About this property

LOWCOUNTRY OASIS - Round House on St Helena

The space
Welcome to the Round House. Our home is a 4 bed/2.5 bath one of a kind, one-story round house built to withstand hurricanes. The circular, open design allows beach views from most of the house. Step out to your own private porch that wraps the house to feel the ocean breeze right on the beach. The home is fully furnished, recently updated, and accommodates up to 10 people.

THE BEACH: Enjoy the quiet and stunning private beach views from all around the house or step out to the deck that circles around the house to watch the sunrise, or for a relaxing afternoon sip or morning coffee. If you want to get closer, enjoy a detached standalone flat deck closer to your private beach. The beach offers a fantastic place to fish, paddle board and kayak. You may swim, or do watersports on the beach in front of the house but best times to do so is at high tide. We sometimes use My Tide Times app to track the tide. There are tidal oyster beds on the beach so bring swimming booties to enjoy the water. If you want to catch the waves, one of the best beaches in the area is Hunting Island State Park which is 10-15 minutes by car. Hunting Island State Park holds an incredible history with a Lighthouse, picnic areas, the beautiful boneyard beaches and the Marsh Boardwalk.

WATER SPORTS:
There are companies in the area that will bring to the house kayaks or paddle boards for rent or you can go join their activities. Let us know, and we can send you a recommendation!

ACCOMMODATIONS: The living room features a flat-screen television, plenty of seating, and a sliding glass door allows deck access. Enjoy preparing meals in the fully-equipped kitchen, and serve your gourmet entrees at the six-person table, with additional seating at the counter. The fully equipped kitchen includes a refrigerator, electric range, toaster oven, pots, pans, cooking tools and utensils. The 4 bedrooms provide ample sleeping quarters- one master suite with an attached full bathroom, two guest suites sharing a jack and jill full bathroom, and another guest suite. A secluded game room allows the family to spread out and enjoy individual space. A laundry room with washer and dryer is available to help you pack at a minimum and still have fresh beachwear.
Guest access
We have garage parking for 3 cars. Driveway also able to accommodate guests.

Frequently asked questions:

BEACH:
There is a small private, sandy beach right in front of our house. The tides are generally low, and oyster beds are spread around the area, though they are usually not right on our sandy beach. Please enjoy the water by using common sense, and beach booties. We do no have kayaks or paddle boards, but we can get you in touch with local shops that will rent and deliver them.

PETS:
We welcome dogs. We do not discriminate based on breed or size, but due to the size of our home, we are unable to accommodate more than 2 L-breed dogs (50+ pounds) per booking. All dogs must be housebroken and up-to-date on shots. Dogs must be crated when left in the house unattended. We are unable to accommodate animals other than dogs at this time.

***The non-refundable pet fee is $100 per dog (max 2 dogs). The fee covers extra cleaning to reduce possible allergens. Please note that the pet fee will be charged after the booking is approved and must be paid before check-in.***

Please exercise caution with your dogs. Alligators may be present in any body of water. Dogs must be leashed at all times outside unless they are in an enclosed area. Dogs are allowed on the beach year-round.

Hunting Island State Park allows dogs on a leash in the park. They are not allowed in cabin areas or inside the lighthouse complex. They are also not allowed on the northern tip of the island to protest critical shorebird habitat. Pets are allowed in most other outdoor areas provided they are kept under physical restraint or on a leash not longer than six feet. Take advantage of the many walking trails located throughout the park.

Quiet Week in the Lowcountry
Round house was a great get away from civilization. Place had all the amenities you need if you want to put your cell down and just enjoy the company of family. Don’t get me wrong, there is Wi-Fi and a TV, but we barely used them. We went to Publix a few times to get some of the items we needed, about a twenty minute drive each way. If we wanted to go to the beach, Hunting Island North Beach was about 10 minutes away. Overall, the house provided the R&R we were looking for, and I recommend it for anyone looking for a quiet week away from normal life.
