About the host
Hosted by Chris Gasbarro

Hi—we’re Kathy and Chris!
We run an event agency and one day looked at each other and said, “What if we had our own venue—somewhere we could create truly special gatherings?” That dream became Quietude.
After discovering this 100-year-old property tucked in the New Hampshire woods, we spent a year renovating it with love and intention. Now, it’s where we host our clients—and where we welcome families, friend-cations, and retreats of all kinds.
Kathy’s been coming to the Lakes Region since childhood (just down the road in Wolfeboro), and Chris is most at home in the mountains—hiking, skiing, and casting flies in cold rivers. Quietude is a blend of both worlds: comfort and connection, nature and craft.
You might also meet Dan, our caretaker and resident woodworking wizard. He keeps the grounds pristine and built many of the furniture pieces and wooden platters you’ll find around the property—crafted from trees we repurposed during the restoration.
This place means the world to us. We’d be honored to share it with you..

Why they chose this property
The moment we saw this property, we knew—there’s truly nothing else like it in New England.
Built in 1904, Quietude has retained its historic charm while embracing thoughtful updates. What sets it apart isn’t just the architecture or the acreage—it’s the feeling. With three separate buildings spread across 60 private acres, it’s an immersive retreat into nature and stillness. There’s a reason we named it Quietude.
Some guests never make it farther than the porch, the library, or the 50 feet to the overlook. Others cast a fly and pull in a 16” rainbow trout, explore the wooded trails, or take off on a 30-mile snowmobile ride that starts right at the door.
Whether you’re here to explore or unplug completely, there’s no better escape—just under 2 hours from Boston, and a world away from everything else.

What makes this property unique
Quietude isn’t just a large rental—it’s a purpose-built experience for gathering, reconnecting, and unwinding. With 10 bedrooms across three thoughtfully placed buildings, the estate offers rare flexibility: togetherness when you want it, space when you need it.
The 1904 Lodge brings rustic charm and elevated comfort. The Cottage offers cozy seclusion. The Gatehouse adds extra space and privacy—all wrapped in 60 acres of forest, fields, and pond views.
Guests love the secret bar in the Shed, the crackling Breeo fire pit, and trails that start at the front door. And while some adventure out to fish, hike, or snowmobile, many find themselves perfectly content in a rocking chair on the porch or reading in the sunroom—moved by the stillness.
Quietude isn’t a place you pass through. It’s a place you settle into—and remember.
