There is nothing more relaxing than getting out of the Phoenix heat and unwinding in beautiful Oak Creek Canyon/Sedona.
Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon are truly nature's beauty at its finest! The tall pines and cool breeze of Oak Creek Canyon as well as the gorgeous red rocks of Sedona make the best hikes. The creek offers water activities galore; including swimming, fishing and Slide Rock State Park. Sedona is a culture all it's own and offers some of the best art and restaurants anywhere.
Adequate space for 6 of us. Kitchen was well equipped. Beds, linens, everything that was mentioned that would be there was there.
The condition of the cabin needed attention. Windows were broken and repaired with card board, very dusty, carpet badly stained in the room by the fireplace and in family room. A deep and thorough cleaning and repairs are needed. Dealing with owner via phone about the coffee pot that was not working was very pleasant and quickly handled.
Thank you for allowing my family to share this beautiful, well-maintained cabin. We enjoyed an extended-family stay. There were nine of us and the accommodations were very pleasant; not crowded at all. We fished in the creek (caught 4!); we took hikes; went to Flagstaff (Lake Mary), Sedona (Slide Rock) and Williams (Bearizona). The younger kids played games (Twister and Trivial Pursuit, of all things!) and watched movies in the evenings. The kitchen was fully stocked just as described -- we just had to bring our own food. On the second morning there, the coffee pot did not work. There was even a new coffee pot there -- just in case. We were able to have our morning coffee with no interruptions. There was every utensil you could think of.
We met some of the neighbors and they were very pleasant, too. The cabin is secluded enough to be private but not so secluded as to feel you're in the middle of nowhere. It was nice to be away from the computer, phone, and hectic life if even for a few days.
This was our first experience at this sort of stay and I have to admit I'd do it again. Every step has been taken to ensure a pleasant stay; even providing phone numbers for every type of assistance. Due to our busy schedules, we were only able to stay 3 nights and 2 full days but I'd like to go back and stay longer.
The only thing that would have helped us is if we had known where the dumpster was. We were directed to make sure the trash was in the dumpster before we left -- not an unreasonable request. However, we could not readily find a dumpster. So during one of our walks, we happened to stop and chat with one of the neighbors. After some pleasantries, we asked where the dumpster was. It just so happened he was on his way to the dumpster and showed us where it was. Problem solved. All in all, very nice stay and very highly recommended.
Nice neighbors; nice people; beautiful scenery (fall colors during our stay); home away from home! Highly recommended.
We stayed there for 4 nights, while doing mountain bike riding in Sedona.
reasonably priced (compared to in-town Sedona)
Nice large HD TV, which we brought our own DVD's and watched at night.
Holds lots of people - 3 big beds for couples, and 2 up/down bunk beds for 4 more people.
Nice kitchen, with good sized fridge to hold our food.
very old, I would say it's circa early 1970's on the inside.
We had a plumbing issue with the toilet (1 of 2 they have), which they couldn't get a plumber out to fix during our stay. The owner compensated us for the trouble, since we had lots of people using 1. Owner was VERY cordial and understanding.
No garage (I wasn't expecting one), so we stored our expensive MTB's inside (after cleaning). Did NOT want to leave them locked to the car racks, as parts could still be taken off (seats/posts, etc). Carpet is fairly old (currently, so we didn't sweat it), and there's lots of space in the living areas to store them.
It's easy to miss (we had 1 couple come at night) so be sure to look for the PINE FLATS little sign that looks like an A-frame shingle roof, out by the street. :-)
Be aware that traffic going INTO Sedona from here can be REALLY bad (when weather is good?). We went to the biking trails there, and luckily hit them by 7:30am, so it wasn't too bad. We then headed back to the cabin for lunch, and getting BACK into Sedona (for a 2nd ride, or a jeep tour) took us well over an hour at times (should be 20 minutes). This is due to 2 factors: (1) they do not have 'crossing guards' for the tourists at the crosswalks, so people saunter across 1 by one. In my town (Laguna Beach) we have them and they hold up tourists until there is a group, and THEN let them cross. This way the cars can get through. Not so in Sedona. (2) the roundabouts - hardly ANYONE knows how to yield or go through using them. It was a cute thought, but signals would work better, since it appears most Americans don't know the rules. :-)
Overall, it functioned well for our needs (we're simple), but if you need new/modern, this may not be for you.
As I stated the owner(s) are great, and communicate well, and get back to you quickly. This is why I give them a 4.
Marvelous place for our annual board retreat. Great kitchen, plenty of sleeping quarters, spacious living room area for meetings and lovely country roads for walking. We enjoyed it thoroughly!
We stayed here 6/28/15 to 6/30/15 and had a wonderful time with our kids from New York!! Lots of room for everyone and all the beds we comfortable! Will for sure rent again!!! Thank you for the great experience!
We loved our stay here! House is quirky and fun, lots of space, and very clean. Owners are quick to respond and easy to work with. Location is perfect, just steps from the creek. Wi-Fi isn't very reliable, which forced us to detach from the internet and relax, which was a good thing. Would definitely love to stay here again, hopefully next time it won't rain so we can utilize the beautiful back yard more.
Slide Rock State Park is only minutes from cabin, short drive from red rocks of Sedona, 50 feet from Oak Creek in the heart of Oak Creek Canyon, jeep tours, winery, railroads
