About this property

The American Eagle - Stunning Harbor Views w/ 2 bedroom (Inn on the Harbor)

The American Eagle is a gorgeous unit with 2 bedrooms: one with twin beds and a master bedroom room furnished with one queen, full bath, hairdryer, tv with cable, and free wifi. The fully furnished kitchen is equipped with pots and pans along with plates and cutlery. Enjoy the dining room set for four or relax in the cozy sitting area with a large window facing the harbor and an electric fireplace. Access to a private deck and stunning harbor water views of Stonington's historic waterfront.
Here you can enjoy the views, the distant foghorns, the breezes coming off of the Atlantic, the working lobster harbor right outside of your window and an authentic (not too touristy) experience. You can park the car, hop on the mail boat and hike all day on Isle Au Haut, grab some Kayaks and tool around the harbor, go see a show at the Opera House, nosh on top-rated food at the Fin and Fern, explore the quaint shops and pier and crack a nice bottle of wine on the deck at the end of the day.

Yes, you can stay here for Acadia! Yes, it's a little more of an arms-length from the craziness of Bar Harbor but we think it's the perfect home base for the REAL Acadia adventure and true 'Maine experience'.

From Stonington, you can still reach Mount Desert Island and the major Acadia attractions. Top-rated Puffin tours also leave from Stonington or you can explore the trails of Crockett Cove Woods or roam the art gardens of Nervous Nellies after buying some local jam. Inn On The Harbor, Open Hearth Inn, and The Gust House are all locally owned and operated by Ohana Inns. Ohana means family and when you stay with us you'll see why we call everyone Ohana. If you have any questions about this listing or any of our other properties, inquire or call and we will make sure to find you the best spot for your vacation/adventure.

DOG POLICY:

Dear Guest,

Here at Inn on the Harbor, we welcome your four-legged family member. However, due to some circumstances, we ONLY ALLOW DOGS on our property. Also, we ask the following of you, as the pet owner.

1. Please DO NOT leave your pet in the rooms unattended
2. Please pick up all the excrement they may leave.
3. Please have your dog on a leash under your control, when enjoying the deck areas.
4. Please try to refrain your dog from barking.

We have supplied you with a pet basket, which includes the following:

1. A blanket to be used if your pet sleeps on the furniture, or with you on the bed.
2. A towel to be used if your pet gets wet.
3. If you use the pet blankets and or towel, Please DO NOT put them back in the pet box. We laundry them after every use for the safety of other dogs.

We have dog treats, extra poo bags, and a gate in the common room.

There will be an additional cleaning fee added to your bill if your pet makes a mess of the room and or bedding.

We hope that you and your four-legged family member have a great stay here at the Inn on the Harbor.

Thank you:
Management & Staff
At Ohana Inns, we are available 24/7 through call, text, or email.
When staying with us, you can expect total privacy but a quick and prompt response should you reach out.

Here are some good restaurants and coffee shops that you can check out: Fin and Fern, Acadia House Provisions, 44 North Coffee, Harbor Cafe, Lily's House, and Stonecutters Kitchen. (Please check off-season schedules with each restaurant. Many places could be closed during off-season months).

To do your groceries, you can go to Burnt Cove Market (about 1.5 miles away) or take a short walk to the closest market (but smaller) Harbor View Store.

Please consider bringing your specialty groceries, although we feel that the Burnt Cove market does have a pretty good selection, it doesn't have everything.
To access the property, our team will provide you with a lock code for the electronic keypad prior to your arrival.

Accessibility: All of our rooms have held shower heads. Shower chairs are available but they have to be requested prior to arrival so please let us know if you need them before your check-in.
In 2022, after a tough pandemic, we bumped into the opportunity to purchase this “space”. We here at Ohana Inns feel that the solace, surroundings, seabreeze, harbor, vibes, schooners, lobstering, birds and lapping waves make this one of the most beautiful places on the planet. That is what we think about this space :).

You’ll notice that each of the rooms is named after a schooner from the area. So each room is a little different in shape, size, decor, and view plane. They all share access to our centerpiece, which is the mass of deck overhanging the quintessential Maine harbor of Stonington.

We invite you, we dare you, we hope you come down and fill your cup with the Inn on the Harbor. It’s the kind of place you’ll never forget. If you are lucky enough to live within driving distance….. you’ll be back time and time again ;).

Aloha from our Ohana to yours!! We will see you soon at IOTH!

40th Wedding Anniversary
Our second floor two-bedroom harbor view room was perfect -- clean and spacious. All the amenities to relax and enjoy meals and refreshments while viewing Stonington Harbor and lobster boats from the outside deck and through the large living room windows. Leisurely walks through the charming coastal town. Friendly residents and shopkeepers. Staff were friendly and courteous. An added bonus was when we discovered we left behind an item of clothing. I texted the next day and received an immediate response. Fortunately, they found it and mailed it to our home within a week of our stay. So appreciative of their service. A lovely 40th anniversary celebration!

middle of nowhere
contactless checkin/checkout (this is not always desirable since you don't have a person to talk to even though the office was right there), place was clean, very nice view. We had to park across the street and up a hill. key was very hard to lock the door-we had to struggle a number of times to get it to turn. no shades/curtains on large window-paned door. even though websites indicated several restaurants were open, once we got there they were all closed for the season in late April. We should have been notified by owner of this fact and warn us to bring groceries or drive at least an hour or more to get a decent meal.
