About this property

The Relaxing Oaks

Welcome to the Foothills of North Carolina and our little house in the woods! The home of white squirrels and country life, we are located at the bottom of White Oak Mountain. Only 5 minutes from I-26 and Columbus NC, yet we are tucked away in nature.

Pets (up to 2 maximum) are welcome. We do charge a pet fee so be sure to include them in your reservation. If we see you have pets and have not included them in the reservation, we will charge $200 to the card on file. You are responsible for any damages that may occur while you are here with us. This includes but isn’t limited to any bedding, furniture, carpets, scratches on floors, etc and any extra cleaning cost that may need to be required. Please take your pets with you if you leave or keep them kenneled inside in your absence.

We have added a level 2 EV charger! Please let me know if you will be using it for your vehicle. It is ONLY for our paying guests. No friends and family, it is reserved only for those in the reservation.

If you’re interested, be sure to look for the white squirrels while you’re here. They are known to show their presence in the morning outside our little house in the woods!

This spacious 1 Bedroom -1 Bath apartment is resting on a slope surrounded by trees on the back side. You will take the steps up the side to the entry, step inside and relax! There is also a sleeper sofa in the living room if you need the extra bed.

Outside offers a place for fire pit if the weather allows for that. Bring your hammock and string it up between trees if you wish. We have nature outside the back door!

For the more adventurous, we are only a short 10 - 15 minute drive to the top of white Oak Mountain where you will have panoramic views.

Whether you are passing through and need a place to stay for the night or want to stay for a week, We hope you will find this place a resting place or a somewhere that you can set aside the worries of life for just a bit and relax!

Quaint & modern apartment over garage

I was in town for a horse show at Harmon Field and this apartment was perfect for my stay! With it only about 7 minutes away from the show grounds and Main Street Tryon it was a perfect location! It was clean, spacious and the owners went above and beyond with snacks, coffee, breakfast food etc. I would definitely stay here again when in town.

Great Columbus Stay

What an awesome and quiet place to stay in Columbus. Great weather for the Tryon Beer Fest weekend. Firepit area was fantastic to be able to sit out there after grilling out. If anyone would ever forget any toiletries or anything else, the owners were guaranteed to already have thought of it and had items for guests if needed. Outstanding communication from Rose with quick and very helpful with any correspondence. Highly recommended locale!

The Oaks... a mindful place

This little cottage in the woods of the lower Blue Ridge mountains provides an opportunity for the traveler to be free of life's complications and fully engaged in the present moment... to appreciate the simple beauty of nature, family, friends and yourself. Wow, this place was amazing . Our Host Rose went above and beyond. We had a wonderful time exploring the area, hiking and visiting the sites. The property was superb, all the amenities plus fresh homemade chocolate chip cookies were waiting for us when we arrived. That sealed the deal. Five stars all the way around.

Wonderful Mountain Getaway

My wife, kids and myself all had a wonderful time staying at this beautiful mountain getaway. Not only is this house beautiful and modern, but they provide all of the little things that make your stay that much more comfortable. We were especially grateful for the pack and play as well as the air mattress that were provided. These made staying with a toddler and an infant a breeze without making it feel crowded. We will definitely be looking to stay here again next time we are in the area!

Fully stocked, clean, oasis in the woods

This place was amazing! So clean, so comfortable, and stocked full of essentials. I couldn’t get over how every last detail was thought of. Our kids loved running around in the woodsy property and exploring nature. The decor was very aesthetic and the bed was comfortable. Blackout shades helped provide a great nights sleep and every window had them. Probably the best small place we have ever stayed in and will recommend to all!

Is it possible to rate this property higher than EXCELLENT?! We arrived to this beautiful property in the dark, pouring rain. We were greeted to an amazing space, homemade cookies and all the comforts of home. Our daughter enjoyed the games, toys, and books left for kids and my husband and I are already talking about upgrades to our own home based on the décor and style of this property. We hope that we have the chance to visit again because we would jump at the chance to stay here again. Highly recommended!

Considerately set up!

You can tell the owners have spent time thinking about their guests and ways to make them feel comfortable. They had a variety of staples available (variety of sugars, creamer, coffee) and small items (Ziplock bags and makeup wipes) that just went that extra step in making you feel comfortable. They even had extra little snacks for our enjoyment that really made us feel valued. There was a nice deck, a fire pit, and swing that I wish we had had more time to enjoy. I would recommend this stay without any hesitations! Very comfortable.

Wonderful hospitality - Exceptional Home

From the moment we entered, we felt welcomed and at home. This home is well equipped. We lacked for nothing. Appreciated the food provided so we could have breakfast before heading out for the day. The homemade granola and fruit was terrific. Our questions were answered promptly. The checkout process was easy. The home is exceptionally comfortable. It was awesome seeing the white squirrels. We strongly recommend this for your stay in Columbus. You won't be disappointed. We definitely will plan to stay here again when we return next year.

Such great hospitality when arriving! Our host set out snacks and refreshments for us to enjoy and even set up the pull out couch with sheets and pillows so that we didn’t have to mess with anything once we arrived. So thoughtful and we appreciated every bit! Thank you!

Great if wanting seclusion.

Everything needed was provided, except for an outdoor grill, which we went and purchased a small one to use. Kitchen and bath were very well stocked with needed accessories. In summary, apartment was comfortable and lovely.
