as much as the day we found it.

What makes this house unique

The most wonderful aspect to Arnold is its peacefulness. It truly feels like a vacation. When at our cabin, we feel as though we are worlds away from the busy, every day life of home. We love the diversity of the area and all it has to offer. The activities are perfect for our family...some of our favorites are hanging out at the pool in the summer time, visiting Columbia State Historic Park on a regular basis & sledding in the winter. Our most favorite activity, however, is relaxing on the deck with a glass of wine working on a puzzle or cross word with the most perfect weather & serenity.

Nice cabin in woods

  • 3 of 5

The house was well stocked, the owners sent good instructions/information, and it was very comfortable for my family. The only downside -- it needed a good clean. The wood floors were sticky, carpets stained, goo on the nightstands, hair in the shower drain. With a good scrub we'd stay here again.

Comfortable light-filled cabin

  • 4 of 5

This was a nice place for a girls weekend. The living room was a good gathering place with comfortable seating and lots of light. The two bedrooms were comfortable, but the futon bed was not. The kitchen had the necessities. The neighborhood was nice, with lots of folks out grilling and walking dogs.

We liked it. It was our Thanksgiving get away. It was peaceful because very few people were there.

Cabin was in good shape overall. We loved the game boards, the movies, the Roku access to everything, the puzzle books, the soccer table, etc. We also loved the trees, the deer, birds, squirrels, coyote and even a fox! We found almost everything we needed, except a few things. I think that some things need an upgrade and others a better cleaning. If you rent for 6 people you must have 6 chairs. Not patio, plastic, dirty ones, that guests have to clean and adapt to play a board game not even talking about dinner! Utensils, specially forks are old and in bad shape. Glasses and cups are plastic, with a horrible appearance or like containers from other things then used as glasses. There aren't any oven trays or anything for oven cooking. There weren't enough kitchen paper towels or good kitchen towels. The blankets or duvets didn't look clean or had a used-like smell. Perhaps, adding some febreeze or Downy while rinsing? I believe it's a pity such a beautiful cabin and the money the guests pay for it, ended with a bad review for such silly or affordable things, that could be a burden if you don't go for cleaning, washing, or going shopping! Finally, check the season you are going and what you are looking for. Cabins are one close to the other and it is a town of cabins. You'll see your neighbors all the time from the inside of your cabin and viceversa. Consider this if you love to socialize or if you are looking for peace and silence.

Very cozy

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely holiday time at the cabin. Very cozy and beautiful views of the trees from all the windows. All is as described. I would recommend it for a cozy, cute place to stay, great for kids, very comfy, the beds are great. Close to fun adventures in Columbia and we went sledding at Bear Valley. Walks in the neighborhood were awesome. Love that you provide linens and pets are welcome. My 9 year old son only recommends a basketball hoop in the driveway:)
