About this property

Mountain cabin w/hot tub, fire pit & pet-friendly

Summary:

Experience cozy mountain living at Hummingbird Ridge, a newly renovated cabin perfect for families and small groups seeking a Shenandoah Valley retreat. Enjoy the hot tub under stars, a fire pit for s'mores, and a deck for sunrise coffee.

- Sleeps 10 | 4 bedrooms | 7 beds | 1.5 baths

- Hot tub & fire pit w/ seating

- Deck with string lights & BBQ grill

- Pellet stove fireplace & living area

- Full kitchen, Smart TV & WiFi

- Workspace, kids' play area & pet-friendly

The Space:

The crisp mountain air brushes against the tall windows as the sun paints the ridge gold, and the soft glow of string lights flickers on the deck. Inside, the pellet‑stove fireplace crackles, inviting you to linger over a mug of coffee while snow drifts silently outside. Evenings stretch out under a sky full of stars, perfect for soaking in the hot tub and listening to the hush of the forest. Here, time slows and the rhythm of the season becomes your own.

Sleeping Arrangements

Four bedrooms accommodate up to ten guests. One bedroom offers a double bed. Two bedrooms each feature twin‑over‑queen bunk beds, ideal for families or mixed‑age groups. The fourth bedroom contains two twin beds. Linens, extra pillows, and blankets are provided for cooler nights.

Bathrooms

A newly renovated full bathroom serves the main living area, and an additional half bath is located upstairs. Bathroom essentials are supplied for convenience.

Kitchen & Dining

The fully equipped kitchen provides ample counter space and seating for shared meals, warm drinks, or a relaxed breakfast before heading out. A BBQ grill on the large deck extends the dining experience outdoors.

Outdoor Living

A spacious deck wrapped in string lighting overlooks a private, grassy backyard. The hot tub remains a favorite in colder weather, steaming into the night sky. A fire pit with surrounding seating invites s’mores and stories. A children’s play area and open space allow for games when the weather permits.

Living Space & Amenities

High ceilings and expansive windows fill the living area with natural light. The pellet‑stove fireplace adds a cozy focal point for winter evenings, while electric heat and window A/C units keep the cabin comfortable year‑round. A Smart TV and Wi‑Fi support movie nights and video calls, though speeds may vary due to the remote location. A dedicated workspace in a private room offers a quiet spot for focus.

Location

Nestled in Mount Jackson, the cabin is a short drive from the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, offering scenic hikes and seasonal beauty. Bryce Resort lies about twenty minutes away, providing winter sports and warmer‑weather recreation, along with dining and local shops.

Perfect For

Families, friends, and small groups seeking a pet‑friendly mountain retreat where dogs are welcome but cats are not. Whether gathered around the pellet stove, soaking in the hot tub on a cold evening, or exploring the surrounding forest, the cabin serves as a comfortable base for a Shenandoah Valley escape.

You can not beat the tranquility of this secluded spot in the mountains. And the owner's communication was fast and efficient. The bed was super comfy and the view of the stars at night was sublime. I enjoyed my stay very much.

It Is What IT IS.

It was surprising what the cabin did and did not have. It was better than most as far as cookware, kitchen supplies, shower supplies and so forth. It was under supplied in tea towels (for a week of cooking), electrical outlets near mirrors (to style one's hair - no outlet in the bathroom) and no dresser, closet or even a luggage rack in the smallest bedroom. Linens were nice. We enjoyed use of the deck grill, fire pit and hot tub and grilled and cooked daily. It is pet friendly but no gates are on the porch. They say to bring your own baby gates (2) which we do not have. I would've rented 2 if they made that an option. We had a blast zip line riding and my 10 year old grandson could not stop taking pics at Luray Caverns. Fantastic place. My favorite pants badly snagged on a rough spot on the deck . Some safety issues exist. The steps up from the driveway to the deck steps are unsafe and steep. We are retired, not young, and my husband has 2 ribs still healing from a past injury. He had to drag two ice chests and one large suitcase up those unsteady steps to the deck steps. The lose stepping stones up to the hot tub are dangerous for children and adults. The deck around the hot tub is to narrow to safely uncover and cover the tub. Narrow deck exists at the tub entry. Two chairs were broken. The rocking chair inside; we reported quickly. It was not repaired during our stay. A lovely wooden deck chair was also falling apart. The shower curtain is hung to low and drags on the shower floor. Another fall risk . We will return to the area one autumn; when my youngest grandchild is big enough to zip line on Mamma Bear. They will want to see Luray Cavern again. We will look for a different cabin. A safer one.

Nice Chalet in convenient location

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was bigger than expected and the rooms were nice. Communication with the owner was easy. The hot tub was an added bonus. AND, the firepit in back was nicely setup.

A very cozy cabin

Perfect if you have a group of friends that just need an escape. The cabin is great, the fire pit is very nice, and it’s secluded enough where you have a sense of privacy.

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Hummingbird Ridge in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
