we had a great time here. just a couple minor cleanup issues that were promptly addresses. beds super comfy. great internet connection. tv for kids, wonderful deck view and hot tub. would love to come back.
The property - and the land it is set on - are beautiful! We loved the fireplace, played endless games at the dining table, and used the hottub non-stop! The most pleasant surprise of the house is how well-stocked the kitchen is - such a treat to be able to cook with higher end pots, pans, knives, etc! The kitchen had everything I reached for, which anyone who travels frequently can tell you is not often the case! The property management company was excellent and very helpful. So nice to have snowplay nearby! We had a great trip!
It was no listed about the central air or fans, so there was NO AIR CONDITIONER in the cabin the weather that weekend was 107 in side the cabin stayed o er 100 degrees all weekend. There were only 2 portable fans forthe whole house & 1 ceiling fan upstairs. The central fan had very little power. We said something when we left & they said its only been that hot for the last few years so there was no need for air conditioning. I am from that erae it is always is hot up there since i was young. The house was beautiful & quit. We just wont rent a house there with no air again. Just have to kall to be sure.
We had a splendid time at this vacation rental!! We were mainly staying to have close access to Bear Valley Mountain for snowboarding/skiing. Arnold is a beautiful area and the house sits on a property with a back view of the woods, which accentuated the hot tub sessions. All the appliances and kitchenware were stocked well and in great shape! We had an excellent experience here and there were very few things that may have altered that experience. All in all, fantastic. If I were to be nitpicky, there would be four things to mention as "not-so-greats. The bathrooms are both downstairs, away from the main living and eating areas, down a full flight of steps. We stayed when there was no snowfall on the ground; I could see the driveway being an issue during a heavy snow due to its narrowness at the bottom and grade. The hot tub cover has no retaining mechanism; getting it off the tub is easy but putting it back on is a chore. We had to stop at the real estate agency to gain access to the rental. A real estate coded lock for entry would have been more convenient. That said, the real estate office is easy to find and just off hwy4, so its not out of the way by any means. All that aside, I would elect to stay here again!

Thank you for the detailed and thoughtful review of your vacation rental experience. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
The cabin itself was great and having the hot tub for after snow play soak was excellent. Some cons: under and behind beds were large clumps of dust. Also the filter in the air intake vent, which is large and in middle of downstairs space, was completely full of dust. Filters are supposed to be changed every 6 months or so and the date on it was from 2022. Not trying to sound overly picky as I am definitely not that concerned about dust but this was quite extreme. All that dust did have an effect on our younger son. His eyes were red for several days and he was sneezing whenever we were in the house.
The bigger issue I had is that there was only one thin blanket per bed. After booking, I received an email from the management company stating that we should bring our own blankets. This was incredibly frustrating because we have a prius and it was was already packed full with all our snow/travel gear. The email stated Covid as being the reason they can't provide extra blankets. This is unbelievable in 2024 as we known now Covid does not spread via blankets. Then the power went out from 5pm - 12am our second night and I had only brought two extra blankets because that's all we could fit. We all had to huddle in front of the gas fireplace (thank god it had that) and could not sleep until midnight because downstairs where the beds are it was 51 degrees. With enough blankets we could have managed sleeping at that temp.
We loved our stay. The house is in a neighborhood, but the way it is situated at the end and the way the windows and deck face its very secluded and you can't really see any neighbors - just trees. The house was very clean & all the appliances were new. We loved using the deck, the hot tub, and having the sliding doors open. My son enjoyed playing the games they had. It's close to Calaveras Big Trees State Park as well.
Great location the back of the house faces the woods, so you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere (but it's still a neighborhood) the property had everything you need to feel at home, kitchen is fully stocked with everything you would need to cook. The only drawback is the beds were way too firm for our liking.
