About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath

Step out of the stress of everyday life and into this little bit of paradise. This family owned cottage is part of a larger home, located at the end of a peninsula, with water views from most rooms. A self contained, 882 square foot, two level apartment with private entrances, is the perfect solution to expensive rentals not easily afforded during the present economic climate.

Casually elegant, this recently renovated 1927 summer home is a blend of old world charm and modern conveniences. Each bedroom is lined with windows, affording views of passing lobster boats, changing tides, and gorgeous sunsets. An open concept living area and kitchenette provide all the conveniences necessary for comfortable living.

You can spend time sitting on the deck, overlooking the rocky Maine shore, or hop in the car and drive to nearby Boothbay Harbor, Old Orchard Beach, the outlet town of Freeport, or Pemaquid Point. In close proximity there are many venues for kayaking, boating, whale watches, and excursions, so you can be as busy as you please, or just idle, enjoying the cool summer breezes and breath taking water views.

So, come and see us. Take a deep breath of the fresh clean Maine air. Walk the quiet, picturesque streets, lined with beautiful old family homes, eat lots of lobster and once again, enjoy life. You deserve it!

About The Owner

As a child this beautiful Maine home was owned by my grandparents. Grandpa built a separate unit, which is now what we refer to as our bungalow, so that all of his grandchildren and their families could enjoy the vacation home and he and Grandma could still keep their sanity! Growing up in this house made it a part of me, the sights and smells of the ocean, and the memories attached to them. So, in 2008, when the second generation needed to sell it, my husband and I bought it in order to maintain the family traditions.

The grandchildren are all grown now, some with grandchildren of their own but the traditions will carry on. We hope you can make some memories too, and enjoy this beautiful spot just as we do.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2008

Why The Owner chose Portland & Casco Bay

We chose to buy this home so that we could keep it in the family. It is such a beautiful spot and has so many wonderful memories.

What makes this cottage unique

You can have as much privacy as you want or visit with others who are living in the main house or renting the other guest cottage.

Mind blowing sunrise and sunset...the location is amazing!

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is charming in the purest sense, the cozy/small interior let us experienced a bygone era. Margaret was a great host that we would over look the minor inconvenience of the slow WiFi and no 4G signal at times. The kitchen/bathroom is minimalist but functional for the 2 of us. All of Margaret's recommendationd to eat and visit were spot on. We will travel across country and drive up to Harpswells and stay here again the next time we plan our fall follage adventure!

We love this place!

  • 5 of 5

This is our 4th time staying at the guest cottage. During our visits, we pretty much live in the upstairs bedroom which, like the downstairs one, has 3 walls of windows facing the ocean. It doesn't get much better than this! Margaret is delightful. She loves meeting and visiting with guests. We like that Harpswell is not a fancy or touristy place. The local land trust maintains many lovely hiking trails throughout the area. We've visited Maine dozens of times, staying in many different places, but for the past several years we haven't looked any further than Harpswell and Bayberry Ledge!

Great place to stay

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I were only here for two nights but it was a great place to stay. Margaret met us both with hugs and a tour of the residence. She was a pleasure to meet and speak with! There is an amazing view from the bedroom and the patio was perfect to sip coffee and watch the lobster trappers head out in the morning. We would recommend this place for your vacation stay.

Awesome

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay at Potts Point. Our host Margaret was the sweetest person you can imagine. The view was outstanding. Two large bedrooms facing the water-awesome. The only negative was the combination kitchen and bath room. Since I didn't plan to cook, that didn't bother me.

Lovely, peaceful...tranquil....

  • 5 of 5

Overall, very lovely stay. Very peaceful and beautiful. However, wanted to mention that it does have very small kitchen and the bathroom is basically connected to kitchen. I don't remember a review mentioning this so I wanted to be sure to. It was not a big deal for us considering we were one family. Highly recommend Ericas Seafood. Everything was amazing. We went there the last two nights. Especially the haddock, fresh lobster and blueberry ice cream with cake:) Like the rest of the reviews said, it is quite the magical place and look forward to our next trip back to Potts point:)

Relaxing

  • 3 of 5

We had a great time at the house and we were stuffed with lobster! The reserve next to the house was so nice to walk through the tide pools at low tide with the kids. Only cons were the small college fridge where the kitchen shares an area with toilet and shower/tub (not sure how cold the food was being kept in fridge either) , and the living room area where the dining table was is very warm unless you open the unscreened front door. Otherwise, we had a great time and the owners were very acommodating and welcoming. We would consider returning. The pros outweighed the cons.
