Bedrooms 5
Space 5,000 sq. ft.
Property type estate
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

Beautiful Riverfront, Spacious 5 Bedroom, 5 Bath (Sleeps 10-12),

There comes a time when you need to pamper yourself. Grandview Manor offers you this opportunity. Imagine a vacation where the hustle and bustle of vacation angst is not felt or even thought of. Awake in the morning with a view from the Master suite of your private riverfront where the nearest person is nearly 1/4 mile away from you, your coffee is fresh, steaming and the morning dew is still on the ground. As the day warms up your biggest decision is whether to cross the compound to play tennis or go for a swim, or maybe if fishing is more to your liking, then stroll out to your 100 ft pier and cast a line. You may catch a mouth-watering flounder, a puppy drum or maybe some delicious Chesapeake Bay blue crabs. The end of the day may begin with a toddy on one of the grand porches as the water in the Jacuzzi fills waiting for you.

Your biggest challenge at Grand View Manor is learning to relax. We will provide the surroundings; you provide the relaxation!

Also great for family reunions, weddings/receptions, corporate retreats! On Facebook go to Grand View Manor, Mathews, Va for additional photos.

What A Treat!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying at the Grandview Manor for our nephew’s wedding weekend. Wow, this place is awesome! The grounds are very well kept and the spacious house was able to comfortably handle our large family. The two master suites on the first floor are great. We enjoyed playing tennis, using the pool, and relaxing in this unique home. The kitchen is well stocked for a crowd.

We had the most relaxing vacation because of the preparation that the owner and caretaker provided. One of our favorite things to do was to sit on the back porch and enjoy the magnificent view of the East River!

We highly recommend this fabulous rental home. It simply does not get any better than this!

Relaxation at its Finest!

  • 5 of 5

My group of twelve (ten young adults and two children) recently stayed at Grandview Manor. I would agree with other reviews that the photos do not begin to do this place justice. The property was quite large and included a firepit area and a strong, relaxing hammock. The pier was very sturdy and provided a relaxing place to sit on the bench and fish, crab, or watch the sunset. Our group enjoyed kayaking in the river as well as well as bird-watching (the eagles were beautiful!).

We enjoyed playing table tennis in the garage during our stay as well as playing on the tennis courts on the opposite side of the pool house.

The pool house was heated to a comfortable temperature and included a sitting area for those who didn't want to sit at the pool. It also included a refrigerator and sink as well as a full bathroom. This convenience was greatly appreciated by our group.

All of the rooms in this house were larger than expected. The two living rooms worked well for our group as well as the two dining areas. The kitchen was well-stocked with all that we needed for cooking, serving and storing during our stay. The additional refrigerator in the garage was also helpful for our group.

The property was clean and the landscaping was beautiful. The experience with both the owner and property manager were positive.

Those who went on this trip had experienced a difficult year and were in need of some peaceful time away to relax and recover. This place provided the perfect environment to heal and prepare for a return to normal life. If you are looking for a place to "reset", I highly recommend Grandview Manor.

Grand Old Lady (Grandview Manor)

Beautiful property and grounds. Fishing was great from the dock but we were so anxious for crabs we went ahead and purchased a bushel and enjoyed them on the porch facing the water.YUM Weather was so hot and humid we just lounged and stayed close to the pool. We met David the groundskeeper/handyman and enjoyed chatting with him and learning a little of the local history. A big thank you to Cathy the owner. Will see you again. Linda S

Person who leased the property

This was one of our most relaxing vacations ever. We thoroughly enjoyed the grounds, pool & tennis courts and wonderful porches. We thought all the space inside was great, but the staircase was a bit of a challenge for the two year olds, but by next time they will have it down.

Just as a personal message to the owner, who may not be aware, but the linens were not kept in good condition. I won't go into it, unless you want to hear directly from me, because in general we were more than delighted with our stay.

We hope to be able to use this lovely house again sometime when we can get our 'scattered across the country' family together again. Thank you for the opportunity to let us enjoy a much needed vacation at your beautiful home.

Impressive Southern Mansion

  • 5 of 5

Hosted a mini-family reunion at this property and it was incredible. Kids liked the pool. Elderly loved the back porch overlooking the water and the master suite bedrooms were top notch. Owner and Caretaker were great to work with and would definitely recommend to anyone considering a large gathering....

Best Vacation Ever!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 12 had a wonderful time at Grand View! We enjoyed the spacious house and room to spread out for all--loved the 2 living room areas with flat screen TVs and the FABULOUS master suites on the first floor both with big flat screen TVs. The kitchen was very spacious with a great view of the water and dock. We hung out on the big back porch in late into the evenings and played corn hole on the back lawn overlooking the water. The kids (ages 11-21) loved loved the pool and spent day and night there--lots of pool toys already there. We had older teens who enjoyed the tennis court too! We docked our boat and the guys went fishing out in the Bay everyday and everyone fished and crabbed from the pier too. We had a fish fry one night with all the fish and crabs! The grounds were beautifully maintained! The caretaker was wonderful and even brought us fresh eggs.We went to nearby Gloucester and Mathews for our shopping needs and checked out some of the small shops downtown and had dinner at Willoughby's on the Rappahannock River in White Stone one night ---outstanding seafood and service! This was a peaceful quiet vacation and the kids never wanted to leave the property! I Highly Recommend Grand View to all who want to enjoy spending time with family and friends! Thank You Cathy Leitz (owner) for everything you did to make our vacation the BEST EVER!!! We are already making plans to return next year!
