About The Owner

This home is owned by 3 generations of family. Grandma still lives on her own and loves to garden and maintain her home in Portland. Daughter and son work in finance and live in Portland. Grandson and his wife live in north Clark county. They work in healthcare and tend to the needs of their very spoiled terrier named Lily.

The Owner purchased this house in 2006

Why The Owner chose Manzanita

Manzanita is the perfect Oregon beach town. It has grocery, great restaurants, shopping and a fun golf course...with none of the crowds of other coastal towns. Year around it is a very mellow and relaxing place to spend time. The home provides comfortable space for larger groups, yet is designed with privacy in mind.

What makes this house unique

The views from this home are unparalleled. Make a fire, a cup of strong coffee and watch waves of weather wash over manzanita. Spring, Summer and Fall are perfect walking and golfing times. Winter is storm watching time.

Beautiful home

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time in this house over 2 days. The weather was very stormy and we stayed inside most of the time. Kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms are well stocked with plenty of cookware, dishes, linens and towels.

This house, however, should really be presented as a 4 bedroom vs. 5 even though the house is big enough to sleep 20 people, at least.

Comfortable and Relaxing Place to Vacation Year Round

  • 5 of 5

Ten women who met each other 52 years ago as college freshmen enjoyed a wonderful late summer long weekend at this property. It conformed to the online property description in all respects. We appreciated that it was so clean, nicely decorated, and in a quiet and relatively unpopulated area of town. There was ample comfortable space in the upper floor living room, dining room and kitchen for congregations of the entire group as well as cozy nooks on the lower level for private time and one on one conversations. The home was oriented to provide gorgeous beautiful ocean views at all levels, although direct beach access from the house was over a rather steep dune which was fine going downhill but rather laborious for 70 year olds coming back uphill. Most opted to drive to a point where one could simply walk out on the long lovely beach without the extra effort of climbing a tall sand dune following a walk. Another good point about this rental experience was that the property owner was very helpful and responsive to questions and requests regarding reservation and payment matters, promptly reimbursed the damage deposit fee. I would not hesitate to rent this home again for another gathering of this size.

When eight 67 year old women can find enough beds, kitchen utensils, and bathrooms, all clean, YEA!!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was clean and welcoming. The owners respond quickly if a problem occurs (couldn't get dryer working). There is so much space to separate and find comfy places to read. We just love coming here.

Beautiful view from every room

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at this house in July 2017 and had a wonderful time. There were 12 of us and we felt the home had plenty of space for sleeping and spreading out. We loved sitting on the balcony overlooking the ocean and sharing family dinners around the large dining table. While it would have been nice to have easier beach access, being on the road above the beach allowed for amazing views. We watched the sunset every night and loved it!

Roomy, practical, beautiful view and location in a small uncrowded beach town of Manzanita!

  • 4 of 5

House is located on a slope side street overlooking the expansive beach and coastline. Full glass walls both downstairs and upstairs allow you to feel like you're living on the beach.

The town of Manzanita puts on the best fireworks show we've ever seen - a full 45 minutes - right on the beach below the house and made it an unforgettable 4th of July. Beautiful hiking to the north, Cannon Beach Is a great town to wander around. Crabbing a d kayaking to the south, beach activity right st the house. All of it makes for a perfect location.

House is well supplied with linens, kitchen is well stocked and easily handled our group of 16. We had 4 cars and had plenty of room to park.

Property management was helpful and prompt with little things like propane. I might suggest better instructions be left for the pellet stoves (which levers are the flue or the intake air and how/when to stop the fans - we smoked out the downstairs until we figured out the fans). One other suggestion is to replace the crude entry stairs leading into the house. Not suitable for the place and not suitable for the elderly - too uneven.

Overall, I would highly recommend the unit and the location. Maurice has a winner that any large group would be able to enjoy!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review, glad you had a great holiday week. The front entry stairs are being replaced in the fall with a new concrete porch and stairs so entry will be easier very soon.
