About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1Baths (Sleeps 5)

This lovely cabin in a private setting is spacious yet has a warm rustic feeling. Built in the 1940s, it has a stone fireplace, maple hardwood floors, pine walls, a cathedral ceiling in the living room with a cozy sleeping loft on the mezzanine, plus two bedrooms on the main level with queen beds. There is a separate dining room that seats 6 and a breakfast room off of the kitchen. The wraparound porch has chairs and a large round table for dining or just sipping coffee. It is surrounded by a very large open lawn with mature trees and looks out at a riding stables. You can sit on the large wraparound porch or walk over to the stables and take a trail ride or riding lesson in the large indoor arena. Pony rides are also available for children. The beach is a short walk, or drive for 1 minute, park in our private spot, and walk around the corner to the beach.

The decor has been thoughtfully created by a Chicago designer and builder to be unique yet comfortable.

This home has a new 95% efficiency furnace and central air, newer appliances and is very well maintained. Pets are welcome. Email for details.

The surroundings : This home sits on a large lot and is surrounded by trees. You can see the riding stables across from the private drive. Guests can take trail rides, children can have pony rides, or just visit and bring them carrots. They are very people friendly. The beach is a short walk from the cabin, and we provide private pkg around the corner from the stairs to the water if you choose to drive for the two minutes it takes to get there.

Restaurants and shopping: There is a very nice grocery store down highway 12, which takes all of 10 minutes to get to by car. If you drive another 5 minutes, you will arrive at Light House Mall, a very large discount mall with national retailers. You can also shop and dine in New Buffalo, Michigan, which is 10 minutes in the other direction on highway 12. There are boutiques and Chicago quality restaurants in town and further up along 12, or you can head into the quaint restored town of Three Oaks to see theater, art galleries, shop, or dine.

We found the Cozy Cabin to be very cozy, close to Lake Michigan and Harbor Country

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Cozy Cabin. The kitchen is well stocked with a better than average selection of pans and utensils. The rainy days were made more enjoyable by the comfy couches and wood burning stove in the living room. The cabin is close to Lake Michigan and many craft brewers.

Comfortable Cabin/Idyllic Surroundings

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely cabin on a beautiful property! We felt very comfortable in Michiana Shores. The cabin was well equipped with everything we needed for good nights of rest, meal preparation, and relaxation activities. Our shepherd made friends with a couple horses on the property, and it was delightful to see the trainer and stable hands working with the horses. The cabin is well-situated between New Buffalo and Michigan City. There's lots to do, places to eat and shop, etc., very close by. Claudia was great to work with, and we will definitely book another trip to her property.

Excellent property, exactly as described

  • 5 of 5

We had two couples and our infant daughter (just over a year old) staying here, and it was perfect and exactly as described. We had a very relaxing week, with a campfire most nights and visits to the beach every day. The parking spot is perhaps a two minute walk from the beach steps, and some days we just walked from the house down to the beach which is about a mile or so.

There is a laundry (accessible via an external door to the basement) so you don't need to pack a lot of clothing. The space felt very comfortable and there are a lot of cooking supplies. Some condiments were available, and we paid it forward by leaving our less perishable condiments that we bought for the stay.

The house would get warm during the middle parts of the day, but we had brought two fans with us which definitely helped keep the main areas cool. Note that we stayed during a time when the weather was in the mid-80s so it is definitely expected that it was going to be warmer in the house during the afternoon.

We were expecting a high-chair to be available since it was listed in the info sheet, but after a quick call to the owner, she brought it up for us the next day. We were the first people in 1-2 years who even needed it according to the owner since we unpacked our high-chair at the last moment when we saw that one was available on the sheet. That was the only extremely minor hiccup in our plans, but the owner was extremely responsive and helpful. I would recommend confirming items you're expecting to be available based on the info sheet when you call a day or two ahead of your stay to get the door code, just so the owner knows what you expect to be using and can make sure everything is ready for you.

Overall, 5 stars, and we will be keeping this property in mind for vacation again in another few years!

Great weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is a great place to get away. It's comfortable and has a good amount of space. The fire pit is lovely, and the cats on the property were really friendly. Plus, it's close to the beach, hiking, etc. Can't wait to go back!
