We really enjoyed our stay. The apartment was just perfect. The terrace is very nice to have a drink and enjoy a lovely sunset. What a wonderful city! Breda, Josee & Paule, Montreal, Canada

Great flat, awesome location

  • 5 of 5

The flat was on a perfect location in Barcelona with several small stores around, very close to all public transportation. The best thing of the flat was that it looked from the period but still with modern facilities. Beds were confortable

A charming property that maintains many original features including tiling, doors and windows.

  • 4 of 5

We spent 5 comfortable nights at this property. It was everything that was advertised. Clean and bright and conveniently located 4 blocks from the metro. Walking distance to many attractions including the Sagrada Familia, Cash Mila and Cash Batllo. Local restaurants offer a variety of options and price points. The washer/dryer works best on the rapid cycle for efficiency with respects to time required to complete the job. The dryer can get quite hot so do pay attention to the settings you select. Take time to view the exterior of the building and note the windows and balconies. We walked on Passeig Sant Joan past the Verdaguer station a few blocks and found an area where local street markets are held on Saturday. A great find!

Downside: as noted in a previous review the dining room chairs require re-appolstering and there was "construction" work being done in the building that brought noise that we could have done without. We never did meet the greeter who would have given us an orientation to the neighbourhood which is always helpful.

Would we stay there again? Yes, for sure!

The property is old and tired and in need of some work.

  • 2 of 5

The apartment has many charming architectural details as seen in the photos but they are misleading. The kitchen is updated and is the nicest room. However the coffee maker was missing the coffee basket and as said before the washer/dryer combo was complicated. We gave up trying to use the dryer. The bathroom is very small and the shower needed attention. The bedroom was fine. The dinning room chairs as said are a joke as your bottom goes through the seat.

I didn't mind the neighborhood. It is full of families living there lives with children playing, dogs barking and music playing none of which was ever terrible.

The wi-fi seldom worked. The roof top terrace was nice for a view of the neighborhood.

I wouldn't recommend this apartment.

Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

We are mystified by all the wonderful reviews of this apartment. It is not what it seems and we were really disappointed. We ended up spending as much time OUTSIDE the apartment as we could because we really hated being there. We arrived in the evening and immediately began calling local hotels to see if they had any availability, because we wanted OUT. Unfortunately, it being peak season and we are a family of four, there was nothing left.

First of all, it's on a really dark scary looking block. From the moment you enter the lobby you realize the place is the pits. Dirty, not kept up, and we did not feel safe.

Then the apartment - ugh. Dumpy. Depressing. The beddings are not what is shown in the photos (ours were old and really sad looking) and under the coffee table in the living room is a hideous red shag rug (not what is shown in the photos) of uncertain cleanliness.

We'd looked forward to the sunny breakfast nook. Sunny, yes. But your view is the back side of some very sad looking apartments that are in various states of disrepair. And the chairs there absolutely sink when you sit in them. Felt like I'd fallen into a hole.

The wifi was unreliable - kept cutting out.

Then we used the bathroom. There is mold on the shower door. Water leaked everywhere. Not from the shower itself, but from a pipe in the wall leading to the shower, so water was actually coming from the wall, near the floor and toilet, when the shower was on!

Then the air conditioning went out. This is actually where the one bright spot shows up - Eduardo, the maintenance guy, once he actually came (it took all day because he initially went to the wrong apartment for this service call). He explained that when there is high demand, the system will crash, and ours is the one apartment that ends up without AC. Really? Maybe someone could put that in a note somewhere with instructions on how to reset the system, which is what Eduardo did. Meantime, he was very apologetic and brought us extra fans and clean towels. He really was fabulous.

This seemed like a bargain and I guess you get what you pay for. The really sad part is this place has potential - the tile floors would be beautiful if they were scrubbed clean. The ceilings have some really beautiful old details that were covered up with cheap Ikea lighting. The sofa and area rug should be replaced and the bathroom should be gutted and completely redone.

Take our advice and find a different place to stay!

Excellent apartment for a Barcelona vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 stayed at the Valencia Classic apartment for 8 nights during the end of August and enjoyed the place very much, It's close to the Verdageur metro and withink walking distance of Passeig de Gracia and Sagrada Familia. The owners were great in responding to our emails and the instructions for getting in and checking out were excellent. Their recommendations for nearby restaurants also worked out well. It was really nice to be able to start the day with a breakfast sitting at the terrace dining area, overlooking the inner courtyard. We also enjoyed the views from the rooftop terrace. The floor tiles and the ceiling of the apartment were simply stunning. We'd definitely come back to this apartment during our subsequent visits to Barcelona and we'll recommend it to our friends and family.

Old World Charm - The Good and Bad

  • 5 of 5

The good: Absolutely loved the feel of this apartment and building. We were mesmerized by the beautiful tile floors, the ceiling, fireplace, solid old world doors and window closures for pitch black, breakfast in the sun/dining room, the master bedroom with doors to open wide for fresh air, great little kitchen, and loved the location as off the beaten path a bit, but close enough to all. Had everything we needed. Upon arrival the staff arranged a meeting with us later in the AM to go over the area, and the details of the apartment. She was incredibly helpful and nice.

The not so good: In the confirmation email, we were given the wrong code to open the apartment, however after our call, the rep was pretty quick to show up. Make sure you pay attention on how to use the clothes washer, as we had the hardest time using it. Because our phone/email ran out of minutes, we had no way of reaching the staff for assistance. Also, check to see if the construction is still going on a few buildings down. They were loud workers...so no sleeping in. Finally, if you want a sprawling bathroom, this is not your place. Tough to navigate with the door closed.

Regardless, overall, we loved our stay here!
