About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 2-4)

The Limestone cabin is the perfect mountain getaway! Our vacation rental cabin is great for honeymoons, anniversaries, birthdays and more! The Limestone cabin is located approximately 5 minutes from Hot Springs, NC. The cabin itself is over a hundred years old! We carefully dismantled it piece by piece and relocated it to the banks of the French Broad River. The cabin comes with a fully equipped kitchen, gas and charcoal grill, so there is no need to eat out!

It also features a private hot tub on the back porch with privacy blinds. The cabin sleeps a maximum of four people. A queen size bed located upstairs and sofa bed downstairs. While your stay at the Limestone cabin you can enjoy countless activities nearby and on-site! Things to do include: on-site fishing, biking, hiking, exploring the land surrounding the cabin, white water rafting, horseback riding and of course the famous Hot Springs Spas. Also, if you feel the need to do some light traveling during your stay you can venture to Asheville, NC-home to the Biltmore House and many, many more attractions.

About The Owner

Greetings, I'm Harold Finley and Sadie Finley my wife are the owners of the Limestone Cabin. We are both natives of the Hot Springs area and are firm believers in southern hospitality! This is currently our only vacation rental, however, we have a few long term rentals in the area. I also have a grading business as well. We have enjoyed meeting new people visiting the area and hope to meet many more in the future! If you have any other questions for us feel free to let us know!

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2009

Why The Owner chose Smoky Mountains

The cabin was originally located in the city limits of Hot Springs, NC. The cabin itself was over a hundred years old! An heir to the cabin was going to have the cabin torn down, so I decided to carefully take it apart and have it re-built. I decided to have the cabin moved and refurbished to some land I owned by the French Broad River. I wanted to share this piece of history and location with others that might be appreciative of it.

Very nice cabin on the river

  • 4 of 5

Had a great New Year's weekend at this cabin. The cabin sits on the river with a nice quiet and remote setting. The hot tub was great! Owner came by to light the gas fireplace for us and was very friendly and helpful. Hot Springs is a great little town. We had a nice dinner at the Mountain Magnolia Inn and Iron Horse Station. I would recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a secluded getaway.

Very nice

The road getting to the house was very strange and we thought we were going the wrong way but we weren't. We loved the house but disclosure of the road would have been helpful prior to arrival.

A Welcome Honeymoon

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful honeymoon! After 16 years of marriage, we took time to get away. We have lived in Asheville and visited Hotsprings so we knew the mountains and wanted to get back to them. Based purely on the pictures and the reviews we chose Limestone Cabin and we were extremely glad we did!

The cabin has what seems to me like welcoming arms that come down the limestone steps to embrace the guests. We were greeted by the massive porch where we grilled our suppers. read, painted, talked, rocked on the rockers, that Harold provides and watched the trains go by. The front door is hugh and hung expertly, swinging with ease. Inside we saw the open floor plan with big stone fireplace to the right, in front of the couch and easy chair and kitchen to the left, with dining table. On the first floor there is a full bathroom off the dining area. We then ventured upstairs and were delighted to see there a half bath, next to the full-sized bed. This loft area is so quiet and peaceful as well as equiped!

Spending most of our time at the cabin was a treat. Everything was provided by Harold, including washer and dryer. My sweet husband cooked out on the grill every night and I baked some. There was even a masher to mash the bananas for bread!

We did walk to town every morning of our five day stay, just a 15 min. walk down the train tracks. Hot Springs has very warm and personable people, with anything that you might need.

The hot tub on the back porch was superb, clean, and well used by us! We could visualize it in the winter too! I guess a return trip needs to be made in colder weather! See you again Harold and thank you so much! you have a great place there in Hot Springs! He move this cabin you know to the current location. It is a vintage cabin, 100 years old, where a woman raise 12 children.

Quiet and Cozy Perfect Honeymoon Spot!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I choose this are our Honeymoon spot based solely on the pictures. One of our first dates was to Hot Springs, so we thought it was only fitting to have our honeymoon there. When looking for a place to stay there I came across Limestone Cabin and instantly fell in love with it! I love the fact that the outside logs are over 100 years old and salvaged from another cabin. The place was very clean and quiet and I LOVE the rock fireplace! We were married in January so the fireplace was just what we needed. The owner is a very friendly gentleman who even offered to take a picture of my husband and myself in front of the cabin before we left. And I can NOT forget to mention that his wife made us two homemade carrot cake cupcakes plus a Congratulations card that was waiting for us on the kitchen table when we arrived. We are right now in the process of reserving the cabin for our first anniversary. I would highly recommend Limestone Cabin to any couple looking for a nice, quiet , private get-a-way to Hot Springs!

A great weekend getaway cabin

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the cabin with my girlfriend and we had a nice relaxing weekend together. The cabin is nice and isolated at the end of a gravel road which follows a railroad track and river. It has everything you need, it's new and clean (but the timbers are obviously salvaged from another old cabin), and well supplied. The owners are very accommodating and friendly. I recommend it!

Great Secluded Cabin

  • 5 of 5

I had a great stay at Harold's cabin. The pictures accurately reflect how quaint and cozy the cabin is. The cabin was very clean and nicely furnished. Harold's wife had even left a batch of freshly made cookies on the kitchen table for me to enjoy.

The cabin is very secluded even though it is quite close to the town of Hot Springs. About the only sound to disturb the chirping of the birds is the occasional train that rolls by on the tracks which run adjacent to the river in front of the cabin. The walk into Hot Springs by way of the railroad tracks takes about 15 or 20 minutes, not much longer than it takes to drive into town.

I did a little fishing one afternoon and caught one small fish, but I saw boys in town catching much bigger fish right off of the bridge on the main highway in the middle of town. Something I found interesting is that the Appalachain Trail runs right through the center of Hot Springs. There are even trail markers embedded in the sidewalk which point out the trail.

I also rode my mountain bike on the road from the cabin up to the highway. I'd recommend a mountain bike rather than a road bike because the road is not paved. If you want an easy ride, you can just ride along the river. The road from the river up to the highway will give you a chance to test your climbing legs, but the ride back down makes it worth it.

After a day of biking, hiking or just enjoying the countryside, the hot tub at the cabin provides a nice secluded spot to relax and have a drink. The tub sits on the porch in the back of the cabin so the access is quick and easy which is nice because the evenings were cool during my stay in October.

I'd recommend the cabin for singles or couples looking for a secluded getaway. It's cozy, bright, well kept, and very clean. The road in is not paved, but I was driving a small RV and had no problems getting in or out. I was very pleased with the cabin and truly enjoyed my stay there.
