About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath

Step out of the stress of everyday life and into this little bit of paradise. This family owned cottage is part of a larger home, located at the end of a peninsula, with water views from most rooms. A self contained, 882 square foot, two level apartment with private entrances, is the perfect solution to expensive rentals not easily afforded during the present economic climate.

Casually elegant, this recently renovated 1927 summer home is a blend of old world charm and modern conveniences. Each bedroom is lined with windows, affording views of passing lobster boats, changing tides, and gorgeous sunsets. An open concept living area and kitchenette provide all the conveniences necessary for comfortable living.

You can spend time sitting on the deck, overlooking the rocky Maine shore, or hop in the car and drive to nearby Boothbay Harbor, Old Orchard Beach, the outlet town of Freeport, or Pemaquid Point. In close proximity there are many venues for kayaking, boating, whale watches, and excursions, so you can be as busy as you please, or just idle, enjoying the cool summer breezes and breath taking water views.

So, come and see us. Take a deep breath of the fresh clean Maine air. Walk the quiet, picturesque streets, lined with beautiful old family homes, eat lots of lobster and once again, enjoy life. You deserve it!

About The Owner

As a child this beautiful Maine home was owned by my grandparents. Grandpa built a separate unit, which is now what we refer to as our bungalow, so that all of his grandchildren and their families could enjoy the vacation home and he and Grandma could still keep their sanity! Growing up in this house made it a part of me, the sights and smells of the ocean, and the memories attached to them. So, in 2008, when the second generation needed to sell it, my husband and I bought it in order to maintain the family traditions.

The grandchildren are all grown now, some with grandchildren of their own but the traditions will carry on. We hope you can make some memories too, and enjoy this beautiful spot just as we do.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2008

Why The Owner chose Harpswell

We chose to buy this home so that we could keep it in the family. It is such a beautiful spot and has so many wonderful memories.

What makes this cottage unique

You can have as much privacy as you want or visit with others who are living in the main house or renting the other guest cottage.

Excellent

Had a wonderful week in Harpswell and exploring the Portland area. Knew when we booked that the kitchen and bath are a combined area, so no surprises. Margaret, Beth and Rachel were very helpful. Will know for the future to shop in Brunswick before driving to Harpswell for groceries.

Amazing views, lovely home and people!

We stayed at Bayberry Lodge, which is the bungalow home attached to the main house. Mrs. Margaret was very kind, and the bungalow was just perfect. My husband, myself and our two children had plenty of space. The grassy hill near the sea wall was a perfect playing spot for our children, and we enjoyed many walks out on the peninsula to look for rocks, shells and sea glass. It is far enough away from town to make you feel like you really are "away from it all," but there is a small store close enough should you need anything. Many places close by to explore, like the Giant's Stairs. Estes Lobster House which is close was very good. The bungalow was clean and neat. If we ever choose to visit Maine again, we will definitely return to Bayberry!

Little bit a Heaven!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

What can I say, that has not already been said. This was the 3rd time we have stayed at Bayberry Ledge and have already booked for next year!!! My wife and I just love this place!!! It is a short distance away from the touristy areas, like Bailey's Island (20 min), so it's quiet and serene!! The property has rocky beach all it's own as it's on the tip of Potts Point, only occasional walkers pass by. Very, very private and the views and sunsets are breathtaking!!!!! Margaret is a wonderful host, with a wonderful personality, who has lots of stories about the history of the property and it's surroundings!!

The place was very nice. We had a great time.

The place was very nice and clean. The bed rooms were good size with great water and sunset views. The heaters in the living room and bedrooms came in handy during the cold nights. The room has cable but the TVs were a little small. A 32 inch flat screen will be a nice improvement. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

Good for the price...

  • 4 of 5

The location was great and the views awesome! The owners were also very friendly and helpful. The bathroom/kitchenette combo was a little unsettling, however. It was strange having it combined into one area. I did not like brushing my teeth in the kitchen sink or showering in a tub/shower that used to be a closet. Other than that, it was great 😊?

Beautiful place, great owners!

The bedroom is remarkable, windows on three walls lets you look at the ocean from anywhere in the room! The views are breathtaking, saw a bald eagle one morning, lots of boats going by too. Margaret is super sweet host, we felt very welcome!
