Overlooking Lake Travis in the Hill Country, this one-of-a-kind architectural gem is off the beaten-path and at the center of things. As you approach over tree-covered hillsides which drop to the midnight-blue water below, you’ll get more the impression that you are in the Greek Islands or southern Italy than in Texas.

Since the Tram House can only be reached by tram, you’ll park at the base of the hill, climb into the tramcar, and let your horizon expand as you are carried 210 feet up the 55 degree hillside to the panoramic views of Lake Travis. Built in perfect alignment with the slope of the hill and standing at ‘treetop’ height, it is the only house east of the Rocky Mountains that requires a tram to access.

The Tram House boasts three private balconies, custom-designed skylights, and corner windows in the living room and bedrooms that allow unobstructed views. The three-level, contemporary-style home is comfortably furnished with all new décor. It has been featured in Austin Monthly and Parade magazines.

With its unparalleled views, exclusive location, modern comfort and competitive rates, neighbors and visitors alike rave about the unique Tram House. Come and see for yourself! Contact us for more information about this exceptional lake destination.

Nestled in Hill Country overlooking Lake Travis ; stunning views of sparkling blue water, marina facilities, and summer weather; walking distance to Hippie Hollow, Texas’ only “clothing-optional” park, and to Bob Wentz Windy Point Park, a waterfront “family-friendly” area. Proximity to restaurants and entertainment! Watch the sunset from the patio of the famous Oasis on Lake Travis, just two miles from the Tram House, or head only 25 minutes into downtown Austin, the Live Music Capital of the World, to the celebrated 6th Street. Famous area events include South by Southwest and Austin City Limits.

The House is a 2 bedroom, both Master bedrooms with King Size Beds. It sleeps 4-6. We allow 4 people to stay in the house at that rate. After 4 people, extra people are $25/day.

Chef Mike is from New Orleans and specializes in Cajun/Creole cuisine, but can prepare just about anything you may desire. He can be reached at 512-751-7957 or mike at nolakitchen. com.

For a Spa Day at the Tram House, contact Tanya Procer. She is an excellent masseuse who also offers Spa treatments such as hot rocks, facials, foot massages and more. (512) 797. 6533.

An amazing one of a kind place.

  • 5 of 5

We tried to post a review several times after our visit but had a technical roadblock each time. This home was amazing and the owners were very helpful with any issues we had. The view of the lake from the deck was stellar. Plan at least 4 days stay so it won't hurt so bad when you have to leave.

Wonderful location, excellent views and amazing home.

  • 5 of 5

We had the best time during our stay at the Tram House for my wife's 40th birthday celebration. We enjoyed sitting on the back patio and watching the sunrise and sunset each day with one of the best views of the lake in the area.

The home was clean, very well appointed with lots of room for us (two couples). Sheila and Keith were wonderful with suggesting breakfast and dinner locations, as well as a place close by for an afternoon sailing cruise, Sail Austin. We didn't have enough time to grill on the patio and spend additional time at the house but will definitely next time.

We will definitely plan on staying at the home again soon.

Breathtaking Views!

  • 5 of 5

We went for a long holiday weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the Tram House complete with a panoramic view of Lake Travis from the deck. The two master suites were beautiful, and we left feeling truly pampered. Keith, the owner, was charming! We will surely stay again.

Unique and beautiful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed a night for anniversary and brought our kids the next night. Had everything we needed and our kids loved the house so much they did not want to leave. Keith was awesome when my husband forgot his laptop and we had to drive all the way back. They had an opening so we just eneded up staying a third night! Such a convienient location to grocery stores, restaurants and shopping but when you are at the Tram house you still feel like you are away from it all! A little pricey but worth it just for the views!!

Absolutely Perfect

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I booked the house for our vacation. He wanted a place with a view and couldn't have been happier with the one from this deck. We began and ended every day of our stay on the beautiful deck off of the living room. The house is beautifully appointed and luxurious on every level. Downtown Austin is only about a 25 minute drive and we also went to Fredericksburg and visited several wineries. Cooking in the kitchen was wonderful and convenient because everything we needed was available. There was an HEB and Target less than 10 minutes away which was awesome. Even though the temperatures pushed 100 every day we were there the deck was cool, comfortable and breezy in the evenings and was perfect for stargazing. We hope to visit again soon and would recommend this beautiful home to anyone looking for a beautiful place to stay in the Austin area.

About Ketih

Keith and Sheila wish you a warm welcome to the Tram House! Keith is a financial planner who, when he’s not at work helping one of his clients plan a financial future, can be found on his boat on Lake Travis. Sheila is a technical writer for an Orthopedic Manufactuer who also enjoys boating and traveling with her husband. Both Keith and Sheila are very active in the Comanche Trail Community Association that oversees the lakeside community in which their beloved Tram House is located.

Ketih purchased this house in 2005

Why Ketih chose Comanche Trail

“We originally bought our home because we wanted to live close to the lake,” explains Keith. While the Tram House is their primary residence, in order to “share the beauty of waking up to the lake every day,” Keith and Sheila often reside in the garage apartment that is located on the premises and rent out the main house. It works out well for them as they are often away on traveling adventures, or spending the weekends on the lake in their cabin cruiser, “Lady Luck.”

Since moving into their unique home in 2005, Keith and Sheila have discovered many pleasures beyond what originally drew them in: Sunday drives through the winding Hill Country, the myriad nearby attractions and eateries, and the tranquility of being perched above it all. Their hope is for each of their visitors to love waking up to the lake, and to enjoy staying in the only home east of the Rocky Mountains that requires a tram to gain access!

What makes this house unique

We love to eat out. At the Tram House, you'll be close to famous restaurants like the Oasis(view), Steiner Ranch Steak House, Boat House Grill, Hill Country Pasta House, Flores(Mexican), Ciola's(Italian), Carlos & Charlies, Cafe Blue', Hudson's on the Bend(Exotic Game), Rudy's(BBQ), Thai Spice, Nygori's, Rice'(Thai/Sushi) and many others. Also, we've been complemented many times for having such a fully stocked house. In other words, we provide soap, paper towels, bath towels, toilet paper, hand towels, shampoo, conditioner, plates, glasses, pillows, sheets, etc. There's a lot that is provided that we have heard other vacations rentals do not provide. If you have any questions about what to bring, be sure to give us a quick call or email.
