Experience coastal bliss at our 3-bedroom cottage near the Beach

Forget the elevators and extended hallways. This small community of single/duplex cottages is nestled at the edge of the Bon Secour National Wildlife Preserve and across the street from the beach (beach is approximately 0.4 mi.).

Approximately 20 minutes from Gulf Shores, The Rookery captures the perfect blend of nature. The Rookery hosts plenty of community activity, including a large, zero-entry pool, covered gazebo, hot tub, tennis court, and community grilling area with picnic tables. The unit is professionally cleaned and has 2 bedrooms with queen-size beds and 3rd bedroom with twin beds, 4 satellite TV’s (in living room and all bedrooms (Smart TVs in living rm and master bedroom) VCR & DVD and all major appliances incl. washer, dryer, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator w/ice maker, small appliances (coffee maker, blender, toaster, crock pot, iron & board, blow dryer).

Parking passes (guest registration certificates) are required to be displayed on all vehicles and trailers (not required on golf carts). Two parking passes are provided with each reservation. Additional passes are available at $50 each Overflow parking available for additional vehicles.

ACTIVITIES: Golf Courses, Wave Runner Rentals, Water Parks, Gulf Coast Zoo, Putt Putt Golf, Dinner Cruises, Shopping at Outlet Malls and The Wharf, Various Festivals (seasonal) & Night Life. Tour historic Fort Morgan just a few miles away or take the ferry over to Dauphin Island for a visit to the Dauphin Island Estuary. Several restaurants, a marina and boat dock are nearby. Nearby along Fort Morgan Road is the scenic Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge.. a haven for nature lovers.

COTTAGE: The full-size kitchen has a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and garbage disposal. Dishes and linens are provided, (also toaster, blender, crock pot, deep fryer, large lobster pot, & blow dryer) and full size washer and dryer.

All on one level, there is easy access to the cottage with convenient parking. The outdoor porch area is screened with table, 4 chairs, 2 stools, 2 ceiling fans and roll-up shades. Block patio near entrance with adjacent water spigot - a great place to wash off all the sand. Plenty of sandy area around the patio for children to play, as well.

THE ROOKERY COMMUNITY: The Rookery was designed to be a natural and quiet resort and is located adjacent to the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. This is a wonderful place for kids to play and swim. The large pool has a zero-entry access where little ones can wade and walk right into the shallow end with no steps to climb. This pool has a hot tub, as well as a covered gazebo area and a large poolside bathroom. There is a community grilling area with picnic tables and a tennis court. There are three public beach accesses nearby.

Such a cute little condo. The only down side is the limited parking. Besides that, we really enjoyed the stay. It had everything in there that we needed! Would def stay again!

Could have been better

We really enjoy the area and the Rookery. We have stayed there for many years. The process to check in and out is as easy as possible. Our only complaint about the Rookery this year was the hot tub had been temporarily taken out due to damage. The house itself could have been better. The master bathtub feels like it has no subfloor so lots of popping and creaking. It felt a bit like we were going to fall through. The handles leaked and the master tub didn’t drain well. The bathroom accessories were falling off the walls. And it was not clean at all. We found some nicotine patches, a half empty water bottle, hair ties, and general trash under two of the beds. There is also not really anywhere to store a week’s worth of groceries so we just had to put things on the floor along walls (cases of soda, etc.). There are a TON of dishes and pots and pans so some of that could have been used to food. The outside shower wasn’t working so you couldn’t spray sand off. We’ll be back to the Rookery but not this particular home.

It was our second time staying here. This is one of the best places to stay if you want to be away from all the business. Carol is amazing to work with. We will be back again next year.

Ft Morgan Beach vacation

This was a great house. The furniture was very comfortable as well the beds were great. The kitchen had a large selection of cooking items. Our unit was very close to the pool which was great, large with plenty of seating around. It was just a short drive to the beach which was very nice, not crowded. i would recommend this to anyone looking to stay in Ft. Morgan Beach.

A darling cottage

We arrived on Friday, checked in the minute. We walked in the Door we were all in awe of how beautiful this little cottage was. It's perfect if you like to stay in the quiet area. Each bedroom was the perfect size.The bathrooms were great. You're still not far from any action that goes on around you. If you've never stayed here, you need to stay at least once. The cottage is gorgeous and the manager is awesome to deal with

Great stay

This is a great getaway. The location is excellent if you enjoy being out of the busyness of the town. The beach access is easy to get to. The boardwalk out to the beach is great. It goes out on the beach a good way so you don’t have that far of a walk across the sand to the ocean. The pool is fantastic, however the hot tub was roped off the whole time (but it was too hot anyway). The pool is a zero entry so my 2 grandchildren loved that. They could choose their own depth to play in. The community is great. It had several small ponds that has all kinds of creatures and critters (including alligators). I do recommend you bring bug repellent because mosquitoes can be bad depending on when you go. The cottage was a 3 bed 2 bath. 2 of the bed’s had 1 queen bed and the 3rd bed had 2 twin beds. One of the queen bed’s had a private bath. The other queen bed had a sliding door (kind of like a Jack and Jane bathroom) going to the other bathroom. It had a washer and dryer. There were also extras such as beach gear and charcoal for the grill. Not sure if that was left by the property owner or the last renter but was told it was ok to use it by the owner. There is not a lot of pantry storage but I had a plastic tote that I used to transport stuff in our truck. Once I unloaded that I was able to put it on top of the dryer and use it for pantry storage. The cottage is decorated very nice and was extremely clean. Only complaint would be the 2nd bath shower sprayer & curtain.

Short Distance Walking Made for Great Trip!

The cottage was not only perfect for our girl's getaway but ideal for someone like me with walking difficulties. I chose this cottage due to it being one story and parking available steps from the front door. There were a few steps to climb to enter the cottage, but those were not an issue for me. In addition, we were very close to the pool, so my friends could walk if they wanted, but we also had the option to drive and park close to the pool gate. It was just three of us, so we each had our own bedroom. Having two bathrooms was nice, and we liked the layout of the cottage. The owner sent emails in advance with detailed information about the cottage and Fort Morgan area, which was much appreciated. I would definitely go back.

Relaxing, convenient, WONDERFUL

Check-in was super simple. Upon arrival, the property was just as described and was very clean and spacious. The property had everything we needed to prepare meals if we decided not to go out. There were PLENTY of things to do within a very short drive. We enjoyed the beach being across the road, the ferry ride to Dauphin Island, the aquarium, the pier, and so much more. The local restaurants offered fantastic food and we now have some favs for our next visit. The drive to town was very simple and within a reasonable distance for supplies, earing, shopping, and sight seeing. The hostess responded to any and all messages before, during, and after our stay. My 16 year old son enjoyed the available pool and spa as well. It was also very clean and well set up. We definitely recommend this rental/host to anyone. We are even currently looking into a long-term rental or buying a home because we had such a great time and would enjoy moving.

Relaxing stay

The Rookery is a quiet little community with several amenities and not far from the beach. I liked that it was not crowded or loud so we were able to have a very relaxing stay.

Nice and Quiet..

My family of 5 really enjoyed it. The house was nice and clean. Its located near Fort Morgan. Secluded from the busyness of Gulf Shores its Peaceful and quiet. Public beach access very close to The Rookery. Everything you could want to do is inside of an hour drive. Highly recommend. Carol is an amazing host, easy to talk too.

Amazing Stay.

Everything was absolutely wonderful at this property. I will suggest if you like to sleep cold- turn the air down as soon as you arrive at your stay. It’s just so warm in the summer time it takes time to cool down. The public beach is just a short little 5 minute walk. However, if you have things like umbrellas and chairs to bring. The public parking is not far at all. Very nice stay and appreciate Carol for all of the advice for us staying in the area for our first time.
