The owner of this house grew up hiking in the Georgia mountains with her parents who taught her a love of nature's gifts. So she wanted to create a place where nature is center stage. As a licensed professional landscape architect and artist, she has used her skills in planning this house's location and design. She also has a home in Naples Florida which is a walk to the beach so between the two places she's really enjoying the best of life. She's very excited to offer what she has so enjoyed to others in this newly finished home.
The Owner purchased this chateau / country house in 2010
I have owned this property for 25 years and grown to know and love all it's features over that time. The area is perfect. Sautee is so close to Helen and has grown to become a center of history, the arts, and culture in recent years. I feel the presence of history in the land here. The spirit and evidence of the Cherokee Indians are all around us here as well as those of the early settlers. This is a place where time does not whizz by and I feel connected to what is eternal. What more can I say than that.
When I am here for a few days something unwinds in me. My senses become more aware. My eye's and ears become sensitized to the subtle beauties and music of nature. Also I begin to feel a connection to the land in a deep way that fills me with peace.
Beautiful views! Lovely cabin in secluded area but not too far from Helen. Enjoyed our stay!
The home's setting was stunning, located on a secluded gravel drive. Yet, it's a short drive to Helen and Cleveland, as well as some great hiking. Immaculate and comfortable. Can't ask for more.
At first we were not sure about the gravel road but after a day it was fine. The house is beautiful, very clean. Love the deck. On a clear blue sky and starry night it's so nice to be at the deck. It's by itself but love the quiet sorounding.
Very beautiful and quiet place to relax. Only a short drive to town. Will definitely come back again.
We visited Sautee Serenity with our family. The cabin was comfortable, the views were outstanding and the location was private and convenient at the same time! The deck is great for hanging out, sipping one of the great local wines, and taking in the view. We will definitely be back! Thank you to Mary Ellen for being so responsive and pleasant to work with.
We greatly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It is so comfortable and beautiful inside and out. The deck was wonderful for relaxing and visiting. Everything we needed was right there and Helen is a short drive away. We hope to return soon.
Nearby Helen has many year round attractions, The Appalachian Trail is 6-miles as the crow flies and visible from the front porch. Lake Burton is a 30 minute drive up the road, historic Sautee Valley is filled with beautiful and interesting sites i.e. covered bridge, old stores and mills, also nearby are the lovely historic towns of Clarkesville and Cleveland.
