About Scott and Patti Slaga

We are originally from Chicago, relocated to San Diego for the fantastic year round weather, ocean activities and beaches. We love Lake Tahoe and have been avid fans since 1991 for the beautiful clear lakes, skiing/snowboarding, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, biking and local trails. In 2004 we purchased our home and it is our treasure! You will enjoy its warm and inviting feeling.

Why Scott and Patti Slaga chose Upper Kingsbury

We chose this property for the quiet family friendly neighborhood, the spacious lot, the close proximity to the trails, the easy access to the casinos, Heavenly Village, shopping and the lake. We love the mountains, numerous lakes, the many outdoor activities, and the closeness to San Francisco. We live in San Diego for the beaches and year round weather. Lake Tahoe is the perfect compliment!

What makes this house unique

Our house is in a magical location. It is located near the top of the Kingsbury Grade, surrounded by beautiful forest and excellent hiking trails. It is 4.3 miles to the lake, casinos, Edgewood Golf course and Heavenly's Village; 2.3 miles to Heavenly's Boulder Lodge and 3.2 miles to the Stagecoach Lodge for skiing and snowboarding in the winter; and hiking and mountain biking in the summer. The Tahoe Rim Trail head is 1/2 block from our house, awesome for hiking and biking in the summer and is dog-friendly. Our home sits on a wonderful acre lot; the backyard is fenced for the safety of children and pets with lots of space to run and offers shade from the 100-200ft trees. In the winter the yard offers sledding and snowman making. The big deck lets you enjoy dining outside, relaxing in the sun, and the enjoyment of the spa. We love to cook so the 5-burner gas top, double kitchen sinks, the double convection wall ovens, 50lb ice maker, quiet dishwasher and all the plates, pots and pans will help you create a feast!

Our home is located at 7,300 ft. This higher elevation can be difficult for some people at an older age or with Asthma. The house is a one story construction on a raised foundation accessed by a staircase off the driveway or inside the garage. If someone in your group has difficulty with stairs, during the non-winter months, they can access the house via the side yard walking up a few steps onto the wood deck and then one step through the kitchen slider.

Everything we had hoped for

  • 5 of 5

10 of us stayed here for 3 nights in Feb. 2018 our 3rd annual ski Tahoe ski trip. We always look for a place with a hot tub, pool table, fireplace, and a big dining table where we can all sit together. This home had it all, plus a neat cabin feel and decor. The place was clean, warm, plenty of hot water, comfortable mattresses, 3 bathrooms, and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking for a large group. Just minutes to Heavenly's back side where we were able to choose from Stagecoach or Boulder lodge to go out from and both had open parking.

The hosts were very nice and communicative, and we all hope to return next year!

Awesome place to stay for a large group

  • 4 of 5

My family and I loved the cabin. The floorplan is one single floor which makes it easy for elderly family members to get around. The kitchen is awesome for those that prefer to stay in and cook. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need. Plenty of space for everyone and a huge tv in the main room. Plenty of board games, puzzles, and a pool table for entertainment. The backyard is huge! The only complaints I got from my family members were that the beds could have been more comfortable, hence the 4 out of 5 stars.

Awesome, again!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year staying at Scott and Patti's cabin and once again it was wonderful! First let me say, that the owners, Scott and Patti, are great! When you decide to stay at their home, they send you all the info that could ever be needed when staying in Lake Tahoe! They gave us information on grocery stores, restaurants, trails, what shows were playing at the casinos and the list goes on and on! The home is located in Upper Kingsbury which is a beautiful mountain area of Tahoe. You are in the mountains yet really close to the casinos and the lake. There are hiking and riding trails within walking distance, Heavenly Valley Ski Resort is right there as well. I would much rather stay in Upper Kingsbury than down in the flat lands with all the traffic and people!

In regards to their home, it is a perfect spot to enjoy your vacation! Large living room with plenty of comfortable seating, a huge TV (I think it is 80"!), a jukebox with millions of songs, a pool table, a good sized hot tub and a large dining table that seats at least 12 people, and a huge granite kitchen island which probably seats 10 people. The decor is super cute and woodsy, the beds are very comfortable and they have wonderful pillows! Oh, and they have a built in ice maker, not the kind that you find with a refrigerator but a whole separate built-in appliance just for ice! Oh, and don't let me forget a whole wall of board games and a library full of books! Also, huge deck and yard! They have thought of everything you could ever need!!

Amazing Tahoe Cabin Rental

  • 5 of 5

Scott & Patti are amazing hosts that have thought of everything to make this your home away from home. They were even watching the snow forecast for our ski/snowboard weekend & sent us local events to check out while we were in town. The cabin is extremely spacious to comfortably fit 12 people in the bedrooms as well as the massive living/dining room area. There were amenities galore including a giant living room TV, pool table, hot tub, juke box, sleds for the backyard & a very large kitchen (with two sinks, Keurig coffee maker, dishwasher, large ice maker, etc). Our dog friends loved the gigantic backyard to romp through the snow, with dog beds & bowls provided. Plus the cabin was extremely close to the Heavenly Stagecoach/Boulder lodges as well as the South Lake Tahoe casinos. We definitely want to rent this cabin again! Extra bonus points because Scott & Patti are Chicago sports fans & have even named their dog "Ditka"!!!

Great place for our group of eight!

  • 5 of 5

Scott and Patti were super accommodating, and they will let you know of everything the area has to offer for activities and entertainment. The trail head at the end of the road is a good place to find some sledding hills and areas to mess around in the snow. The little hill in the backyard would be great for kids as well. The house itself is stocked with everything you could wish for, especially for cooking! There are also plenty of books and games to pass the time in the evenings if you are not a TV person. We also loved the open floor plan of the house and the fact that it is a single story. DO NOT pass this one up! We will most definitely be returning!
