A few March dates left at They Grey Pearl

Pearl is a Hidden Gem in the Village. When you enter you will see the main house to the right. You will enter the Kitchen area of our home. The kitchen offers an open concept to the living and dining area so that as the "resident chef" you can feel included in all the conversation with your friends and family. As you will see the Kitchen has a center island for the sink and dishwasher.

The living space offers all new furniture such as the pull out sofa (Queen) with lovely, crisp cotton sheets. You will be able to enjoy Netflix on the new Roku TV, but, as always, why watch TV when you can be out enjoying the Ocracoke views !!

There are 2 bedrooms for you to choose from. The one on your left as you enter the hallway is a brand new Beauty Rest Double bed with a lovely antique Pine dresser. The ceiling fan and mini-split heat pump will ensure that you or your guest sleep well at their own temperature.

The bedroom to the right, the Master, features a new Beauty Rest Queen bed, with cooling mattress cover. Also noted in the room for your sleeping comfort is a ceiling fan and your own mini-split heat pump as well. The 2 antique old English Pine dressers are here for you to place. your belongings in so that it feels just like home !

The center hall bathroom has just experienced a "from the sand up" renovation, all the while saving as much of the original structure as we could. We know that you will love the original Bead Board ceilings and new Ship Lap walls !! What are our 2 favorite features in the bathroom??? The deep Cast Iron soaking tub and the electric wall heater !! We know this will give you hours of enjoyment as you rest after a busy day exploring the wild beaches of Ocracoke !!

And the porch !!!! What an absolute delight you will experience with the large sofa and swing !! The wide expanse of the porch is perfect for early morning coffee and late night chats with those you have allowed to come with you on this adventure.

Our personal favorite is the outdoor shower --- After enjoying an outdoor shower you will have a hard time going inside to shower. With overhead coverage in case of rain or chilly weather, the full door gives your most modest guest to enjoy the experience. One thing to be mindful of with the pipes in this historic home, someone might get chilly if both showers and dish washer are running at the same time.

All of the yard space are yours to enjoy ! The fenced in yard is perfect for any gathering, including your pet. We do ask that all pet waste is removed from the yard as no one wants to put a toe into anything left behind!

The Pearl is a cute cottage in the middle of the village. Our family of 4 enjoyed our weekend shelling, sitting on the screened porch & playing cornhole. When you need to unplug and reset this is where you want tgo!

February in Ocracoke? Just need a cozy cottage.

I am a repeat visitor so obviously I was very impressed with the property. I love the location as well as the coziness of the cottage. I would highly recommend it. When I did have a very minor issue, it was very easy to get in touch with the owner and she was quite responsive.

Convenient location, great communication

This home is conveniently located within walking distance of many of the local businesses. The house is very well-provisioned as the owners have thought of everything. We had our dog with us and they had a food bowl, a kennel, and some dog blankets. The screened-in porch was also very cozy and had lots of space for gathering. The central living room and kitchen area are very spacious and cozy, with lots of places to sit and relax. The host was very communicative and made the stay a breeze. Thanks so much for the great vacation!

If you want to experience Ocracoke as it is intended, this property is perfect. It has all the amenities with a great location and just far enough off of the beaten path to be private. The property was spotless and well cared for. The host could not have been more communicative. The description of the property was precise and left little to chance. I will likely be booking this property again for next year.

The property was soooo cute! Well appointed, and had everything we needed. Just a little put off by construction in front and in the back. But not your fault. We get that off-season work is being done. Also, didn't realize so many shops were still closed. Also, not your fault! And the ferry was delayed due to weather when we were trying to g get home in a timely fashion. Again, NOT your fault. Would definitely stay again!

A lovely option on Ocracoke Island!

We happened to visit Ocracoke in the winter. The property owner was terrific about giving us advanced heads up regarding what restaurants were open during our visit and made terrific recommendations for things to do.The Grey Pearl cottage is located in a quiet area, and we felt completely safe in and around the cottage and village.The rooms of the cottage were spacious and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need except for the food itself.One note: the cottage has an on-demand water heater; be sure to carefully read the owner's instructions for use so that you don't get doused with frigid water in the middle of your shower as a result of the "cold sandwich of water" that can happen with this type of water heater.There is no central heating/air conditioning in this cottage. Instead, the owners have installed individual units in each room - we loved this feature as I love a cooler room while my husband prefers a toasty room. The new electric fire place/stove in the family room was a welcome addition as it really helped knock the chill out of room during the especially cold spell in which we visited.Overall, this was a lovely, welcoming little cottage!

Our home in Ocracoke is a newer edition to our family, but our experiences vacationing the island go back 40+ years. Our family is honored to allow other families our homes and such a special vacation spot.

Why they chose this property

On Ocracoke Island, you'll find miles and miles of pristine, undeveloped—and, best of all, uncrowded—beaches for you to enjoy. The Grey Pearl (named Fantasea in the 1970s) was built in 1936 for one of the original families on the island, the Williams family. Very typical of an Ocracoke cottage, Fantasea is located in the heart of the Village and everything is within walking distance. If you know Ocracoke, you know that houses are almost always in close proximity to each other, and "Pearl" is no different, but offers privacy fences and mature trees to give a sense of seclusion from the rest of the island. Many original islanders on don't even know it is there !! The very large lot gives 2 very spacious yard areas perfect for outdoor dining, picnics, and space for children and pets to play.

What makes this property unique

There are many things that make Pearl stand out from other Cottages on the island.
*Central location : It is a 3 minute walk to Silver Lake. 4 minute bike ride to the most perfect book store ever- Books to be Red. 3 minute bike ride to Ocracoke Coffee. 6 minute bike ride to Ocracoke Lighthouse. 6 minute walk to the most perfect restaurant ever, Dajiou !!! AND needing a bit of an evening get away? Tuck the kids in the bed early and walk 3 minutes to Zillies for an evening sip and snack !!!!
