About Steve & Toni Qualls
Back in the 70's we (Stephen & Toni) shared Durango family fun and the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad with our son and his Grandma Margaret. Little did we imagine our son and his wife would 're-discover' Durango and bring it back into our lives. We loved their East Rim Condo and fly-fishing on the mountain so much, we decided to get our own! We are excited to create new family memories with our 3 daughters & son, their wonderful spouses and our 9 beloved Grandchildren. We also look forward to our Guests enjoying the ambiance of mountain home that we are blessed to have. We fell in love with the interior charm right away (we've always dreamed of a log cabin)and the location makes it easy to play.
Steve & Toni Qualls purchased this Condo in 2010
Why Steve & Toni Qualls chose Durango
Too many things we love about Durango to fit into a little paragraph! Just to name a few: Ample places to explore for Fly fishing (how much gear do you have Steve???), wonderful walks along Hermosa Creek, the refreshing mountain air with morning coffee, superb selection of restaurants, BBQing on the mountain view patio, Great selection of Churches and downtown activities, the old cowboy mining towns of Silverton and Ouray (is that more than a few?)
What makes this Condo unique
We are so wonderfully close to the slopes, lodge and village. Down our steps, and a few meters across the brave can ski right down to the bunny slope and transit lift area. 'Rule-followers' Ha Ha, have just a 2 minute walk right to the main lift area. We joined the DMMA, and pay an additional 8% that we include in our rates so our guests can also share in the enjoyment of the outdoor pool (heated in cool months, hot tub, well-equipped fitness center, tennis courts and valet ski check & Spa (the last two are optional and do have additional fees for us as well, however the DMMA key you receive at check-in gives you access to the areas).

Felt right at home!
Loved the cabin! From amenities to decor, the condo was great! Thank you so much for opening up your home; we look forward to renting again!
Cozy, clean and perfect location!
We loved this condo. It was clean, comfortable and cozy. Amazing location next to the lifts. We will definitely stay here again!
Great location, great views, very well appointed, a truly memorable stay!
We've stayed at a lot of places that look good in pictures and suggest they are "well-appointed" but Cowboy Comfortable lived up to the ratings, the pictures and the idea of being well-appointed. It has everything we needed, was ski-up close to the trails, and compared to another East Rim condo we stayed in a few years back - this was far better. Steve and Toni know what they are doing and provided clear instructions for everything and it was a great experience. Thanks Steve and Toni - much appreciated and of course, the mountain is epic!
Top notch accommodation!!!!
This is as nice of a place as you can get for the price. Ideal location right by the main lift. Probably as well stocked of a place as I’ve ever rented. Kitchen supplies galore including all the necessary consumables like baggies, foil, etc. I will definitely stay here again.
Thank you for all of the nice things you said about your stay. We love sharing our home with such nice guests. Our goal is to make you feel right at home so that you can relax and have an exceptional time enjoying everything Durango has to offer.
We will be looking forward to your return visit.

Condo was fantastic
Great location, great place, we had a fantastic time. I highly recommend this condo
Great condo on a great mountain!
This was our second stay at Steve and Toni's condo and once again we loved it. We feel that this condo is a tremendous value for our ski trips to Purgatory. I've spent a lot of time researching condos at Purgatory and I don't think you will find a rental condo that is as spacious, comfortable, well decorated, and as close to the lifts at this price. The fact that Steve and Toni are so nice and accommodating is just icing on the cake.
Last year, my wife and I stayed in the downstairs bedroom and let our daughter have the loft. This year, we took the loft and we really enjoyed the extra space and the bigger bathroom. We found both beds comfy, so you can expect a good nights sleep either way. You can also pull the curtains in the loft to reduce the noise of the kids watching TV downstairs.
There are two couches and a large, comfy chair in the living room to relax in after a long day on the slopes. The kitchen had almost everything we needed and we didn't eat at the resort a single time in the eight days we were there. Nice grill on the deck that allowed us to have burgers and dogs a couple of nights.
The snow conditions weren't fantastic in the middle of February this year but the fact that it was nearly a ghost town during the week with no lines at the lifts more that made up for it. If you are considering lessons, spend the money for private lessons with Chip. He is phenomenal both for kids and adults. You will thank me later.
The comfort and value of this condo, along with the value that Purgatory offers as a family ski trip destination, will keep us coming back again and again.
Chris, thank you so much! Of course you know that you are one of our favorite families that have stayed with us.
We really worked to our "snow dance" moves this year, but so far the winter skies have been stingy. Maybe it is saving up for February - let's hope so.
Also thank you for the nice words for the resort and about the ski instructors. I will pass this along to the ski school.
We are keeping the light on for your next visit.
